Open Your Damn Ears!

So Miguel reads about an Anti on Facebook who is making up stories in attempt to shut down a shooting range. Sebastian breaches the discussion about anti-gun yuppies buying houses within earshot of gun ranges and clubs and getting butthurt about it.

First up I believe its law to disclose any such disturbances to all potential buyers. I know when I was looking at houses the agents told me all sorts of silly things about the various houses, I know I had to sign a paper with some of the known issues with my neighborhood written on it.

Still I talked to my potential neighbors and asked them about various issues, and any concerns.

Still there’s a well-known Massachusetts story where a gun range that had been active for over 100 years became the object of ire of a resident that had moved there a year before.

This person was so pissed that they could hear muffled gun-fire (honestly once you’re a few hundred yards away from a shooting range it gets pretty quiet pretty quick) that they (illegally because they did not have a Mass FID) bought a box of .22 rimfire ammo, and threw the bullet on his roof, then called the cops to say he’d heard rounds strike his house.

The police retrieved the “Evidence” and informed the home owner that A) The Firing line faced AWAY from his house, and for him to take fire somebody had to be shooting the opposite direction, and B) that the bullet they had retrieved were still crimped in their casings and were at that time still unfired.

Nothing will stand in the way of those who hate freedom!

Mainstream

So Jay has a picture up of his new T&E Ruger SR9c (Personally I see it as “neither fish nor fowl” as I can carry a much bigger gun that than in the same fashion, but I can’t pocket a gun that big…but if you’re smaller than me it might be just the ticket).

I was curious what the Magazine capacity was so I did a quick search and was surprised to find this.

I haven’t used overstock.com in years, and when I did I was buying computer parts, electronics, and home goods there. I’m quite impressed at the volume of gun parts and gear. They’re no Midway or Brownells…still if you’re buying OTHER stuff and want to toss in some gunnie gear, you’re paying the shipping anyway….

I may think about grabbing a Wilson Elite Tactical magazine just to see how it compares to the legendary 47D

Disgusting RINO

I just recived this letter from Senator Scott Brown:

Thank you for contacting me regarding the National Right-To-Carry Reciprocity Act (H.R. 822). I value your input and strive to keep you updated on the important issues facing us today.

On February 18, 2011, Representative Cliff Stearns introduced the National Right-To-Carry Reciprocity Act. This legislation would allow any person with a valid state-issued permit to carry a concealed firearm in any state that issues concealed firearm permits, or that does not prohibit the carrying of concealed firearms.

As you may know, I support the individual right to keep and bear arms as guaranteed by the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. I also believe that individual states should be allowed to decide what constitutes safe and responsible gun ownership so long as it does not violate that basic constitutional right.

Under the proposed House legislation, a national concealed carry reciprocity amendment would obligate states like Massachusetts to recognize the concealed carry permits of other states, even if the bearer of that permit does not meet the requirements established by Massachusetts to receive such a concealed carry permit. I believe that the people of Massachusetts are best positioned to decide what is best for Massachusetts. Therefore, if H.R. 822 or similar legislation comes before the Senate, I will vote no.

Again, thank you for sharing your views with me. Should you have any additional questions or comments, please feel free to contact me or visit my website at www.scottbrown.senate.gov.

Sincerely,
Scott P. Brown
United States Senator

My Response back (that I suspect will be heard on Deaf ears):

I’m sorry to hear that, espeshally from a man who has sworn to serve and protect, and uphold the US Constitution both as a US Senator, and as an Officer in the US Army National Guard.

The US Supreme Court has ruled that the 2nd Amendment protects and individual right to keep and bear arms, and you have just spoken out in favor of a state that taxes that right and imposes illegal restrictions, as well as outright denials of that right.

And you have the gall to write: “As you may know, I support the individual right to keep and bear arms as guaranteed by the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. I also believe that individual states should be allowed to decide what constitutes safe and responsible gun ownership so long as it does not violate that basic constitutional right.” You should be ashamed.

You have lost my vote, and will receive no further support from myself or my family.

Shameful behavior. I won’t be supporting the leftist who’s running against him, but I certainly won’t check the box besides this RINO’s name. For those who might question my decision, what would you prefer: A wolf in Sheep’s clothing, or just a regular Wolf?

I’d prefer Neither, but in Massachusetts such a thing doesn’t exist at the time.

“Gun Death” Another Beaten Child

Seriously, it never gets easier to read these.

PHOENIX – A three-year-old girl in Phoenix died after being brutally beaten by her stepfather when she refused to eat a hot dog, police said Sunday.

Dani Mayo was rushed to a local hospital last Thursday after her 22-year-old stepfather, Corey Daniels, reported she had stopped breathing because she had choked on a hot dog, myFOXphoenix.com reported. Police suspected foul play when doctors found Dani was suffering multiple skull fractures and swelling and bleeding in her brain.

