Quote of the Day

From Tam

Don M: “I will still “vote for the syphilitic camel, over Obama”.”

Tam: “Keep ordering syphilitic camel, and they’ll just stop putting anything else on the menu, as a quick look at the current GOP field will tellingly point out.”

We can look at this from the other direction too. In 2004 the world HATED themselves some George W. Bush, but the Donks shunted crazy Dr. Howard Dean (BTW I have a conservative friend from Vermont who had a prostate exam from Dr. Dean. He’s got a BUNCH of great jokes that use that materiel…the lefties in the family aren’t huge fans) and Brought Blue-Blood Semi-Retarded John Forbes Kerry to the election.

The vote went for the Hated Bush, and four years later Barack Obama became our President. Say what you will about President Zero, his campaign persona was exactly what the left had been wanting for AGES…they seem a little miffed that not only does he mirror their ideology, but their Work Ethic as well is really more sad irony than anything else.

If the GOP wants to serve me another Bob Dole, George Bush (take your pick of which), John McCain, GOP, I think maybe we need another four of Barry-O to think about things.

Sebastian seems to be beating a drum about the Supreme court but Richard beats me to my sentiment:

Do you have some sort of magic decoder ring that tells you that Romney will nominate 2nd A friendly judges. Certainly his history doesn’t indicate this. And some of the worst judges on 2A issues have been nominated by Republican presidents. Warren, Burger, Stevens, Souter. Obama is a problem but the problem is the lack of a real conservative party. Romney’s nomination will just lock this problem into stone.

“Maybe a Conservative Justice” doesn’t seem like a just reward for electing the monster that is Romney, nor the Old Guard Authoritarian Gingrich.

Also even if Sebastian is right do we mean “Conservative” as in “Originalist” or do we mean “Daddy State”?

Yeah, thanks, but no-thanks.

Morning LOL

Found here

The Kill the Jews camps have hurt the average people living and working in the city, while doing little to nothing to the “Rich 1%”, and when a wealthy celebrity comes down to the camps to express “Solidarity” they glad hand them, while the harass the parents trying to send their kids to public school.

(found here)

These people are both lost, and VERY stupid.

“Gun Death” Factors

Factors…count them.

Steven Bates was in jail serving a sentence for robbery when his mother died from a drug overdose in March last year, a District Court judge heard yesterday.

An approach was made so authorities would release Bates to attend the funeral of his mother, Louise, but it was rejected.

When Bates was released from jail, he made an approach at a birthday party to a man suspected of supplying drugs to his mother and said: “Have you got something to say to me, bro?”

The man said he had nothing to say and several hours later Bates, 21, inflicted a knife wound to his neck.

So we have a robber son who’s doing time in jail. We have a Mom who dies of an overdose. We have a system that thinks there are reasons to let people out of prison. We have a drug dealer attending a party.

We also have a country (Australia) that heavily restricts firearms and blades.

And we have a dead drug dealer from knife wounds.

Could they have expected anything different?

Of course Australia has a very low “Gun Death” rate. Doesn’t that make it sound nicer?

Red Pill, Blue Pill

The Matrix was an extremely popular film, and I suspect just about all of us have seen it, and I would be surprised if any of us didn’t love it.

Now as a film buff I always think of Dark City, and The 13th Floor as similar films that were released at a similar time with a very similar overall plot point: The Existential world pulled over our eyes to conceal a hidden truth from us. I personally think that those other two films present the subject in a more artistically interesting, while Matrix is more of a standard Hollywood action film. Of course the action and the special effects have a better appeal, but I think there is one other thing that makes The Matrix stand out to the audience. How the truth is presented to the protagonist.

Its served straight-up. Take the red pill and you agree to see the truth, but the blue pill is the status quo and acceptance that the lie exists, but you choose ignorance.

This is later revisited with the mole Cypher who is regretting his decision.

This presentation has universal appeal. First it offers some great fantasy escapism, as Neo is nobody special, and The Matrix is such a good copy of our world that indeed you could be living the lie right now, and we can all see ourselves as Neo sitting at his soulless corporate job.

And while Cypher presents a very good argument about wanting to be ignorant of the grim future, how many of us really wish for ignorance? Do you really wish Santa Clause was real? That a loved one never told you they were terminally ill? That they made two other Matrix movies?

