A Look at Laws

First a turd.

The Republican-controlled Arizona House of Representatives has voted to repeal the state’s gun-free school zone laws, setting up a potential battle that only Gov. Jan Brewer (R) may be able to stop.

The House on Tuesday night passed a bill to end the prohibition of guns within 1,000 feet of schools. The measure would allow anyone licensed to carry a concealed weapon to have a gun within the buffer.

Garbage! First the 1,000 ft “Buffer zone” is bullshit. First there are no magical lines. Its easy to see a school building, and if you walk into one its understandable that you know what you’re walking into. (Not that somebody who’s sane and lawful on the sidewalk will become Death Incarnate as soon as they step into school grounds!) But where is the 1,000 ft line? That’s almost 1/4 mile, that’s not a short distance. Even the furthest parking spot at the Mall isn’t 1,000 Ft from the nearest entrance. Think of that distance and note that there will be houses and buildings between you and the school. Certainly if you want to park for a school function you can’t park in any of the School parking lots.

Also I’m curious if you live near a school. Can you suddenly not carry? Do you need to disarm to back out of your driveway?

Pure bullshit.

And of course there’s the logistics. Rather than bring a gun in a holster onto school grounds the Nannies think its safer to lock your gun in a glass box. Also they think its safer to force somebody to handle a loaded gun inside the cramped confines of a car?

No anti-rights person even knows what that entails, let alone THINK about it. They just know its shittier for lawful gun owners and that makes them happy.

Still it isn’t all bad!

States that have been or are considering bills in current legislative sessions include Colorado, Iowa, Georgia, Kentucky, Maine, New Hampshire, Ohio, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota and Virgina, according to the NRA.

South Dakota could be the fifth state to join the ranks of permit-less carry states. Lawmakers last week passed a measure allowing anyone 18 and older with a valid state driver’s license to carry a concealed weapon, as long as they don’t have a background that would otherwise prohibit them from getting a permit. The bill awaits action from Republican Gov. Dennis Daugaard.

I have my doubts about Maine, as their Carry laws are reasonable in practice, but there is a LOT of vestigial anti-gun writing in the law that might come to light in a Constitutional carry discussion. But New Hampshire I see NO reason why it clings to its permits. Open carry is 100% legal without permits, no special training is required, the waiting period is inside of a week, even the card is a cheap peice of crap that doesn’t even have a photo, and residents fees are $10. At that point why even bother?

Further carry permits are just foolish. Jay mentioned in an article (that I can’t find…Jay, drop it in the comments, please), that S&W ships J-frame revolvers to Illinois. My PM45 is the only gun I regularly carry that I bought AFTER I was lawfully allowed to carry. Back in the 80s when so many states legally banned carry it wasn’t like Walther PPKs and little pocket .25s and .32s weren’t still in the gun shops.

If you can legally buy a gun, the only thing that is going to make you wait before you get your permit is respect for the law.

If the person has respect for the law what is there to fear? I mean if I don’t want to break the law by carrying into a post office, or an Elementary school, won’t have have as much respect (if not more!) for not robbing and murdering people?

Of course if anti-gun people were logical they’d be pro gun. Good luck to all of these states with their Constitutional carry fight, its been a wonderful law in Vermont, Alaska, Arizona, Wyoming, and most of Montana, it would be a shame for you other states not to enjoy it!

Morning Dorks

First as you know, all totalitarians dream of having the power to tell others what to do. If you look at totalitarian regimes when a small few get the power, most often that soon results in mass graves of political dissenters.

Now two of our favorite anti-right freaks are sharing their dreams to us. I think it sheds a lot of light, and I thank them for their candid nature. First from Ladd Everit of CSGV.

#IfIHadThePower I’d make every elected official who has ever voted w/ the #NRA experience the emotional pain felt by victims of gun violence

Now first let’s put a little equality to this statement. Essentially that’s like saying “People who Marched with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, should experience the pain of being murdered by the Duvalier Regime” Or “…Raped by a Harlem Street gang.” Yeah because a civil right is the same as a criminal act. Remember if you drink a beer, you’re the same as a drunk driver, or a degenerate drunk!

Also note that Ladd is wishing pain, suffering and death to people who support individual rights. I’ve stated before that the anti-rights cult is CONSUMED with hatred, this supports that well.

Now from Joan.

.#IfIHadThePower-we would have background checks on all gun sales; people would not carry guns everywhere; kids would be safe in schools

First we’ve talked through the background check fallacy, Joan had read this rebuttal, and likely dozens of other rebuttals like it. She knows its a fallacy, she says it anyway. She’s not a good, or a just person.

I’ll cover the next two side-by-side. I carry guns everywhere I can legally go. All people, including kids, are not only safe, but SAFER than around an unarmed me. I believe and will argue as long as need be before the liars retreat that outside places like an MRI lab where ANY metal is a danger, or a foundry or machine shop where hot machines might not only severely burn flesh, but cook off a live round in a chamber (you can see I’m stretching), where it is UNSAFE for me to carry my gun. A school, an airport, the Post Office, an airplane in flight.

