Good Job, Governor!

Florida Governor Criticizes Jesse Jackson

Florida Gov. Rick Scott is sharply criticizing Jesse Jackson over comments he made while joining a Capitol protest.

Jackson spent time this week with a group upset with the not guilty verdict in the George Zimmerman trial. They’ve refused to leave the Capitol until Scott calls a special session and asks legislators to overhaul the state’s self-defense laws.

Scott so far has refused the request…..Scott in a release blasted Jackson’s comments as “reckless” and “divisive.” He says that Jackson should apologize for his remarks, which he also called insulting.

Good, don’t stand for the race baiters, and don’t let them get away with their actions simply because of political correctness!

“Gun Death” Modern Medicine

I’ll admit, there is a good deal of “Gun Death” in America. Even more than many other countries. Why? Well because we have a lot of gun here. This also means there are a lot of lives SAVED with guns. Its just the cost of doing business, and all research points that the cost is “well spent”. Still those who use the metric of “Gun Death” to push an agenda seem to think we must accept ZERO “Gun Death” and banning guns must be done until the impossible is achieved! Does that translate to other things?

Nearly 48,000 women died of prescription painkiller* overdoses between 1999 and 2010.
Woman shape with an upward pointing arrow
400%
Deaths from prescription painkiller overdoses among women have increased more than 400% since 1999, compared to 265% among men.

For every woman who dies of a prescription painkiller overdose, 30 go to the emergency department for painkiller misuse or abuse.

About 18 women die every day of a prescription painkiller overdose in the US, more than 6,600 deaths in 2010. Prescription painkiller overdoses are an under-recognized and growing problem for women.

Although men are still more likely to die of prescription painkiller overdoses (more than 10,000 deaths in 2010), the gap between men and women is closing. Deaths from prescription painkiller overdose among women have risen more sharply than among men; since 1999 the percentage increase in deaths was more than 400% among women compared to 265% in men. This rise relates closely to increased prescribing of these drugs during the past decade. Health care providers can help improve the way painkillers are prescribed while making sure women have access to safe, effective pain treatment.

Man, those numbers are really close to the 30,000 “Gun Deaths” per year, and when you factor in men into the equation it appears the number exceeds “Gun Deaths” by a fair amount.

But Progressives NEEEEEED their prescription medicines! Also with all the socialist medicine politics, they NEEEEED them to be paid for by the rest of us!

Can you imagine if gun owners were that brazen?

I Chose Wrong

The Wii U is a cool console….but it has NO games.

People are talking of Nintendo’s demise:

More here:

To say that Nintendo’s Wii U had a troubling fiscal first quarter might be an understatement.

The game company on Wednesday announced that during that period during April, May, and June , it sold only 160,000 Wii U units worldwide, bringing its grand total since its launch last year to just 3.6 million units sold. During the three-month period, Nintendo sold just a little over 1 million software units globally.

Each month, research firm NPD releases market data on the U.S. gaming market, and although it doesn’t announce console unit sales figures, it’s been clear that the Wii U isn’t selling well. That the console is having such trouble elsewhere around the world, as well, speaks to just how unpopular the Wii U is.

Still, maybe its time to hang up the video games. I simply refuse to play a FPS with a conventional game controller. I’m also fed up with the constant hardware upgrades needed to keep current with PC games.

I guess its no huge loss, as I DO have a baby on the way, and likely wouldn’t have the spare time needed to play games that don’t run on my phone….

Quote of the Day: Hot Air

On George Zimmerman’s traffic stop:

But I guess if, like Piers Morgan, you’re intent on believing for your own political reasons that Zimmerman is a murderer despite what Florida cops, a Florida jury, and the vast bulk of the evidence say, then yeah, obviously you’ll be pretend-concerned to be reminded that he’s out there, just waiting to trick an unsuspecting teen into bashing his head against the sidewalk as a pretext to shooting him. Or maybe I’m giving them too much credit. Maybe this is just the media equivalent of a BOLO, to remind Zimmerman that no matter where he goes, his whereabouts will be publicized. If they can’t get him on a murder charge, they can at least make sure he sleeps with one eye open. TMZ was even nice enough to post the dashboard-cam photo of Zimmerman’s truck and to note that he was traveling without a disguise. Better not turn the lights out tonight, murderer.

Yep, Lynch Mob!

More Comparisons to “Progressives” and Stone Age Cultures.

It really is appropriate:

Interesting in the comparison to WWII Cargo Cults. Really with things like Marxism “In the Right Hands”, “Climate Change”, and gun control saving lives, it really seems that “Progressives” are the real religious fanatics in the political schemes.

“Gun Death” Bathroom Etiquette

This is an interesting story:

A Long Island woman collapsed and died in a Bay Shore health club’s bathroom because a male employee refused to enter the women’s locker room to try to save her, a lawsuit claims.

Emily Hamlin, 22, was in a ladies’-room stall at Planet Fitness on Route 27 during an early-morning workout when another gym member heard her drop to the floor, the legal papers say….“He said he didn’t know what to do and that he wasn’t allowed to go into the ladies’ bathroom,” Dick said in her sworn affidavit.

This is one of those “Damned if you do, Damned if you Don’t” scenarios. If the woman had simply slipped, and the man opened the door, he could be fired, or sued for offending her honor, now he’s being sued for essentially following the rules.

No matter what, not a “gun death”!

Well that Was Interesting

Looks like a prisoner made a grab for an officer’s gun when he was being admitted to Mass General Hospital for medical attention.

A prisoner being guarded by two Middlesex County deputy sheriffs at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary tried to grab a gun from one of the deputies. The gun went off during the deperate struggle, injuring the deputy, but the prisoner was then shot by the second deputy, Boston police said.

The prisoner is in critical condition at Massachusetts General Hospital. The deputy, who was shot in the leg, is also being treated at MGH, Police Commissioner Edward F. Davis said.

When I first heard this story I was wondering how the prisoner got his hand on the deputy’s gun. I haven’t gotten a close look at these officer’s duty holsters, but most of the cops around here have a double-retention holster which I would probably be flummoxed at getting the gun out even with the Cop’s cooperation.

From this story it sounds like the officer was attempting to gain control of the gun in the struggle and gave himself some good old fashioned “Glock Leg”.

The officer will most likely recover…sadly MGH is one of the best hospitals in the nation, so the prisoner will likely recover too.
