Something for the Nightstand

Cool 50 round Drum Mag for the Glock 9mm!

I’m impressed with the price! Most drum magazines cost 2-3x the price of conventional magazines for the same amount of rounds. Cool for range use and just fun-factor. But also I see things like this as being ideal for your bump-in-the-night gun. When I carry my 1911 I have 25 rounds spread between the gun and my magazines. Others who use double-stacks may have 50 or more rounds on their body…but that’s in mag carriers. Who has mag pouches on their nightstand? I don’t. I have spare mags in case I need to bunker down in my bedroom, but if I go looking for the source of a strange noise at night I’ll just have what’s in the gun. That can limit things tactically. Other people might bring a carbine which solves some of that, but at times I’ve answered the door armed to an unannounced visitor at night, and with a pistol you can conceal the gun easily, either under your clothes or behind the door you’re opening without causing concern to what you have determined to be a non-threat. Also a pistol lets you have a hand free to open doors or manipulate things while still having the gun at full-ready. I prefer handguns, and having a HUGE magazine is nothing but awesome.

Oh and for carbine fans, if you have a carbine that eats from Glock Magazines? Yeah this is for you!

Also any other reason to buy something better than the fact that its illegal in New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, and California?

Serves Them Right!

SWAT Drone Crashes into SWAT Team

The Montgomery County sheriff’s office in Texas had planned a big photo opportunity with their newly acquired surveillance drone. It all went horrible wrong when, according to the Examiner, “[The] prototype drone was flying about 18 feet off the ground [and] it lost contact with the controller’s console on the ground. It’s designed to go into an auto shutdown mode … but when it was coming down, the drone crashed into the SWAT team’s armored vehicle.” (The SWAT team had suited up, armored vehicle on hand, for the purpose of the photo.)

I’ve said it before, Police SWAT teams are the standing armies that our Founding Fathers warned us about. Its the SWAT teams doing the lion’s share of work crushing our Constitutional rights with no-knock raids, and massive displays of force against relatively low crimes that can easily be dispatched with standard beat officers, especially these days when every cop is wearing quality body armor, and has an AR in their cruiser.

And this shows it best! Not only do they need to showcase their new drone, but they’re doing it in full battle armor. You don’t see the regular beat cops doing photo ops, because we KNOW why they’re there, and use them! They uphold our laws, and do it reasonably. SWAT teams are beyond the pale, so they’re in DESPERATE need for positive PR to justify their military weapons and equipment, and their bloated budgets that are simply used to bust pot dealers, and mess-up non-threats.

Now their super-expensive 4th Amendment violation came crashing into their expensive armored vehicle, and sent their hardened shock-troops running for cover.

GOOD!

“Gun Death” Shoving Match

Another Sports Dispute that ends in Death:

A Pennsylvania man is charged with manslaughter after police say an alcohol-fueled shoving match over softball ended with his friend suffering a fatal head injury.

State police say 49-year-old Dennis Sprigg died nearly seven weeks after the Aug. 11 shoving match involving 51-year-old Randy Foor at Foor’s Bedford home. Police arrested Foor on Friday on charges of manslaughter and aggravated assault.

Police say Sprigg was knocked unconscious when he hit his head but briefly regained consciousness as medics tended to him.

Good thing there wasn’t a gun here, otherwise somebody might have been hurt! This is what we always hear from the antis, there is no way a shoving match, or a fist fight could end in death, hence why they want to ban guns, and focus on “Gun Death”.

Also Softball? Yeah somebody DIED from playing a bullshit bushleague sport!

Damn Youtube

Just noticed a ton of videos I’ve posted today from Youtube are messed up and are showing as the wrong video.

No idea what’s wrong except that maybe the recent youtube re-vamp is messed up.

I’ve fixed all I’ve seen with direct links, and hopefully youtube will fix the software issue in the near future.

If the video you just watched here at Weer’d World doesn’t seem to make sense, that’s probably youtube’s fault!

Sidebar Update

You’ll note over on my sidbar I have a new link to the Balloon Goes Up Store.

The store offers good gear at good prices, and I’m proud to be giving him some help!

I’ll occasionally be giving recommendations for products from his store to consider.

Today I’ll talk about the Kershaw Scallion by Ken Onion. My wife just recently bought this, she thought it would be a gift for me, but it never got that far. Its a small knife with a mild assisted opening system. My wife has small hands so prefers a smaller knife and this knife fits her hands really well. Also she’s not a knife freak, so she doesn’t have a ton of confidence with both deploying blades or closing assisted blades with strong springs. This knife is the perfect mix for her. The assist gives her that extra help in getting the blade into play, but doesn’t require much force to close.