We’ll also note that Joan is wringing her hands about a recent shooting in an Ohio school where guns are banned. In this school a child with a violent record stole a gun, and took it to a school despite policy and laws against this, and them murdered 3 students and assaulted several others with it.

You can see that Joan’s wish is pure fantasy, and not exactly related. She wants it to be so, and it just physically can’t be so. And you wonder why she’s so angry and intolerant.

Hey but she’s willing to take your rights away KNOWING it will solve nothing, including the bitter emptiness inside her black soul.

These are not good people.

“Gun Death” Home Invasion

One thing you’ll hear antis from “More civilized” countries is: “We don’t need guns for self defense, because our country has banned guns”. Yeah that’s on of the points of the “Gun Death?” Files.

BLUE EARTH, Minn. – Police say the masked man who killed a man and severely beat a woman and her two daughters after breaking into a Blue Earth Home on Monday was the mother’s husband, identified as 29-year-old Brian Daniel Freeman, of Ceylon.

If your attacker is unnamed that doesn’t stop them from murdering you, but if your smaller and weaker, and unarmed, there is NOTHING you can do to stop them. This is the anti-rights dream. When somebody says “Gun Death” they mean “Might makes Right”. I say carry your damn guns so when the brute attempts to take away your rights you can fight back from a superior advantage.

What’s wrong with that?

Evening Neat

Dunno if you’ve seen these, but this guy does cool stuff:

He makes 100% replica firearms from laminating paper together, and combining it with other household products (like he makes springs from spiral notebook wire)

here’s what a finished unit looks like:

Cool stuff!

Evening Double-Standard

Let’s face it, neither side is tolerant, they’re intolerant of the other team (which is identical to their team).

Still its fun to catch these dumb hacks in the act!

Thank God for Youtube!

Ninja Vs. Scientist

I’ve had this post brewing in my brain for a while. The title is a bit extreme, but I think it adequately describes my own internal conflict.

On one hand I succumb to the visceral numbers junkie nature of things. Bigger is better, more is more, Maximizing strength, minimizing weakness. You see the extreme version of this with the stereotype of the “Mall Ninja”, the proverbial fat loser with all sorts of crazy guns and gear, and often fetish for Molle gear and Kevlar.

The gag of course is that he’s all dressed up with nowhere to go.

Then there’s the scientist in me. The guy who looks at the numbers. Studies like this, or discussions about the caliber war, or grail guns.

Heck even the Ohio shooting you have a murder with a Ruger MkIII with 10 shots of what’s probably regular target ammo, and 3 people lost their life that day, and 6 people were shot. Now that was a horrible murder, and I don’t want to equate murdered students with criminals, but this does show that .22 pistols are NOT “Glorified BB Guns”.

Still that being said I would not carry a .32 or smaller for ANYTHING but a backup gun. I’m also not a huge fan of rounds smaller than 9×19 +P ammo for self-defense. I also don’t see much use for 5.56×45.

All of this are my personal preference, and no I won’t go down range with a catcher’s mitt and catch your .32 or .380 rounds, and I’m well aware of all the people killed by Police and Military world-wide using rifles in 5.56.

Its all my personal preference, but isn’t that worth something?

I carry a 1911 every day for a number of reasons. The dead-serious reason is that I’ve run more rounds through various 1911 platform guns than any other gun in existence. No matter what platform I pick up, none will feel as comfortable in my hand as a 1911, nor any do I have a better understanding of their inner workings. I could get this familiarity with another gun, but it would take training…for something I already have.

Another thing is that there really isn’t a slimmer gun than the 1911. Most 9mm single-stack guns are thicker, and this slim profile makes the gun carry better. Also the industry has fully adopted the M1911. I can buy magazines and holsters at any gun shop, and parts are easy to find, and if, say I break a slide-stop, I’ll have literally dozens to choose for.

When Dennis from Dragon Letherworks put up his holster-making shingle his first holsters were for M1911 pistols because so many people HAVE them.

Those are hard facts to squawk at, but more silly is the fact that my carry gun is a .45. Not just that but 230gr Bonded +P ammo with the word TACTICAL on the box. (I just prefer bonded hollow points, heavy bullets, and +p is +better!)

A 9×19 gun would offer less recoil, more magazine capacity, for what is essentially the same stopping power.

But I say “essentially”, because they aren’t equal. Frankly I feel BETTER shooting a .45. Can you fault me?

Also my backup/light carry gun was a S&W J-Frame. That gun still has its advantages, overall 5-shots with a complicated reload didn’t make me comfortable. I upgraded to my PM45. This COULD be consider a wiz-bang gun, or a Hipster gun, as its a bit pricy for what it is, fairly uncommon, and its one of the smallest lightest .45s on the market.

Still I needed a pocket gun that was slim, light, and better than a J-frame, and since my primary carry gun is a .45, it would actually cost MORE to get a 9×19 gun as I don’t have a gun in 9×19. Also not only is the PM45 the smallest and lightest .45 out there, and it holds 5+1 to the J-frame’s 5, and you can reload with magazines holding up to 7 rounds, and the trigger pull, bore axis, grip size are all superior to anything similar.

