Reads for Today

Some good reads from other blogs.

First up Miguel exposes the hypocrisy and open bigotry of CSGV. Really they hate civilian gun ownership, and are all for an armed State because those will be the people to round up and potentially kill us freedom-loving gunnies.

At least in their perverse fantasy world.

And Rick again talking about WHY there is such a difference between US and UK Murder rates. Its all in how they present the numbers.

Good Stuff!

“Gun Death” Licenses

Remember permits save lives!!!

A woman with a suspended driver’s license turned herself in Thursday for the hit-and-run crash that put a Lewis and Clark College student in the hospital.

Henry Schmidt, 20, was riding his bicycle home from work at 12:50 a.m. Aug. 16 when he got a flat tire. He was then hit by a car near the intersection of Southwest Barbur Boulevard and Capitol Highway. Police said the driver kept going.

A bus driver found the man in the road, pulled over and called 911. Two passengers on the bus called the man’s parents from his cell phone at the scene.

He’s lucky to be alive, but thank goodness we license drivers, so when we take the licenses away criminals stop driving!!!

Another Oddity Ishy .410

Weird!

I have an Ishapore 2A Rifle in 7.62x51mm NATO, and I find it to be a very cool gun for my collection it is one of the poorest examples of the Enfield Rifle family.
Ishapore Enfield 2A

Still very interesting that the Indians would convert a large-capacity (.303 Rifles held 10 rounds, 7.62 Rifles held 12) repeating rifle and convert it to a single-shot shotgun. Further VERY interesting to see the Indian Brass-Cased shotshells they had.

Also he notes that Indians are still using these shotguns. Further Indian police are still using the 7.62x51mm 2A and 2A1 Rifles as “Patrol Rifles”, and in fact under-trained Indian police were heavily outgunned in the Mumbai Terrorist attack against the AKM Wielding Pakistanis.

As useless and clunky as it is, I’d buy one in a heartbeat. Further I don’t have a single shotgun in .410, and I might not even bother buying shells, I’d just HAVE it.

Doctors Against Obama Care

Yep, I saw the same things with the doctors I know every time insurance prices rise, or malpractice suits becomes even more onerous. They just quit. Now we’re looking at politics taking away many of the things that draw good, smart people into becoming doctors.

How many Doctors will remain post-Obamacare? Further how many college grads will be at all interested in entering medical school and doing the grueling residencies so they too can become doctors when this is the end result?

Zimmerman Derrangement Sydrome

You gotta love how much unabashed hatred the “Progressives” have against George Zimmerman. Case and Point, Joan Peterson:

Can we talk about George Zimmerman after he was acquitted of the murder of Trayvon Martin? There was a lot of celebration by those on the right who thought Zimmerman did the right thing and was just acting in “self defense”. He stood his ground against a young black teen walking in the neighborhood doing nothing wrong. So Zimmerman was just exercising his rights, right?

Let’s look at how this “law abiding” citizen has conducted himself since his acquittal.

Well minus the “Assaulting a total stranger” thing, and if we want to get all puritanical, using illegal drugs. Personally I don’t care that Martin was a habitual marijuana user. His “Thug Culture” ties, and love for violence is a bigger concern, but I’m playing by Joan’s rules. Let’s look at the “Crimes” of George Zimmerman:

He got his gun and his permit to carry a loaded gun around in public again even though we all know he shot a young man to death.

He was found by a judge and jury of his peers to have committed no crimes. Yeah, “not guilty” happens to directly translate to NOT GUILTY. I’m not sure which word Joan is having trouble with, the “not”, or the “guilty” one.

He was caught lying about rescuing some people in a likely false car accident in order to generate sympathy for him.

A hair-brained conspiracy theory about as well supported as Israel blowing up the world trade center with a controlled demolition, and the Pentagon being struck by cruise missiles. Joan has spoken multiple times about Zimmerman alleged faking a car accident and subsequent rescue…along with an alleged conspiracy from a cabal of Florida Peace Officers, I wonder if she’s concerned about the giant prison under the Denver Airport

He visited a gun manufacturer.

