Oh The Great Social Experiment

Via Thirdpower, Governor Quinn of Illinois talks about the horrors of Concealed carry.

Chicago News and Weather | FOX 32 News

I mean, the HORROR of people being able to carry LOADED guns around. That’s a “Recipe for Disaster”! I mean 49 other states allow some form of carry, and about 42 of those states are straight-up Shall-issue, meaning that if you can pass a criminal background check, and possibly pass a safety course you get to carry a loaded gun.

Oh and the HORROR of people being able to carry where ALCOHOL is served! Of course there’s the false dichotomy of “Guns and Alcohol don’t Mix”…duhhh! And no state allows drunks to carry. But if you’re not drinking, or not impaired (depending on your state’s laws) Most states allow carry in an establishment where alcohol is sold and consumed!

The same crap comes when Massachusetts wants to lift the ban on fireworks, or allow grocery stores to sell beer. Somehow this “Great Social Experiment” line flies. What is with people who live in a state with odd restrictions A) Thinking ALL states are as byzantine as them, and B) Joining EVERY OTHER STATE in the Union will some how result in the state quickly degenerating to scene from Mad Max or The Road???

On a great note, while Illinois struggles to Join the 1990s with their carry laws, Arkansas is Joining the future of carry by making the carry permit a formality!

Good for them!

“Gun Death” Dog Pack

Carry your guns people, not just for the two-legged predators!

Residents in the Antelope Valley town of Littlerock say a fatal mauling by a pack of pit bulls earlier this month wasn’t the first time homeowners there have encountered the aggressive animals.

Kimberly Eslick, 29, lives with her family near the intersection of Ave. R-8 and E. 113th St. She said they moved into the house about three years ago and said they see stray dogs all the time. Pit bulls used to sleep on their front porch and now there are dogs everywhere, she said.

“There’s stray dogs running all over, all the time,” said her mother-in-law, Carolyn Eslick, 54.

Not a “Gun Death”, but what’s the solution?

Kimberly Eslick’s husband complained to the Sheriff’s Department once about the stray dogs, and he said the response was, “Why don’t you just shoot them?”

That’s the approach Jane Hammer, 60, and her husband take.

Hammer, 60, said she carries a handgun with a hot-pink handle.

She keeps it on a lanyard around her neck every time she leaves her house.

Quote of the Day: Sheep

I was really amazed by this post of Joyce Foundation-Stooge Jason “Baldr” Kilgore.

Here’s a scenario for you: You arrive to your home, expecting that no one is present. But when you arrive, you find a thief has broken in and is currently trying to rob the place. You’re alone, but armed. They appear unarmed, and upon seeing you, try to run away. What do you do?

Do you turn and drive away, then call 911?

Or do you pull your gun and start shooting?

I’ve seen this scenario reported from time to time, and all too often the gun guys pull their gun and start blasting. Consider, for instance, the following newsreport, from Myrtle Creek, in gun-happy southern Oregon…My comment on that first article was, “Nothing I own is worth killing over.”

So Jason has resorted to trolling for blogfodder. I guess I can’t blame him, even with a Joyce Grant he can’t manage to throw up more than two posts a month…if I post less than twice in a day I feel like I’ve let my readers down.

Still he cherry picks between the random couch commandos who are arguing with him on the news board, but frankly the big glaring thing that got me is weather he’s lying or THAT bad a person.

You see, Mr. Kilgore lives with his wife and two children.

NOTHING in your house is worth killing over? Look I understand the cherry-picked statement he’s trying to make. I’ve got a box of old clothes and things that once I fill I’ll cart to a donation center…I guess if somebody steals it, its kinda doing me a favor. Same with if I looked out my door and saw some jerk walking down the street with my lawnmower. Yeah that’s a few hundred dollars I’m out….but frankly I wouldn’t shoot a man in the back over it.

But its not like home invasions work like that.

Jason, can you picture your wife under the blur? Can you imagine your children watching this in horror? What if the thug wasn’t JUST content in beating your wife to death and instead wanted to rape her and your kids?

My wife is worth killing for, and I hope nobody tests me on that. And you think I would be ruthless defending my wife….I have a daughter on the way.

You don’t know the intentions of a home invader, what you DO know is honorable people DO not invade homes.

“Gun Death” WHAT?????

No Really

The whole “pain for pleasure” thing does have its risks, which 29-year-old Kirsten Taylor found out first hand when her husband electrocuted her nipples until she died. Out of embarrassment, her husband said that her death had been caused by a shock from her hair dryer, but later admitted that the death had been caused by “electric shock sex” after the police presumably questioned why she was drying her nipples. He was later charged with her murder.

WTF?????

Never Fear a Used Gun

I buy almost exclusively used guns. I know some people who are afraid of used guns. No need if you know what to look for!

I do this to EVERY used gun I plan to buy. It’s served me well!

For Utah Runners…With Guns

Rather than Gun Runners

Running with scissors is generally considered a risky endeavor, but one group of Utah residents says running with a gun isn’t.

Organizers of the “Run 4 Guns” planned for this fall in Spanish Fork, Utah, are touting the event as the nation’s first open carry run.

The group is inviting runners to bring not only their tennis shoes and water bottles, but their gun holsters, as well.

Organizer Macgregor Whiting of Mapleton said the September 5K race, which was first reported by Salt Lake City Weekly, aims to celebrate Second Amendment rights and show that gun owners are responsible, normal people. In addition to the 3.1 mile race, they’ll have a half-mile “armed dash.”

Proceeds from the event will go toward victims of gun violence, Whiting said.

There are lots of reports of runners being attacked, not only by muggers and rapists, but also feral dogs and other wildlife. Running with a gun is a generally good idea!

3D Printers Save Ducks!

3D Printers, not just for printing firearms!

Engineers at NovaCopy were able to save this adorable duck’s life by building him a prosthetic webbed foot that allowed him to swim. The duck was born with a backwards foot that had to be amputated, but modern science stepped in to save the day with a replacement foot that was printed from a mold, made by NovaCopy. The permanent prosthetic took around 13 hours to print, and demonstrates the incredible usefulness of rapid prototyping technology.

Another Gun Control Sucess Story

New York City has some of the toughest gun laws in the nation!

Nine people were shot and wounded, one of them critically, after a dispute at a house party in Brooklyn, New York, early Sunday, police said.

Five women and four men – all adults – were injured when shots rang out at the domestic celebration in the district’s East 57th Street shortly after 1 a.m. ET, a spokesman for the Deputy Commissioner for Public Information at the New York Police Department confirmed.

One of the victims was admitted to the hospital with “life-threatening” injuries, the DCPI said. Her condition later improved and she is now in stable condition.

It remained unclear how many people fired shots, according to police.

Thanks to New York’s tough laws there was a substantial firefight in Brooklyn, but no “GUN DEATH”! You see? New York guns are “Safer”! You see if somebody had a gun this could have turned deadly….oh wait.

Also note that New York has a strict gun registration policy. This will help law enforcement solve this case!

No arrests were made, and no suspects identified.

Get that? Gun registration, and this was an alleged “dispute”, not a drive-by shooting, or stray bullets, and NINE people caught lead, yet nobody can identify a shooter?

We frequently see cut-and-dry cases like this go cold in the inner city because the attacks are gang related. Cops don’t have the Hollywood magic you see in CSI and NCIS, they rely almost exclusively on eyewitness accounts. People shut up because the gangs will kill them if they “snitch”.

H/t To Joan Peterson of the Brady Campaign and the Joyce Foundation who brought this story to my attention 100% unaware of what its implications REALLY are.
