“Gun Death” Babysitter

Brutal!

A babysitter from suburban Illinois has been charged with killing a three-month-old baby girl who was in her care by slamming her head down on a wooden table after the child became fussy, according to police.

Illinois has a requirement for all gun owners to be licensed, but no such rules for babysitters!

Of course Illinois has a very high “Gun Death” rate, so the licensees on babysitters would probably do just as well. Still no gun used, no “Gun Death”!

More Low Hanging Fruit!

Them apples are damn near touching the ground, seems foolish to not pick them! 😀

The first series is a Joyce foundation campaign called “We Beat the NRA”. They’re taking minor victories and ignoring defeats to attempt to steam the hemorrhaging of money, and near-fatal lack of moral in the ranks.

Ok so this guy lost a son in Columbine massacre. But he’s talking about the “Gun Show Loophole” as if it has any relevance. It didn’t, as 18 year old Robyn Anderson bought four of the guns LEGALLY, then ILLEGALLY given to the shooters. These details are undisputed, and she never faced any charges. The law was broken, and justice was never served. Other people ILLEGALLY sold guns directly to the killers, and they served time in prison. Details can be found here. So the laws were passed because the anti-gun forces LIED. Also this was all back in 1999. That’s a long time ago politically.

Now this after a video on Columbine is pretty ironic. You don’t want LEGAL guns on campus, but we know that ILLEGAL guns show up, and while the legal ones pose no problems, the people who illegally bring guns to school strictly for murder.

Campus carry is gaining popularity, but its still well on the front-lines. Keep patting yourself on the back, we’ll get there.

Then there’s this comment from Joan Peterson:

Migo- explain to me how self defense is an inalienable right….Citizens need training. You guys try to tell me you are better trained than officers which is simply not true. I didn’t say you should be trained like an officer. I said you should have training to carry a gun around with you in public places. Just like you have to be trained to drive a car. You can’t get a license without training. How did the police training get in here?

We’ve talked about Police Qualifiers here, and you need to be a REALLY bad shot to not qualify. Of course many states DON’T require training, and many more don’t require live fire, or any serious live fire for permits, and of course there’s the growing rank of states that don’t even require permits (be it for just open, or all carry).

So not only will Joan never relent, but there’s no “Blood in the Streets”, so I guess training isn’t really all that relevant.

Of course she doesn’t believe you have a right to defend yourself, so she’s hardly a sane person.

Oh and remember she’s anti-freedom, not anti-gun.

In my home town, we have a lovely wooden walk way extending along the shores of Lake Superior from the Canal Park area of downtown to the far eastern end of Duluth. I walk on this Lakewalk often with friends and go there for gatherings ( it is near the Memorial for gun violence victims). The City Council in Duluth just recently decided that people will no longer be allowed to smoke cigarettes along this walk way….So, to stop nuisance crimes and improve the quality of life along the Lakewalk, there will be no smoking. Guns?- allowed on city property and can’t be prohibited. Is there something wrong with protecting citizens from gun crimes and gun violence along the Lakewalk by telling people their guns are not welcome along the walkway?

Again, why should they be banning smoking? Its not like the already spurious claims of second hand smoke are a problem outside on an open walkway. Sure people tossing their butts on the walkway is just nasty and bad manners, but the solution is just fine people for littering, and supply trash cans for the trash.

But no, Joan wants LESS freedom, ALWAYS! And of course notice how Joan just assumes that somebody legally carrying a gun is going to present a danger…or that the criminals who are KNOWN to be violent are really going to give a flying fuck about any laws.

We’re winning, and its because we’re dedicated and rational, and their side is splintered and insane!

Low Hanging Fruit

Time for another harvest! Let’s fisk this video!

First let’s give you an assignment before your watch it. Look out for pure unadulterated ignorance. These are questions the Brady Camp wants to ask the Presidential Candidates.

Imagine if these questions were for any other political issue:
“I Would like to ask the New York Mayor candidates what they will do about the problem of Albino Alligators in our sewers?”

Let’s run down the questions:
1: “Why We don’t have more regulation of Assault Rifles and other fully-automatic weapons?” Ummm because the NFA and the Hughes Amendment aren’t enough for you?

