Shopping List For Criminals

White Plains home targeted for gun safe.

A White Plains residence pinpointed on a controversial handgun permit database was burglarized Saturday, and the burglars’ target was the homeowner’s gun safe.

At least two burglars broke into a home on Davis Avenue at 9:30 p.m. Saturday but were unsuccessful in an attempt to open the safe, which contained legally owned weapons, according to a law enforcement source. One suspect was taken into custody, the source said.

The gun owner was not home when the burglary occurred, the source said. The victim, who is in his 70s, told Newsday on Sunday that he did not want to comment while the police investigation continues.

Watch the report for an interview with the neighbor. He can’t recall EVER hearing about a break-in in the neighborhood before. AKA this is a “Good Neighborhood”, still White Plains is easy driving distance from even the worst inner-city territories, and I don’t know the area well enough to know if there are closer spots that might be dodgy.

The people who broke in knew they couldn’t get guns through legal channels, and probably knew people who would pay cash for hot guns. So congrats, antis, you just helped put more illegal guns on the streets! Also other gun owners are at risk of crimes, as most people don’t own just one gun, and with the high event of “gun free zones” even if they have a permit to carry, it doesn’t necessarily mean the gun is on them when they are out of the house.

I thought I’d close with this comment:

Neighbor John Mascia said he thought the gun permit database should not have been published.

“I could [not] care less what they have in their home,” Mascia said.

Great work guys!