Sure we wish for a nicer reality, but we NEVER wish for ignorance.

And of course the tale of a hero discovering they were living a lie is a VERY common theme in literature as well as film.

While I imagine discoveries of lies of theatrical proportions are VERY rare, its not uncommon for somebody to uncover a massive lie. For me it was gun control, which I supported and thought was a great idea…until I started looking into the issue objectively.

The inspiration of this post is this speech by Dennis Henigan, when I first started watching it I was thinking about fisking the speech. Only it didn’t take me long to realize that besides his name and his job title everything he was saying was a lie.

Well straight-up blatant lies, Half-truths, and smatterings of “studies” his group conducted for the expressed purpose of having a “Study” that stated gun control worked.

Linoge also covered a similar subject about how Mayors Against Illegal Guns often misrepresents their membership numbers.

The real human nature is no different than the fictional reaction in books and film to discovery of a big lie. Rebellion!

I began supporting gun rights, as well as confronting my former allies. The more I fight the less I doubt that my change was a good idea.

Linoge points out that because of the internet both sides are readily available to anybody interested. Back in the 90s the anti-gun talking points were being sent into my home on every news station. I couldn’t tell you how I could find a pro-gun publication. Certainly it would take a very strong level of determination.

These days I encounter VERY few people who are like myself. Good-natured, but ignorant on the issue. Most of them are the true believers, and those who are paid to agree with the anti-gun position.

That isn’t very surprising.

I don’t get paid for what I do, but I’m glad to be on the correct side of the issue.

Guns are Tools

Jack just pointed out this page on industrial shotguns.

Now that’s pretty cool. Obviously defensive, military, sport, and food-harvesting applications are where guns shine.

Can’t find any Navy or Coastguard training videos, but I know they still throw lines with guns, essentially using a Monkey’s Fist as a modified rifle grenade.

Guns are tools, some less mature people may not LIKE the jobs they’re good for, but that doesn’t make them any less tools.

“They’ll Just Take It Away”

Bubblehead Les sends me this story of a home invasion.

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Four men forced their way into a West Side home Thursday night where they beat and threatened a young couple before stealing $250…The intruder pulled a gun and demanded to hear from Reyes where money was.

Reyes managed to wrest the gun out of the man’s hand, but the intruder soon got it back and pointed the gun at Reyes’ chest and pulled the trigger. The gun jammed. The robbers then beat Reyes into unconsciousness and stole $250 from his wallet.

Good on Mr. Reyes for fighting back, it likely saved his life. But the gun you should have is YOUR gun not the gun the intruders brought with them.

Also when people say “The money in your wallet isn’t worth your life” they rarely think about the thugs who are more than willing to kill you for your money.

Kill them over your life, and to show them that violent crime is NOT tolerated in American society, but self defense is!

Be Safe out there, and carry your damn guns!

“Gun Death” Paradise

California where you can’t carry a gun without a permit that many counties refuse to issue. You can’t own an “Assault Weapon”, and the law adheres to a definition more strict than even the federal law. Handguns must be approved as “Safe” by a series of arbitrary tests that have little to do with safety. The list goes on. This of course is to prevent “Gun Death”.

A 96-year-old man was in police custody Sunday on suspicion of fatally bludgeoning his wife — but he may not even be aware of her death, due to his dementia, KTLA-TV reported.

Officers were called Saturday to the Los Angeles home Milton Weiss shared with wife Ann on a report of a suspicious death, and found the 81-year-old woman dead from an apparent head injury.

As you can tell the laws work VERY well, and “Gun Death” is a very valid metric on how prosperous society is.

Cool Gunnie Video

This video is cool!

When it comes to single-shot breech-loaders I’m a huge fan of the Falling Block action, especially that of the Sharps rifle or the Ruger No. 1.

That being said I’m floored at the simplicity of this action. Doesn’t look very strong at all, but man what a solid idea that is!

More videos and story here

From the videos the Kill The Jews Protestors were blocking a university walkway. The cops let them know that they needed to clear the path or get hosed with bear spray. After some good saber rattling by the cops to let them know they weren’t fucking around, the juice was loose.

