OK This is Cool

If you have a vintage M1911 or M1911A1 pistol, why not have ammo to match?

Midway is selling vintage WWII .45 ACP ammo, and vintage ammo crates! Cool stuff!

The Basics

This happens from time-to-time Jay and I went shooting last weekend, Jay shot like a boss I shot like a total zero. Happens to us all, we all have rotten days, and sometimes our skills just evaporate.

So today I headed down to the range with nothing thrilling in my range bag. I had a brick of .22 and my S&W 617 .22 revolver.

I was planning to hit the outdoor pistol range and shoot at 15 and 50 feet. Turns out there was a pistol class going on (I wish I had stuck my head into the classroom to see the demographics and numbers) so I went to the .22 only gallery range that is 50 feet only. Double-action only.

My shooting was all about trigger pull and sight alignment. Not the most exciting day at the range, but my groupings showed the work.

I’ll need to repeat this a few more times just to firm up.

“Gun Death” More Horrible

Again, ye been warned

An Ohio mother was charged Thursday with involuntary manslaughter in the death of her 14-year-old daughter, who had cerebral palsy and weighed 28 pounds. Three others also were charged, including the teen’s former nurse….Makayla Norman died March 1 from nutritional and medical neglect complicated by her chronic condition, the Montgomery County coroner’s office ruled.

“She was the worst malnourished child this office has ever seen,” Ken Betz, director of the coroner’s office, said Thursday.

Authorities have said that the teen died minutes after paramedics rushed her to a hospital.

Of course this wasn’t much of a crime. It couldn’t have been, No gun was used!

How can anybody use the term “Gun Death” as a serious metric without feeling full of shame?

I Love Stuff Like This

Penny Arcade has produced a collage of a decade’s worth of character evolution.

This happens to ANYTHING done on a long enough timeline.

BTW I noticed a very similar effect watching the first episode of a long-running show I was familiar with.

Just over time small changes are made…after decades small changes start looking like continental drift!

Nyahh Nyahhh I CAN’T HEAR YOU!!!

And other anti-rights arguments. Twitter comments can be found here, here, and Here

**UPDATE** Sean
points out that the “Chuck Cravaack” is obviously a fake account. I missed the detail because I’m not from Minnesota. Joan missed the detail because she’s obviously stupid. Makes it even better IMHO -ed

Joan Peterson: “House passes H.R. 822. Shame on them. My own Rep. Chip Cravaack voted yes to allowing people who get permits in other states to carry in MN.”

Chip Cravaack:” @commongunsense You can kill with a bat or a car but no one is trying to ban you from driving to the ball game.”

Joan Peterson: “@ChuckCravaack Specious argument”

Or a great argument…but if you call it Specious maybe SOMEBODY really dumb will belive you.

Mr. Cravaack also links this page with this quote:

GUNS DON’T MAKE YOU A KILLER – Killing makes you a killer. You can kill someone with a bat or a car, but no one is trying to ban you from driving to the ball game. politics

Well played!

The Bad Old Days

Wow, Tam unearths a relic of the Golden Age of Gun Control.

The Bush Administration today banned imports of semiautomatic assault rifles indefinitely, pending a review of whether the military-style weapons are being used for sporting purposes.

The step, announced by William J. Bennett, the director of national drug policy, is effective immediately and was taken after officials learned that requests this year from importers to bring in the weapons had already nearly tripled those for all of 1988.

“sporting purposes”! Because we know the 2nd Amendment was written about ducks and deer. I’m glad those days are over…tho sadly not over enough for somebody to reverse this shitty, and unconstitutional executive order.

Also Joe has a pile of quotes from the worst of the lot back in the day.

Thankfully we’re moving in the right direction, but we have a LOT of ground to cover.

The Occupy Savior Is Here!

Some will bow and scrape, others will deny him, but the Occupy Savior is here.

Oscar Ramiro Ortega-Hernandez, the 21-year-old man charged with attempting to assassinate President Barack Obama by firing shots at the White House, allegedly recorded a video pitch to send to Oprah Winfrey, in which he claims he is the “modern day Jesus Christ.”…The tape is reportedly 45 minutes long and recorded two months ago with the help of an Idaho University student, and also includes “rants” against the government, including accusations that it is waging war for oil.

Sounds like our Occupy Goons.

Last Friday, the sound of gunshots being fired were heard near the White House, and two vehicles were seen speeding away on Constitution Ave. near the White House. Soon after, an AK-47 was discovered inside of a vehicle at 23rd St. and Constitution Ave.

Sadly that sounds like them too.

BTW as if Kay wasn’t Ironic enugh, this post is REALLY funny now.
