Anti-Rights Airstrike

Man, I’m impressed by how consistent the anti-rights forces can be.

Sean put up a post about the latest Bloomberg Blood Dancing. It gets shared in a Moms Demand Stuff facebook post, and in come a few new faces to Sean’s site.

What do they bring? Thoughtful debate on sensible gun control? Actual mutually beneficial compromise in the gun debate? Anything resembling open-mindedness?

Nope, name calling and ad hominem attacks, as well as some incorrect “facts”. Go have a read, and join in.

What it amounts to is one mentally troubled troll, and a few tag-a-longs saying “me too!”. Sean even put up a response post which was largely ignored.

I was talking to Sean about this and asked him if he knew who any of these people were, as I don’t have facebook and he does. Let’s just say these aren’t loser basement dwellers. I’ll let Sean share that information when he sees fit.

This is the best they have, and it shows further irony to the whole “We need to have a debate on the gun issue”.

“Gun Death” DC Cop

Who can you call when the police are trying to murder you?

A D.C. police officer has been indicted on a charge of attempted murder after allegedly trying to kill his wife with a metal light fixture and threatening her with knives in their home in Prince George’s County.

Prosecutors announced the indictment Friday against Officer Samson Edwards Lawrence III, 45, who lives in Accokeek. The 23-year veteran is charged with two counts of attempted murder, two counts of assault and two counts of possessing a dangerous weapon with intent to injure.

Good thing DC makes it really hard for citizens to get handguns, because otherwise this monster could have been shot!

Further information gives me chills:

Lawrence, who had been assigned to the School Safety Division, was arrested Nov. 25, a day after the alleged attack, and charged with several counts of assault and reckless endangerment.

Yep, he was guarding our CHILDREN! Classy!

Quote of the Day: Wade

Wonderful comment to the last “Images of the Antis” post:

If my neighbor’s child gets killed by a drunk driver, they don’t have the right to come to my house and steal my liquor or slash my tires just because they’re sad and angry, nor do they have the moral right to send government thugs to do the same.

Drunk driving is a great analogy for crimes with guns. Cars, alcohol, drinking, and driving (all separately, note the punctuation) are legal activities, and even combining some of those (like enjoying a beer while you clean your car, or tinker around in the garage) is perfectly acceptable. But being drunk and behind the wheel is a serious crime, and social taboo.

Also drunk driving has been cracked down on, and has become much less common than decades ago. The reason for this is simply law enforcement taking the crime more seriously than the past, by arresting drunks they catch driving, and serious punishment for the crime, when in the past the crime was frequently overlooked.

The same could be said about gun crime. Owning guns is NOT a problem, but criminals owning guns are a problem. Of course we don’t see police cracking down on the gangs and drug cartels in America because compared to hauling in drunks on the highway, it is a VASTLY more dangerous.

Still we have the anti-rights crusaders that are doing the comparison to slashing our tires, banning our cars, and making alcohol possession illegal because some monster decided that the taboo and crime of drunk driving wasn’t an issue.

It is simply foolish, but at the same time what in fact they do!

Anti-Freedom, not anti-gun!

“Gun Death” England

England is a land with infrequent “Gun Death”, but that doesn’t make it a safe place.

A small article about a murder-suicide near his London home sent Antonio Zazueta Olmos in search of the crime scene. A man had stabbed his girlfriend to death, the local newspaper said, and he then took his own life by jumping in front of a train. But when Mr. Olmos got to the block he found nothing: no police tape, no flowers, no candles….He is publishing his photographs in “The Landscape of Murder” (Dewi Lewis Publishing), offering a window into a side of his adopted hometown that even the natives don’t often realize.

Go click on that link. I scrolled through it, and from what I can tell this is what my blog might look like if I didn’t limit myself to one “Gun Death?” File a day.

Interesting and scary, and exactly why I fight so hard against the metric of “Gun Death”.

“Gun Death” Rogue Beef

Think of this before carving into your holiday roast!

A cow escaped from a slaughterhouse in this city Wednesday, killing a bystander, damaging vehicles and leading police on chase before being destroyed.

Employees of the city owned-slaughterhouse on the southeastern corner of San Luis Rio Colorado said the drama began around noon when the cow jumped over the railing of pen used to restrain it.

They are prey animals, and herbivores, but they’re also big and heavy and have more than enough power to kill a human.

Still not a “Gun Death” and those who tout that flawed metric will continue to eat beef without a thought of “Common Sense Regulation”.

Images of the Antis: Blood Dancing

This one is just egregious.

First up I can find nothing about Erica Lafferty living in the state of Massachusetts where Senator Ayotte was elected and represents. Further the idea that background checks has ANYTHING to do with the crimes at Sandy Hook is purely foolish.

The bottom line is Ms. Lafferty’s mother rushed to save the kids with no tools to defend them. The killer chose the school because of this. Background checks are irrelevant, and Senator Ayotte is NOT your senator.

This is nothing more than blood dancing to advance a political agenda.

I’m sorry for your loss, but shame on you!

Holiday Security Theater

Might as well twist the dagger on the perverts in blue.

Other prohibited items are your 4th Amendment rights, as the TSA secure area is evidently NOT America.

Disband the TSA Yesterday and start the public trials.

Live By The Sword…

Die a Natural death at age 94.

Back when I dealt with more idiotic anti-gun people they would often quote the Bible (and I doubt any of them were Christian) “He who lives by the sword, dies by the sword”.

Of course that’s bull. People like Mikhail Kalashnikov, and Jeff Cooper, and any number of modern-day warriors simply go on to live a life like any other smug pacifist.

I’ll say, my Romanian AK-47 was the only gun I’ve ever owned that I simply didn’t want to own or shoot anymore. I sold it and bought an FAL that I’m totally in love with. I’m also not a fan of the Soviet Empire and all it stood for.

Still one must admire Mr. Kalashnikov for his rifle design, and all who copied it in various means, and all who have fought with it.

Also it is great that such a man lived to such a ripe age.

“Gun Death” Suicide Attempt

Those that use the metric of “Gun Death” cling to suicides because they make up the bulk of “Gun Deaths” in this nation. Still the majority suicides are ignored because they don’t fit the agenda.

A former Fortune 500 executive told police he was trying to kill himself when he drove his pickup truck across the grassy median of a New Hampshire highway on Saturday and slammed into an SUV. What happened instead: He killed an expectant couple inside, prosecutors said yesterday.

Horrible! That’s three lives lost, and one sad individual who will likely spend a long time in prison. Most of the times when I do this story I only wish that the victim had defended themselves, with a gun or otherwise. In this case I really wish this jerk had chosen a gun, or many other methods to end his life.

It was New Hampshire where the gun laws are lax, and this guy likely had enough money to buy a hi-point and a box of hollow points. You never hear of somebody attempting to shoot themselves and wiping out an entire family…
