A Discussion Question

First up, I suspect that the readers of Weer’d World aren’t representative of the general population, still I thought I’d get your opinions of this issue in American Law.

So we’ve all heard now about the “Terrorist” in New York who attempted to detonate a fake bomb supplied by an FBI plant. I’m not impressed by these stories as it appears to be law enforcement manufacturing a crime, and therefore hand-building a criminal.

Still, I thought I’d post a little more despicable, yet common case we read about all the time.

This is the case where the grown man is chatting with an “underage girl”. He flirts, gets sexy, then arranges a meeting. He arrives with sexual gear in tow, only to find his underage hookup is a grown male police officer.

Now Child predators are MONSTERS, and I honestly do wish the law was a little more lenient in shooting these bastards, because even tho an aware adult will scare them away, they’re still a predator in the wild, and I see them as no different as a coyote or a bear snooping around a populated area…they aren’t a problem NOW, but they are a FUTURE problem.

Still with these cases, like the “terrorists”, its a shadow of a serious crime….but there is no ACTUAL crime. He’s flirting and arranging a tryst with a grown adult. Does because he THINKS its an underage girl, or THINKS the bomb is real constitute a crime?

Also if there was no cop or FBI agent phishing for a “criminal”, would there ever be a crime then, or in the future?

For further discussion, I’ve known many people who have drank illegally at bars with a fake ID, or with a sibling’s ID that looked close enough to them as bad license photos go. The Bartender THINKS the person is legal, so they serve them. Are they breaking the law?

What say you, readers?

Occupy Keeping it Classy!

More love for the Occupy movement. First a “Protest”:

It’s difficult to argue with the goals of the World Food Prize Foundation – to recognize people who have helped improve the quality and availability of food to reduce world hunger.

But as the Des Moines-based foundation prepares for its 2012 award ceremony, which will be attended by dignitaries including Secretary-General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon, dozens of protesters hope to disrupt the activities….Organizer Frank Cordaro said he expected about 30 people to turn out Wednesday, with 10 willing to be arrested. By Wednesday afternoon, police arrested five activists on trespassing charges after they tried to enter a private event.

The group opposes what it sees as a focus on corporate agriculture motivated more by profit than food safety or protection of natural resources.

Super classy! I must say, protest is heavily protected in this nation, so if you’re planning on getting people clapped in irons, you’re doing more than just “Protest”.

And of course nothing like messing up some family fun!

Occupy Wall Street campers have made Halloween at a church in lower Manhattan simply too scary, church officials told FoxNews.com.

Citing an “abundance of caution,” the Rev. James Cooper of Trinity Church said the Episcopal parish at Broadway and Wall Street in Manhattan has canceled it popular Halloween activities due to safety issues arising from a sidewalk encampment in front of the place of worship…“The sidewalk is owned by the city, so we don’t have the legal power to remove people from the sidewalk, but it’s our responsibility to clean it,” she said. “We hose down the sidewalk and throw away the trash.”

Those cleanings, which occur twice daily at 7 a.m. and 6 p.m., typically lead to a “tense situation,” Hanick said.

“They will only get up if a white shirt — a lieutenant — is there,” she said. “It becomes a tense situation.”

The unidentified man was arrested and returned to the encampment the following day, said Hanick, adding that church officials have recently installed eight security cameras to monitor activity nearby. Anywhere from 25 to 50 people are camped outside at any given time, she said.

Again, this isn’t a protest, this is an unruly mob!

Carry your damn guns, because these people are anything but peaceful!

Free The Ducks!

Glad they’re free!

Almost a year after our initial efforts to rescue over 160 ducks, geese, turkeys and chickens that were living with a hoarder in appalling conditions, we were finally able to bring them to safety. They are now enjoying sunshine on their feathers, water to swim in, clean bedding, warmth, grass under their feet and room to roam for the very first time. Initially, we tried working with their owner towards an amicable surrender, pleading with her to consider the quality of life for the birds and used many of our own resources to help provide a cleaner environment for them. The hoarder’s initial intentions were good and her love for the animals apparent, but she neglected to see how their overcrowding, over-breeding, lack of shelter and space and filthy conditions were hurting them. She also continued to buy chicks and ducklings online and mail ordered to her.

I have no issue with keeping livestock, but they deserve respect!

If Only Hunter Was Alive!

So I heard that at the Debates Budweiser has been setting up a hospitality tent and giving free beer to reporters covering the event!

All I could think of was the press tent scene from Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas!

Gonzo Journalism isn’t dead, its just pretending to be straight!

“Gun Death” Anesthesia

I can’t believe this!

A Swedish man undergoing surgery died on the operating table after the anesthesiologist and a nurse went to lunch during the procedure, The Local reported.

The 72-year-old man was having a tumor removed at a hospital in Lidköping, Sweden, and had gone under anesthesia at 10:45 a.m. According to The Local, the head anesthesiologist then left at noon for lunch, followed by the head nurse anesthesiologist fifteen minutes later.

Now my experience with surgery is with rodents, which you simply don’t get the staff human surgery warrants. Sometimes you’re lucky enough to get a helper, but most often you’re going solo. One of the trickiest thing focusing on the job at hand AND taking a moment to make sure the anesthesia is doing what its supposed to do. Too light the animal could wake up, and possibly die, too heavy and they stop breathing.

Many people are surprised that the Anesthesiologist is actually the doctor in the OR that has the highest malpractice insurance, because independent of the perils of the operation, the anesthetics administered can be deadly if not properly monitored. When I first read the title I wondered if it was a more honest mistake, like the doctor finished the procedure, and had a nurse or tech suture up the incision, when something went wrong. Nope, the damn doctor who was monitoring the patients drug levels and vitals WENT TO DAMN LUNCH!!

And this is in a nation with socialized healthcare.

Hey, but no guns! No “gun death”! Just look the other way please!

I Think You Missed the Point

Mike at ENDO found this bizarre video.

No, I’m not afraid of you because you’re wearing a hoodie. But if you’re on drugs, trespassing, and physically assaulting me, yeah that’s kinda scary!

Oh and if anybody shows up at my doorstep wearing just a hoodie as their “Costume” and expect candy, they might not be so happy. Maybe they’ll get an apple!

Big Shake in Maine

Last light just after 7pm Maine had 4.0 Earthquake.

Talking with family, and of course Wally from York Arms which was right near the epicenter, and everybody is OK with no noticeable damage.

BTW a seismic event that collapses the big dig is one of my most-like SHTF scenarios!

Glad everybody is ok!

“Gun Death” Maiming

From New York, are you surprised?

A man suspected of slashing a 25-year-old youth soccer coach to death and slicing off his ear last weekend on a New York City street fled to Mexico City on Tuesday, a law enforcement official said.

Orlando Orea, also known as Orlando Gutierrez or Orlando Estevas, bought a one-way ticket on an Aero Mexico flight with cash moments before it was scheduled to leave from Kennedy International Airport on Tuesday morning, according to the official, who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the investigation was ongoing.

Detectives discovered Orea’s name at about 4:45 p.m. Tuesday and immediately placed him on a no-fly list, but he was already gone

So we have a knife death, and we have the joys of airport security! Good stuff! Still no, “Gun Death” so nothing to worry about!