Rifles I’m worse. I love rifles in 7.62x51mm/.308 Win. I just see it at a perfect balance to power and recoil, as well as readily available ammo. I don’t much care for 5.56×45. I know it’s cheap, light, and has very low recoil. But really every time I think about why I’d get a rifle in 5.56, I just say “Why not get one on .22 or something bigger?”

Is it right? No, but it isn’t wrong either. Its the battle between the Scientist who says a well-placed .22 will kill a man dead, and how many people have been put in the dirt by a 5.56 carbine, and that 9×19 is really superior to .45 ACP in every damn way…

But I’m still carrying a pair of .45s, and my go-to rifle is still an FAL…

It makes ME feel better, and isn’t that worth it?

Kill Them!

I’ve talked about this before, but I’ll talk about it more. First go read these posts by Jay, and Bob.

Both cases are people who were robbed, complied with the robber, and were murdered.

Remember this: If Criminals were Honest and respectable people they’d have honest or respectable jobs. You cannot enter a social contract with them no matter how much of a starry eyed idealist.

If somebody says “Give Me your wallet, or I will kill you” they are JUST as capable of killing you AFTER they get your wallet as before. Same goes for any other robbery situation, and any property that is yours, your employer’s or an associate’s.

Their treat should simply be read as “I am going to kill you!” with no stipulations attached, as any stipulations are irrelevant.

My wife took a self-defense seminar, and she was very pleased with it, and we got to talking about it. Overall it was a good course, the instructor was pro-gun and started the class asking if anybody had experience with defensive shooting, noting it was a “Good idea”, then moved on to their specialty. There was a LOT of good information and techniques taught. That being said there was one (and only one) bad thing said. That was the “Your wallet isn’t worth your life!”

I called bullshit and repeated the above statement. My wife asked what I would do if I was robbed. My response:

“I will kill them.”

“But what if You don’t have your gun?” she responded.

“Then I’ll have a harder time killing them”.

This isn’t a gun issue, this is a life-and-death issue. Just when you note that a robber is simply a murderer looking for compliance BEFORE they kill you, then the validity of carrying a gun becomes VERY obvious.

Be safe out there, and carry your gun. Don’t comply with criminals as it may be the last thing you’ll ever do.

Good on Her!

While Listening to a back-episode of Penn’s Sunday School I head about this incident.

Good on her for fucking with the TSA. They are violating our rights for a massive expense, and ZERO safety.

Video here is SLIGHTLY NSFW

They should be ashamed, and their agency should be disbanded YESTERDAY!

Also I’ll add that my dress laying when I fly (or any other day) is similar to hers. T-shirt with a sweatshirt or flannel shirt over that, and Jeans and underwear. I haven’t stripped down to my underwear for the perverts, but they DO make me run my top cover through the X-ray. Odd that they made an exception for her….

Its not about security, its about people with no marketable skills to have a union job where their incompetence is above question, and they get to steal from people, as well as sexually assault them.

Also I’m glad she pointed out the Cancer concerns. For those of you sheep who gladly walk through the back-scatter perv-scanners, ask to see the OSHA safety card required for all radiation sources. They don’t have one. That’s illegal where I work.

Not knowing your dosage ask to wear a Radiation safety badge. Ask them to provide one for you, if you don’t have your own. Not only will they not have a badge for you to wear as you are being exposed, but they will confiscate any badges you bring.

This is illegal where I work.

TSA is a criminal organization that provides nothing and costs much. DISBAND THEM!

BTW don’t you like the part where they make her put her jacket back on, despite that being against policy?

All Theater!

Thought for the Day

So Mike at ENDO has a post up about “Operators”

✔Noise cancelling hearing protection
✔Oakley sunglasses
✔Scruffy Beard
✔Polo shirt with random operator companies you’ve probably never heard of
✔Thermal long sleeve under the polo shirt
✔Paracord bracelet
✔Weapon light during daylight ops

Just heading out the door for work (blogging because I don’t wanna go!!!)

Lets See, Beard…check!

T-Shirt from ENDO Apparel, Does that Count?

LL Bean Jeans, LL Bean Chamois shirt, LL Bean Boots. Am I a Maine Operator?

CONTROL I HAVE EYES ON THE SWAMP DONKEY! I AM ADVANCING MY SKIDDER!!!

Maybe we could make a Movie about it! I got a Plot idea, even! Valdimir Putin after his re-election again invades Georgia, but good, and Starts Rebuilding the Soviet Union! Having captured Tom Clancy he discovers that the Advanced Typhoon Sub Red October is hidden in the Penobscot River in Maine. He scrambles Spetsnaz operators to capture the sub, and if still armed launch Missiles on New York, and DC.

Entirely unaware Maine has a secret weapon guarding the precious sub and its nuclear payload, and his name is Bucky Beal, and his crack team of Maine Operators. Not only are they tougher and more crafty than other Special teams, they’re also, cantankerous, flinty, and cheap!

Hilarity ensues as the Spetsnaz meet there doom, as Red October is taken out on the ‘Nobscot because the Stripers are runnin’!

Fekin’ Right dude!