2:”What are we going to do about people coming into the United States and buying Assault Rifles and bringing them into Mexico?” Well again the NFA forbids transfer of fully-automatic weapons to foreign nationals. The Full-auto weapons the cartels have in Mexico are acquired from the Mexican government, South and Central America, and China, not the US. Like the first question I think this shining light was thinking about so-called “Assault Weapons”, which A) is a bullshit term, and B)The Semi-auto rifles the Cartels got from the United states all came directly from our of ATF and FBI. Oh and the Brady Campaign doesn’t care that the ATF and FBI were GIVING guns to Mexican criminals.

3: “How would you cut down on illegal gun trafficking?” Well since its already illegal, and you see it as a problem still, maybe we need more law enforcement to catch the criminals committing the crimes. Not exactly the Brady Campaign stance, but that’s the one that makes sense.

4: I’m not going to kill myself transcribing this smug idiot’s question its from 0:31-0:50. I’ll note he talks about “Armor Piercing Bullets” “Dum Dum Bullets”, “Clips that hold more than a few bullets because they’re not for hunting or militia purposes.” Seriously, completely ignorant on the gun issue, but boy is he impressed with himself! OK so I’ll save a snide comment about Dum Dum Arsenal and just point out his first question is asking about things that aren’t defined in common parlance or in legal terms. The second half he throws in a smug reference to “constitutional protection” in reference to “militia purposes”, he may also be tying hunting in here. So first, No the 2nd Amendment isn’t about hunting. Second if you’re going to be talking about “Militia Purposes” that’s EXACTLY why people should be able to buy, as well as explosives, anti-tank weaponry, and full-auto crew-served weapons. Something tells me he wouldn’t like that logical view. Also interesting that the Brady Camp is allowing somebody to talk on their airwaves about civilians purchasing guns for militia purposes, that really goes against their whole “National Guard is the Militia” fallacy.

5-6: These two questions are a MESS, so I won’t fully transcribe them either. Also the last four questions seemed off-the-cuff and legit, these really sound like they’re trying to recite a prompted question.

Still the issues are: “Universal Background Checks” (good thing to ask about, Mitt and Obama should be able to answer this well, as Illinois and Massachusetts have that policy in place…and they’re dangerous states. Meanwhile Mitt’s been spending a lot of time in Utah which doesn’t, and its one of the safest states. And some garbled statement that talks about “Assault Weapons” and “Hunting guns” and ends with “Nobody Hunts with an AK-47”.

Again, 2nd Amendment says nothing about ducks and deer, sorry. Second, he should look at the dude holding the Microphone, he was shot with a .22 target and training pistol that fully complies with the US “Assault Weapon” legislation. Oh and people don’t hunt with AK-47s? Just to a quick youtube search and you’ll find how wrong you are. And that’s not even opening the can of worms that the AR-style rifle is one of the most popular hunting platforms in the country right now.

Again, every questioner has NO earthly idea what they’re talking about, and like most “Progressives”, they aren’t interested in learning, or defending their point.

I want to know what the Presidential Candidates will do to curb the deaths from pop-rocks! Will either of the Presidential candidates make any move to put the rare and endangered Skunk Ape on the endangered species list?

Yeah that’s what these fools look like.

Good luck guys!

“Gun Death” No Charges

This is sad one:

A five-month-old boy died in the scorching heat of a minivan after his mother forgot to drop him off at a daycare center….Mrs Gray was taken to a local hospital for treatment. A police spokeswoman described Mrs Gray and her husband as ‘extremely distraught’. She has not been charged but the investigation continues.

Now the other day the wife gave me some packages to be mailed. I had a bunch of other sundry errands to run, so I popped them in the back seat of the car and started getting my errands done. I was gone for over two hours and made about 5 different stops…and I forgot about the packages in the back seat and had to mail them the next day.

That’s just typical absent mindedness, of course if it was a young kid I’d either drop him off first, or bring him with me for my errands, and a baby and a package aren’t exactly the same thing!

The fact that no charges have been filed leads me to add the “Bad Justice” tag.

But maybe I’m overreacting, I mean nobody was shot, right? Only “Gun Deaths” count, right?

Compare and Contrast

We need to question WHY this is being done:

YouTube on Wednesday announced it was restricting access to a controversial video that has been blamed for inciting violence in Libya and protests in Egypt.

