I think we’re all pretty solid that we give NO COMPROMISE to the anti-rights goons. The only “Compromise” I will except is their unconditional surrender from the field, as well exile from the United States for treason for their leadership. That seems fair, I mean its not like we’re executing them.

Still there are some times when they really tip their hand. From Illinois.

A Mitchell man will be allowed to operate a gun dealership out of his home, over the protests of some neighbors.

The Madison County Board approved a special-use permit Wednesday to allow David Price to sell guns out of his home as a licensed firearms dealer.

Price said his clients would be prescreened, arrive by appointment only and would have to obtain firearm owner identification cards from the state before they would be permitted to make an appointment….”We just don’t want this kind of business out there,” Hicks said. “We don’t know who would show up, however well he would screen them… We don’t want that kind of attention.”

Hicks said she represented about 40 fellow residents opposed to the permit, and said she wished Price would open up a retail store somewhere else instead of operating out of his home. Price said that was his eventual plan, once he got his business going.

We’re talking about an FFL here, and in a state where all gun owners are licensed. Further FFLs are required to conduct background on all sales to private citizens.

But they want him to go elsewhere. Note that this story is being pushed by those who find it “reasonable” for private sale of firearms to be illegal. Private sale illegal, and people can demand that FFLs not operate or operate “somewhere else”.

These people think its reasonable where there is only one gun shop in the nation of Mexico, and its in the middle of a military base in Mexico City.

They don’t want you to be able to sell your property, and they’d be fine if you needed to buy airfare to give your wife a pistol for her birthday, or give your neighbor a firearm in lieu of payment for helping you with some work.

Well, to be contrarian, if the fellow is seeking a special use permit he was obviously not zoned properly to operate this business. Kudos to him for getting the board to back his plan, but starting in a situation like that does force a lot of publicity to what should be a relatively private matter. And when you ask for it, you sure do get it…

I have been a bit of a stickler for zoning stuff, helps keep the n’hood as it was. I’d get ticked if my neighbors wanted a variance. And I chose to live within the zoning that I have too, as silly as some of the restrictions may be.

    • Weerd Beard says:

That is a fair point. Of course this article really don’t take much interest in zoning laws as much as “ZOMG SCARY GUNS AND PEOPLE WHO HAVE UNDERWENT MULTIPLE BACKGROUND CHECKS BUT COULD BE SCARY SPACE NAZIS!!!!!”

My point is that when antis see an FFL they don’t see a regulated place where lawful citizens can buy guns with background checks in a safe, controlled environment….they see something that must be closed down and re-located to the wastelands.

      • Wally says:

As arms magnate to the wasteland, I agree.

It’s just that when you put yourself in a position to be scrutinized by the (adjective) public, you are never going to be happy.

Here zoning laws restrict signs. Fine by me. Heck, even standing in my shop you can’t tell what is made there*, and that’s fine with me.
*: aside from a ton of fake steel wool!

        • Weerd Beard says:

Yep. I’ve just also seen countless places where gun shops open in strip malls and retail districts. So soon come the cries for the shop to move by the local anti-freedom establishment. “There’s a School down the street!” “There’s a Park down the street!” “There’s a toy store around the corner!”

As if any of this shit is relevant, unless their point is making it so nobody can easily go to a gun shop.

  2. I operate a gun store out of my home. Of course most of it is in my truck for the local gun shows. I do have a small repeat customer base that I do internet transfers for. Never a complaint form the neighbors. Most of my repeat customers are licensed to carry weapons, and the 2 or 3 that aren’t pass the check with no problem. The ATF knows what I am doing and all is right with the world.

Reminds me of those “Colored People Only” signs above the Water Fountains in the Jim Crow South. Just how Far in the “Back of the Bus” is a Gun Store supposed to be, anyway?

  4. TS says:

This is comedy gold. The best way to buy a gun in Mexico is to ask a cop to sell theirs to you. From the “one gun shop in Mexico” link:

Alberto Islas, a security expert based in Mexico, said it is common knowledge that the easiest way for the average citizen to buy a gun is to ask a friendly local police officer.

“The cop will bring it to your house and show you how to load it,” Islas said. “Of course, it is technically illegal.”

  5. AZRon says:

They set up flaming hoops through legislation. If you manage to jump through them all without getting singed too badly, they’ll complain that you didn’t have an artistic “flourish”.

  6. David Price says:

Just to say Thank You for writing this article about me. When the SHTF we all know who’ll be begging at my door. I’ll give them rubber bands and paper clips.