Oh the horror! I suspect his photo-op Joan links netted him some free guns. If I was Kel-Tec that’s EXACTLY what I would do. Feel however you do about the shooting of Trayvon Martin, this case is a prime example that Kel-Tec firearms, which have a reputation of dubious quality, actually work how they are supposed to. Its hard to argue with a real-world story.

He was caught speeding in Texas with a gun in his glove compartment.

OH THE HORROR!!!! He is licensed to carry, and carrying guns in this fashion is 100% legal. Further he’s had multiple documented death threats against him. So the only “Naughty” thing is exceeding the posted speed limit. Also I think we all are aware of how some small towns enforce their speed limits. Further the officer did not cite Zimmerman for any crimes or violations.

He was caught speeding again today.

Yep, this time he got a ticket. Good, maybe he’ll watch his speed from now on.

He wants the state of Florida to pay for his defense costs.

Given the number of professionals who openly stated that there were no grounds to charge him, as well as the VERY dubious, and ineffectual case the state made against him, yes. Not only is George Zimmerman not-guilty of murdering Trayvon Martin, Florida is GUILTY of filing frivolous charges against Mr. Zimmerman, and they should be punished for that.

So these are the folks exemplifying the Stand Your Ground laws and poster children for the corporate gun lobby. This stupid and dangerous behavior is what our American gun culture is all about. This is the America we have. Is this the America we want or deserve? Raise your hand if you think George Zimmerman has or had any common sense concerning guns or just about anything for that matter.

So two speeding citations and visiting a gun factory is “proof” of all of this?

He is perfectly clueless and narcissistic enough to carry on with his life as if nothing has happened. He took the life of another human being. Exhibiting an ounce of sensitivity, modesty, some understanding of his situation, and a modicum of restraint would serve him better. Instead his “in your face”and arrogant behavior is thumbing his nose at the world. And these are the folks we allow to carry loaded guns around in public. Enough is enough. It’s time for a change.

Oh yeah anybody sane can CLEARLY see that. WOW! Joan like her friends as CSGV simply want Zimmerman MURDERED! And not because he defended his life, but because he has a gun and a carry permit and in the Anti-Gun mind that is a capital offense.

“Gun Death” Unhappy Girlfriend

Not a “Gun Death”

Prosecutors say a Minnesota woman beat her boyfriend to death, wrapped his body in plastic and hid it in a freezer because he was trying to break up with her…A criminal complaint says the 29-year-old Wheeler told investigators the man had taken the bus back to Chicago. Detectives say when they searched the couple’s house Aug. 21, they found bloody carpet under Wheeler’s mattress. Blood spatter led them to the garage where they found the body in the freezer.

Why would ANYBODY break up with such a great girlfriend?

No gun, no “Gun Death”

Science of Sarin

However you feel about the horrible buisness in Syria, many of you might not understand how Sarin works. Sci Show explains:

The one thing I’ll point out is that survivors of Sarin might fully recover, it still can leave victims horribly disabled. A Japanese friend of mine lent me a book he was reading about the Aum Subway attack in Tokyo and many of the stories were about survivors who were horribly disabled from near-fatal exposure to the Sarin used in the attack.

I don’t have the book anymore, but I believe it was this one. You can buy it here.

Standing Armies

Man, this is a crazy story. I really think our Police Forces have become the “Standing Armies” our founding fathers warned us about.

A task force including members of 10 state and federal law enforcement agencies descended on a gold mine in the tiny town of Chicken (pop. 17) last month, in what locals described as a raid.

“Imagine coming up to your diggings, only to see agents swarming over it like ants, wearing full body armor, with jackets that say “POLICE” emblazoned on them, and all packing side arms,” gold miner C.R. Hammond told the Alaska Dispatch. “How would you have felt? You would be wondering, ‘My God, what have I done now?”

“Imagine coming up to your diggings, only to see agents swarming over it like ants, wearing full body armor, with jackets that say POLICE emblazoned on them, and all packing side arms.”