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

Gotta love all the people who don’t seem to understand the constitution, nor use of force. Its OC, it burns like fire, but you’ll be fine in a few hours. Also your right to “Peacefully” protest (I consider all the Kill the Jews protests to be nothing short of an Angry Mob from their consistent actions and hateful tenants) are equal to the rights of others to go to class and traverse public property unmolested.

Gotta love the attention whores making this sound like they were doused with napalm. This is the face of the “Progressive” Movement, AKA the party of perpetual children.

If you’re gonna be dumb, you’d better be tough!

Newspeak

In George Orwell’s classic work Nineteen Eighty-Four the totalitarian government is developing a language called “Newspeak” rather than a language that makes communication easier, it makes it more difficult by REMOVING words from the lexicon. The idea being that if you control the language you can control the thoughts of the people using the language.

Now what’s really interesting is when “Progressives” speak words mean what they say they mean, and any reference to an actual lexicon is irrelevant. Take this article about the Occupy DC lunatic who fired shots at the White House.

Hernandez used a cheap but powerful Chinese- made assault rifle when he fired shots at the White House. His SKS rifle carried rounds high-powered enough to crack a bullet resistant window, even after traveling one-third of a mile from Constitution Avenue.

Ahh the SKS Rifle I have one, its hardly the best rifle on the planet, but they’re functional, and fun to shoot.

But calling an SKS an “Assault Rifle”? Well let’s look at the term.

An assault rifle is a selective fire (selectable between semi-auto and fully automatic) rifle (capable of being fired from the shoulder) that uses an intermediate cartridge and a detachable magazine.

Ok first up, let’s further clarify that the SKS, unlike the various guns popular in civilian gun safes is not a variant of a military rifle…these are honest-to-goodness military rifles, and the condition my SKS is in is identical to how any soldier who was issued one was in.

An SKS is indeed in an intermediate cartridge the 7.62x39mm cartridge was actually designed for the SKS rifle, and was considerably less powerful than the 7.62x54R cartridge used in the Mosin Nagant rifles that the SKS, and later the AK-47 replaced. So intermediate cartridge, but the SKS is semi-auto only, and it runs off of a fixed 10-round box magazine. Nope not an “Assault Rifle”. Well we all know the term “Assault Weapon” was deliberately coined to confuse people with the term “Assault Rifle”.

“Assault weapons’ menacing looks, coupled with the public’s confusion over fully-automatic machine guns versus semi-automatic assault weapons –anything that looks like a machine gun is assumed to be a machine gun– can only increase the chance of public support for restrictions on these weapons.”

Josh Sugarmann executive director and founder of the Violence Policy Center

The term was designed to be so confusing that most anti-rights activists interchange the terms freely. Let’s see what those things are:

Very generally speaking, a semi-automatic firearm is defined by these laws as an assault weapon if it has both a detachable magazine and a pistol grip, sometimes in conjunction with other features such as a folding stock or a muzzle break. Assault weapons are often similar in appearance to military firearms, but are capable of firing only once each time the trigger is pulled.

The SKS in its stock military configuration does have a bayonet lug (and integral bayonet), but no extended pistol grip, muzzle device, or folding stock. Still, the gun does not accept a detachable magazine, so again, not even an “Assault Weapon”. The term for the SKS is “A Rifle”. And not a terribly powerful one at that.

Furthermore news reports are now saying he fired NINE shots at the White House.

NINE! As in One-less-than-Ten! Note that 10 is the magical count the anti-rights people are claiming no gun should hold more of. Careful guys we might notice that a 30 round magazine shot down range is no big deal, but a single shot fired at the White House is quite relevant. Almost like its the people USING the guns that’s important not the guns used! (novel Concept)

So again, more of the anti-rights forces attempting to demonize firearms rather than look at the real issue (note they also don’t seem to discuss much about the various Occupy groups rioting, raping, murdering, and the overall tone of Antisemitism held by the group that this gentleman belonged to) which is violent people.

Oh BTW, if you’re at all interested in SKS rifles, the prices on them spiked when President Obama was elected, but they’ve appeared to have plateaued at a VERY reasonable point, you can buy the Yugo variant here, they’re neat rifles as they have a grenade adapter on the muzzle, and night sights. They aren’t making any more of them so these prices will only go up!

Pick one up and have some fun at the range! It’ll really piss the bad people of the world off!