Also the flipper tab works as a blade guard when the knife is locked open, meaning you have a bit more safety when cutting AND it can be used as a defensive edge.

Give it a look, and click the link so they know who sent you. Also that helps me out as a blogger, so double-bonus!

Yeager Students: Get Thee to a Good Class

Miguel has a post up on Yeager, and a case where one of his instructors faced flack because he was a Yeager Instructor.

I would advise ANYBODY who took a class from James Yeager go out and get some competent training STAT! I would recommend Mass Ayoob’s classes (FYI Ayoob helped get this guy out of hot water).

I would take the class, and have copies of my certificate, tests, and class notes stored in multiple theft and fire-resistant locations, ie home safe and bank safety deposit box. In the event they attempt to paint you with the Yeager Tar Brush, you can fall back on GOOD training advise and proof that you took it very seriously.

Yeager is likely boned because he’s directly engaged in criminal acts, but you don’t have to be!

Big Man

James “Buck” Yeager wants to kill you!

Awww Big Man, so tough!

More here at Endo

Even More from Linoge! Turns out carrying on like this is indeed a crime.

Good for him!

Oh and on a final note, expressing interest in killing somebody over an insult, no matter how crass it may be is NOT something you want a jury of your peers hearing if you’re ever in a lethal force scenario. Yeager has just found himself in the horrible legal limbo as this guy.

Let me note how the law works. My wife had for a time uncontrolled epilepsy and was under medical recommendations not to drive. Her license was still valid, as the state doesn’t get involved in such things. Still how the law works is if she, during this time, had been involved in an accident, would have been found to be negligent due to her illness and ignoring the orders of her doctors. It wouldn’t matter if she hit a patch of black ice, or if a kid ran out behind a parked car. She wasn’t supposed to drive, so legally it would be her fault.

We’re both glad those days are over. For Yeager, those days will never end. If I were him, I would stop carrying and owning guns because any use of force would likely have a hard burden to beat a murder rap.

Another video with a slightly more veiled threat on his own channel.

Yep, come over and meet him. If you INSULT him, he will get physical and potentially murder you. Not only is he a stupid and petty person, but he’s the LAST person you want to train with for the potential of a lethal force scenario.

Reason on the Football Murder

Great Video
Can’t seem to directly link it, so watch it here.
They make some very good points. First off people shouldn’t jump to make political hay as soon as something happens, certainly when those people are so crass as to ignore the big picture to make their issue look more relevant.

Still also I think that these issues should also be looked at for the data they provide. Are head injuries playing a part in these events? Substance Abuse? Violent “Thug Culture”? “Macho Culture”?

Charles Barkley comes out against Costas’ stupid remarks pointing out he was both a great star player, and a man known for his ferocity on the court…yet he’s managed to carry a gun with him for DECADES as a sports celebrity without negative instances.

Also amusing that John McEnroe is on there, a man who faced assault charges for throwing sawdust into the face of a fan, and is best known for being a petty and petulant bitch on the courts. Yeah I wonder why McEnroe loves the gun laws of his home town of New York City, since he obviously never learned to control his Monster

Sebastian links a great cartoon of what I think we all categorize as “Blood Dancing”.

Still I think Reason states it best, some people are just bad, and that’s the long and the short of it.

Erin’s Rifle

Erin had her modified 91/30 get a photoshoot from Oleg Volk.

I’ve kept all my Mosins as stock as I got them. Some have miss-matches, others have some modifications. I suspect all of these alterations were done by military people earning military pay to do it, so I consider it kosher.

While I wouldn’t personally do to one of my rifles**UPDATE** See Update Below, what Erin did, she sure seems happy about it, so why should I give a shit, nor should she care what I think. Sounds like its a crazy fun rifle for her to shoot, and isn’t that the whole point?

Also on the other hand I have Mosins I have never shot, and likely never will…and that’s the whole point. Just having a White-Army Tula rifle, or a Westinghouse with US Military alterations is reward enough for me. I also have a bunch that I shoot the doors off of, and that too is a joy.

Also I’ll point out that I know vets with artificial joints and limbs, and with skin grafts and other repairs. Do we call such soldiers “Bubba Jobs”? Nope. They’ve just been worked over so they live with a little more joy. Doesn’t make them any less of a war hero!

**UPDATE** Just talked with Erin, and all modifications to her rifle are 100% reversible, so this is NOT a “Bubba Job”, and I apologize for making such statements. What Erin did was 100% awesome, as its the best of both worlds. She has a fun-to-shoot gun AND can convert it back to a collector’s item whenever needed. Well played!