The video, a film trailer mocking the Muslim faith, will not be accessible via YouTube in Libya and Egypt, the company said in a statement issued to CNN.

“We work hard to create a community everyone can enjoy and which also enables people to express different opinions,” YouTube said by e-mail. “This can be a challenge because what’s OK in one country can be offensive elsewhere.

I’ve only seen a few clips of the movie, and frankly I was bored to tears watching it, so I won’t bother watching any more.

Still I got thinking about all the shit that is tossed around and is offensive:

Bowling for Columbine
, a film that directly defamed and insulted lawful gun owners, and lawful retailers of guns. How many people were killed in retaliation?

The Book of Mormon Were there LDS riots and deaths?

The Last Temptation of Christ has been around for a LONG time, both in book and film form…we’re still waiting for the violence.

There was this little high-tech prank on the French….ok maybe there’s no violence because its true! (I kid!)

Really all this horrible violence in the Muslim Theocracies and nations of the “Arab Spring” really sounds a lot like wife with the black eye noting that she probably shouldn’t have questioned her husband’s drinking habits.

Sorry guys, I think the problem is you, not the person who “dared offend you”.

h/t Mrs. Weer’d

**UPDATE** From this lefty publication I pull this quote about the film:

Klein claims credit for inspiring “Sam Bacile” to produce “The Innocence of Muslims,” promising him he would be “the next Theo Van Gogh,” referring to the Dutch columnist who was murdered by a Muslim extremist. Of the attacks in Libya, Klein said, “We went into this knowing this was probably going to happen.”

Since I’m directly involved in the gun-rights movement, I would point out many of the anti-rights antagonism against gun owners also has a desire to incite an attack. They constantly use the spurious term “Lawful gun owner” when somebody does something criminal, in attempt to label us as monsters. But the truth is we are not monsters and we are NOT violent. So insult us and we will take offense, but if you’re expecting retaliatory violence, you’ll be waiting for a good long while.

The beasts attacking the embassy and committing other acts of war and wanton violence ARE monsters. Note the difference.

“Progressive Religion”

I’m really impressed by the irony of this piece:

It finally seems to be dawning on many Americans that there’s something to this climate change thing. The historic drought has been hard to ignore. While belief in a long-term trend because it’s hot out right now is a bit ridiculous, it’s a start.

You can see a shift in how the media covers weather. The statement “because of climate change…” is often stated clearly without caveats such as, “what some scientists think may be a warming planet.” You see it in the UN calling for action to help the hungry cope with rising food prices “in an age of increasing population, demand and climate change.”

And you see it in the growing number of mega-corporations — including America’s Alcoa, Coca-Cola, Cisco, HP, J&J, Nike, and P&G — signing on to the “2 Degree Challenge Communiqué,” a call for the world’s governments to take strong action to slow greenhouse gas emissions.

Climate change is basically accepted as fact the world over. But you wouldn’t know it watching our political conventions (or at least one of them). So while the world seems to be waking up to a fundamental, existential threat to our species (and not to “the planet,” which will be fine with or without us), the US policy debate remains mostly deaf, dumb, and blind.

Catch that? “Climate change is basically accepted as fact the world over” without presenting of facts. There’s the whole “Its hot outside, so its Global Warming!”, but of course the converse of “Damn its cold, global warming must not be real!” is not allowed!

Also he talks a lot about “innovation”, “Technology” and “Green Jobs” without ever giving concrete evidence to any of them. Just “Coal power is bad, so shut it down!”, but never an address of how we’re going to keep our lights on after the plant is shut down.

Climate Change is the all-powerful “Progressive” deity. Everything is proof of its existence, and nothing can ever disprove it. Is it hot out? CLIMATE CHANGE! is it Cold out? CLIMATE CHANGE! Floods? CLIMATE CHANGE! Drought? CLIMATE CHANGE? Hell if the global temperatures just sat at the same temperature from the same day in 1968, it would be CLIMATE CHANGE stalling the natural fluctuations in weather.

And the elephant in the room can NEVER be acknowledged…that they made it all up! If the science is settled, why did the scientists make up their data? Oh yeah, “Fake But Accurate!”