– C.R. Hammond, gold miner

A spokesman for the federal Environmental Protection Agency did not deny that agents wore body armor and carried guns, but said it was not a “raid.”

Think of the scope of this, they nearly DOUBLED the town population with up-armored police “Task Forces”. Why?

The investigation was into possible violations of the Clean Water Act, according to the EPA. The officers were part of the Alaska Environmental Crimes Task Force and visited the outpost near the Canadian border during the third week of August to investigate water discharges into rivers, streams, lakes and oceans….The raid, according to one Senate staffer close to the matter, was conducted as such because of information received from the Alaska State Troopers about rampant “drug and human trafficking” in the area, the Alaska Dispatch reports.

That purported explanation was seemingly debunked by a spokeswoman for the law enforcement agency who told the newspaper that it did not advise EPA officials to conduct the raid, adding that no evidence exists to believe those crimes are occurring. Calls seeking additional comment from the Alaska State Troopers were not returned early Friday.

WTF??? I’m all for making sure people aren’t raping the land and communal water ways while conducting their business, but this appears to be an exercise for nothing. If this had NOT been a government entity it would be called “A Hoax”.

These law enforcement task forces and SWAT teams are the standing armies our founding fathers warned us about!

“Gun Death” Buddhist Monk

This is a really sad story:

Police said just after noon Friday, two suspects robbed an elderly man after pulling him outside his home and beating him senseless with a pipe.

The homeowner was unconscious on his porch for almost 24 hours.

Officers said he finally woke up around 2:30 p.m. Saturday and dragged himself inside to call 911.

“He really doesn`t even have anything to steal. I`m just in shock that this happened,” neighbor Joel Ortiz said.

Joel Ortiz said he knows his neighbor as “Tony,” saying he is a devout Buddhist monk and a good friend.

He was horrified when he found out what happened.

“I did peek in the ambulance as they were fixing to leave,” he said. “I didn’t know it was even going on until I saw the ambulance and stuff here. Black eyes, all his teeth knocked out, beaten badly.”

Sounds like “Tony” was a pacifist and would have simply given up anything the thieves wanted. Looks like what they REALLY wanted was to cave another man’s head in.

It sounds like the monk will make a recovery, but he was already impoverished and cares for abandoned animals on his farm, the medical bills and recovery will likely leave him totally destitute and dependent on his neighbors.

While I support and respect his pacifist religious beliefs, I don’t at all agree with them. When a bad man, or a group of bad men attack and attempt to kill a good man, I don’t think the good man should be harmed.

I would be MUCH happier if this story ended with a “Gun Death” or even a PAIR of “Gun Deaths”. Meanwhile the anti-rights people are fine with this. No guns in anybody’s hands, and a weak old man being beaten nearly to death by some evil young men. This is “Utopia” to them.

“Gun Death” Booby Trap

Here’s another unintended consequence of the War on Drugs

A New York man died after being nearly decapitated by a booby trap he set to protect marijuana plants on his property….The wire appeared to be the type used in pianos, but Apple said it’s unclear what purpose it served as a security measure. Other components of the booby traps included barbed wire and a leg trap similar to those used to trap coyotes.

Let’s take a high-dollar item on my property. Say my Car, or my Lawn Mower. Some jerk steals it, I’ll be upset, but I can call the cops and they’ll look for it for me. I can also call my insurance company and they’ll cover the theft.

You can’t do that if your valuable commodity is contraband. Now first up, a Marijuana plant is valuable. Think about that, pot is easy to get a hold of, and often you’ll get a few seeds in with your product. These seeds are easy to grow, I’ve seen more than a few people in college who had gotten a plant to sprout from discarded seeds. My Neighbor grows tomatoes. They’re wicked yummy and I enjoy them…yet nobody steals her tomato plants. They aren’t worth it.

That’s because tomatoes are legal. You want a tomato plant, just grow your own, or go to a grocery store or farmer’s market and buy some.

Now this weed is valuable because its illegal, and because its illegal you can’t call the cops, so you need to protect it on your own. These traps were the protection, and they killed somebody.

End the War on Drugs, and quit claiming only “Gun Deaths” count.
