Rick Santorum Wins….Iowa?

A little bit of hilarious minutia

Pennsylvania senator Rick Santorum received 34 votes more than former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney in this month’s Iowa caucuses, the Des Moines Register reported Thursday.

Now its hilarious minutia because #1: Caucuses are bizzare bullshit that have almost nothing in common to elections, and #2. Because generally the GOP voters aren’t very keen on the current lineup. There are people who don’t like Romney, but somehow think he’d be better than Barack Obama (those people are wrong, BTW), and people who think Romney is a lousy candidate and want somebody else.

The only problem is who they want is “Somebody Else”, not a particular candidate, so Santorum’s little popularity bump is just an artifact of people vetting him…and then rejecting him because he’s a homophobe authoritarian nutjob.

Still its amusing to see such a little swing because it draws attention to what a lousy candidate Romney is, and it shows what a sad Jokes a Caucus is.

So there’s your bizarre political news for the day.

“Gun Death” Chicken Curse

In the words of the great Joad Cressbeckler: “Some Chinaman got the Chicken Curse!

A man who had been diagnosed with China’s first case of bird flu in more than a year has died in the southern city of Shenzhen, health officials say.

The 39-year-old bus driver was admitted to hospital with pneumonia but tested positive for the bird flu virus.

The H5N1 bird flu strain has a high level of mortality, killing up to 60% of humans infected with it.

Bird flu isn’t “Gun Death” so it doesn’t count. Let’s hear some more from Joad:

Neat!

I’m wayyy behind on my SHOT show news, but I just saw this.

I saw a post somewhere talking about the Springfield XDs. I was curious what it was, and assumed it was some variant like the XDm which honestly I couldn’t tell you how the “m”s differ from the standard XD. I guess the “S” is for “Slim” as its a single-stack.

I talked a lot about how kickass 9x19mm is as a defensive round here, and how the difference isn’t really relevant between 9×19 and .45 ACP of .40 S&W, and since the 9×19 kicks the least, and being the physically smallest of the popular cartridges, you can shoot it faster, better, and hold more in your gun…or make your gun smaller.

Of course I said I won’t be switching to 9mm anytime soon as all the super-cool 9×19 guns are generally double-stack with magazines are difficult or impossible to get here in Massachusetts, and the super-cool single-stack 9mm guns don’t hold THAT many more than my 8+1 1911…and I already HAVE the 1911.

Still I further doubled-back and noted that my carry piece is a S&W1911Sc commander that I added slim grips to to facilitate carry (The standard grips printed more and dug into my ribs), and now I have a gun that’s 1.01″ across the wing of the safety, and everywhere else the gun is 0.91″. That’s scary skinny, but still big enough for my meaty hands to hold onto, and that helps the gun disappear under my clothes.

That was a long and rambling way to say that skinny guns are comfortable and easy to carry. They don’t hold as much, but I’ll also add that their magazines are also really skinny and easy to carry as well.

So I’m glad to see the market fitting a need. Also this is a nice gun to get for those of us who are poor bastards that live behind enemy lines.

New Shirt Shipped FAST!

I said here I was going to get a new shirt from the very kickass ENDO Mike

It shipped SCARY fast, and here it is.

Love the color, love the nature of the image. I had to explain to the wife that this was the stamp required by federal law to be placed on any “post ban” magazines holding more than 10 rounds. (there’s an image here…BTW Wally and I were talking the other day about how ban-compliant Glock magazines are shimmed to make them a lop-sided single-stack! How fucked-up is that? I know some companies would just put a crimp in the mag body just below where the follower sits on round #10…I know Canadian M-14 mags there’s a protrusion on the follower that bottoms out on the floorplate when the 10th round is seated.)

I got all sorts of “Preachy” shirts like my Gunwalker shirt that I haven’t gotten a chance to wear yet, but will soon, but its nice to have shirts like EDNO makes just so you can send your gunnie political message without scaring the sheep. Also wearing a shirt like this, if you get a smile and a nod, you might notice that person has a bulge at their 4:00 position.

We’re everywhere, and they have no idea..

