Grenade Launcher

Anybody who read the 1994 Assault Weapons ban might have noticed that “Grenade Launcher” is one of the features listed as bad, and could have lead to the banning of your gun if it had one other “Bad” feature.

Of course reasonable people would assume it meant centerfire grenade launchers like the M203. Only the M203 is its own firearm, and an NFA item to boot.

Nope the law was talking about this relic of warfare past:

Kinda neat! Not very practical as to go from launching bullets to grenades you need to clear the rifle, chamber a blank round, and switch the gas system over to “Grenade” (which is simply a cool way of saying it blocks the gas port to the piston so the rifle won’t cycle, and all the gas will drive the grenade), THEN you must put the grenade on the launcher, arm the grenade, aim using the grenade sights, and fire.

To convert back to bullets, you need to manually clear the action as your gun should not have cycled and ejected the blank shell, switch the gas system back to its normal open position, then load the firearm with live ammo.

Not as Bad As You Might Think!

So I talked on the last Squirrel Report about how I wanted to try the Buxton Carbomb for Independence day.

Well we gathered the materiel components and we made that happen!

Buxton Carbomb

(Sorry for the Crappy Photo, I should have checked it before I started drinking the equipment)

So we’re dealing with Allen’s Coffee Brandy dropped into a Bud Light, muck like a boilermaker or an Irish Carbomb.

So we should all know Bud Light, its light and nearly flavorless. The Allen’s is what it is, given that it tastes like strong black coffee with some sugar to sweeten it up.

When the two mix the beer thins out the dark coffee flavor, and the coffee flavor adds a bitter, dark-larger sort of flavor to the beer.

This is hardly alchemy nor is it a great drink…still it was potable and intoxicating.

Or in shorter terms: Its not as bad as you might think!

Called It!

To Quote Myself!

No word on the prior convictions of the monster…something tells me that was an omission of the reporter. Guys that do this tend to have a decent jacket before they get this savage.

Here’s the news!

A man accused of attacking a New Jersey woman as she watched cartoons with her 3-year-old and while being recorded by a nanny cam was once sentenced to 10 years in prison for a similar crime.

The Star-Ledger reports that public records show Shawn Custis pleaded guilty to a 1991 case in Delran.

Authorities say he broke into a house 22 years ago and started going through a jewelry box in a bedroom, then hid in a closet when the front door opened before attacking the woman who lived there in front of her 18-month-old daughter.

He has been convicted since then of 12 different felonies around New Jersey, according to the newspaper.

New Jersey bans guns and deeply restricts carry while they let the criminals run free! Bad Justice!

Anti-Gun is really just pro-criminal!

For Mrs. Weer’d

The Fox woke us up the other night. She was standing on top of the neighbors car making a horrible racket…then moved on.

Mrs. Weer’d wondered why she wasn’t in a more wooded area. I noted that foxes do just fine in even more urban areas than ours.

Point in case.

That’s not Sherwood Forrest!

Why I don’t Like Incendiary Rounds

Or tracers for that matter…

Good on them for owning their mistake, and I’m glad nobody got hurt, and no substantial property damage.

Just look at all the small fires that one dragon’s breath round started!

If you REALLY want to play with this crap do it in a nice closed range where you can see the smoke and fire, and have both extinguishers (plural) AND water. A shovel for digging a fire break.

“Gun Death” Chicago Mother

Yep

Murder charges have been filed against a 21-year-old woman who stabbed her 5-month-old son to death, then stabbed herself in a motel on North Lincoln Avenue in Chicago.

Kimberlynn Bolanos, of the 2700 block of West Balmoral Avenue, is facing one count of first-degree murder. She remains at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center with wounds to her abdomen, police said.

In Chicago “Gun Death” is commonplace…but not in this case…

Interesting Google Search

So part of my Independence Day festivities will be indulging in a Buxton Carbomb, I ran that phrase into google…and was surprised with what I found.

A third man’s been jailed after a bomb was found under a car in Buxton in Norfolk.

30-year-old Paul Gregory supplied explosives used in a plot to blow up a car in Buxton and has been jailed for four years.

He admitted making the explosive material used in a device placed under a car in Coltishall Road on Sunday 2 September last year….Detectives Constable Graham Finney, who worked on the investigation, said: “The device could have caused serious damage to life and property, and it is fortunate that it was spotted before the vehicle was driven.

“Gregory is a troubled individual who thought nothing of making, storing or using explosives. He appears to have been manipulated by Taylor and Gregory not only endangered people in Buxton by providing explosives, but he has also risked the lives of those living near him as more of the explosive compound was found concealed in his house.

“It is pleasing to see these men behind bars with lengthy custodial sentences.”

So there turns out to be a Buxton in the UK, and despite all their laws the yobs there are cooking up terrorist infernal devices.

So much for “Gun Death”.