Mike also sent me an email about a new shirt coming out soon, so stay tuned, his only hint on the design was that “I think you’ll really like it”…that’s a pretty small gamble, Mike. 🙂

So again like the M16 selector shirt this thing is CRAZY soft, and after over a dozen washes it still looks brand new. Also I never remember what size X shirt is, I generally wear L to XL, but with size variations some Large shirts run a bit small on me, and some XL shirts are like tents. This one is the Large and fits PERFECTLY.

Did I mention they’re super soft? Order one today, your nipples will thank you! 🙂

He Wasn’t “Professional Enough”

We all saw the video, he’s officially on his ass.

federal agent who accidentally shot himself while lecturing children on gun safety lost his appeal Tuesday in a lawsuit over release of the video that subjected him to ridicule on the Internet and late-night talk shows.

Lee Paige sued his employer, the Drug Enforcement Administration, after video of the 2004 accident in Florida appeared in the news and went viral on the Internet. The video shows Paige shooting himself in the leg just as he displays his firearm and tells a gathering of about 50 youth and their parents, “I’m the only one in this room professional enough, that I know of, to carry this Glock 40.”

Paige claimed in his lawsuit that the DEA’s release of the video, taken by a parent attending the demonstration, invaded his privacy and ended his ability to work undercover or give motivational speeches. Paige, a former professional football player who worked at the DEA since 1990, said the release has also resulted in humiliating comments toward him and his family not only on television but at grocery stores and restaurants.

You got ridiculed because you were talking about gun safety and bragging about what hot shit you were, and weren’t cautious enough to keep the gun you were waiving around unloaded, and then besides breaking Jeff Cooper’s Rule #1, broke #2, and #3…and looking at your video, I suspect 4 never crossed your mind.

FOLLOW THE RULES! All the time, no exception.

RULE I: ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

RULE II: NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT WILLING TO DESTROY

RULE III: KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

RULE IV: BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET

ALL the time, weather you’re on the range, cleaning your guns, or on a DEA stakeout…and especially if you’re in a classroom filled with kids.

Don’t let the door hit you in the ass on your way out.

About that Blog

Dunno what happened but I really didn’t manage to get out of bed yesterday. Struck me as a mild fever but with ZERO physical energy. Odd given that most times when I’m sick in bed I’m feeling miserable or pouring something miserable into the toilet, with this I just didn’t feel like myself and couldn’t really stand to do anything.

I feel a good bit better today so hopefully the blog will be up and running again.

Tho It might be a busy day in the office as I called in sick yesterday.

Thanks for still stopping by those who did!

“Gun Death” Stabbing

Simple Story:

Oakdale police have arrested a 44-year-old St. Paul man in connection with the fatal stabbing of an Oakdale woman, who was found dead after her employer called authorities when she didn’t report to work.

Authorities identified the victim as 39-year-old Lori Baker, and said she died of numerous stab wounds.

No guns, no “Gun Death”, the antis will note that these are “Not THEIR Victims“, so no candles for them!

“Gun Death” Stolen TV

A Brutal One

A woman accused of beating her 86-year-old grandmother to death and stealing her TV to sell it for drug money was indicted on Thursday on aggravated murder and other charges in southwest Ohio.

Drugs are illegal, murder is illegal, theft is illegal, and the murder weapon has yet to be disclosed, but was likely an object found around the house.

It is NOT the tool, its the person.

Call To Arms

Looks like some action is being taken about the Marine arrested for carrying a gun in NYC.

A third-generation Marine arrested in New York City after trying to check his Indiana-registered handgun with security made an “honest mistake” and should not face prison time, his attorney said Monday…Boston lawyer and veteran Marine Dave Bruce has organized an online petition through the website leatherneck.com that plans to send its first 14 e-mails to Cyrus, New York City Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly and Mayor Michael Bloomberg, the New York Post reported.

“The theme is not to have Mr. Jerome treated like a common thug,” Bruce told the newspaper. “He deserves to be treated better.”

A Facebook page, called “Free Ryan Jerome,” has also been created in the hopes that Jerome — a TOW gunner before his honorable discharge in 2005 — will be cleared of the charges.

So go and make some noise, and urge your Senators to support HR 822 which would have made this simple act that was safe and harmed nobody perfectly legal!