Seems these guys who beat children to death do it to their Girlfriend’s kid (or in this case it was a rare instant where the jerk married momma)

And I think we’re all feeling sick reading this story…but this isn’t a “Gun Death”. Why do you think people elevate that form of death over others?

h/t Bob

Unhappy Ending

Christina doesn’t run this kinda of show.

A state trooper was suspended without pay and is facing questions he tried to cover up what was really going on in a local spa and accusations that he went there himself for more than just massages.

That spa is one of three raided late last month as the site of an alleged prostitution ring.

Good-natured ribbing aside, isn’t it silly that we spend so much hoopla banning people charging money what is perfectly legal to give away for free?

I’ll close with this.

The Truth About The Truth About Guns

We all Know that Robert Farago over at the Truth About Guns is a passive-aggressive Drama-Queen. Its been documented (but here best of all) that he’s a thief. He’s also been documented quite well as a liar. (BTW I’ll note that also comes with his claim to support the 2nd Amendment, just do a little research, if supporting an anti-gun law or person can draw hits Farago’s for it)

He’s also a troll-feeder. He currently has Michael Bonomo (Mikeb302000) as a site Author who does nothing but spread baseless flames about gun owners and gun laws, while being unapologetic about his own violent criminal past, and unwilling to share how and why he acquired guns illegally….meanwhile if a reasonable person has a beef with how he runs the site (one he claims is for open debate, and NOT an echo chamber) he edits their content to change the message and/or outright bans them. (BTW check the comments, appears a gentleman actually had money stolen from him by Farago!)

Look, nothing good comes from this site. The question I have to ask you is: Why are you still reading The Truth About Guns?

More Pro-Criminal

So CSGV sent out this tweet:

MN concealed handgun permit holder decides penalty for petty theft is death, executes thief in drive-by

then links this story and video. Go watch the video, its an interview of the now deceased robber. The video is some sort of anti-violence, Gang, and Drug task force interview about this guy’s past. In the video he admits to being a gang member, committing violent crime, running with people who engage in violent crime, and doing two years in prison for violent crimes.

the linked article also gives information about the departed’s family and friend’s violent history.

Then there’s this:

Gary Shade, a firearms instructor based in Apple Valley, said he agreed with the Hennepin County attorney’s decision to not press charges against the shooter, though he generally discourages his students from chasing suspected criminals.

No charges pressed. So let’s have a look at CSGV. We have two men, one man is a violent criminal who has a long violent past, and at the time of his death had just stolen an old woman’s purse and beaten her with a pistol. The other man committed no crimes, and obviously passed the various Minnesota background checks required to get a gun and a carry permit.

Who does CSGV (and any anti-rights lobby group for that matter) side with? The CRIMINAL.

Anti-Rights, Pro-Ignorance, Pro-Criminal.

More Made-Up Problems

So the antis are kicking around this article. I’ll let you read the whole thing. First up this was written by a typical anti-gun person, meaning somebody who knows NOTHING about guns or gun laws*, so I take this with a grain of salt.

Still from the story two people are hiking through some White Mountain trails in New Hampshire (BTW I’ve hiked these very trails many times) and they encounter two guys one carrying “a large semi-automatic M16 type assault weapon”, and according to them at low ready rather than slung. Allegedly they asked if the gun was an airsoft replica and the answer was:

He said no and that the gun was “very real and very loaded.” He proudly opened the “magazine” and showed us it was full of cartridges about the size of my fingers.

yep

Who knows, if it was a semi-auto “M16 type gun” we’re talking an AR-15…and .223 is pretty small for rifle rounds. Or it was something that shoots “finger-sized” cartridges (which even the .308 rounds that an AR-10 or an FAL eats are smaller than my wife’s tiny fingers), either way their nomenclature and use of quotes around “Magazine” lead me to believe they know nothing about guns.

So let’s first have a peek at the facts as they’re presented. The guy is carrying a rifle in the New Hampshire national Forrest. So far no foul, open carry is legal there, and the law doesn’t make distinctions between handguns and long guns. The gun was allegedly carried “at the ready”. Now if true this is bad form. When carrying a handgun one must have a holster for it. Having a gun in hand can be considered a threat. I certainly would think that. Of course rifles don’t have holsters (some companies make “Scabbards” that carry the gun in a pouch on your back like a samurai sword) but the next best thing is a sling. Now with AR-15s the latest thing are the single-point tactical slings that carry the gun across your chest, and it can be steadied with a hand and appear to be in low ready. We’ll just leave that out there, if you’re going to carry a long gun, sling the weapon, or use one of thems scabbards.

Now let’s go over something these people didn’t discuss. Its the white mountains of New Hampshire. On the Lincoln Woods trail which is near by my family encountered a pair of Moose walking up the trail. Thankfully it wasn’t a cow with a calf, or a Bull in his rut so they posed no danger (still the fuckers are HUGE so even a docile one can be intimidating) but that’s not to say they can’t.

Furthermore those woods are home to Coyotes, Black Bear, Mountain Lion, and there have been attempts to re-introduce wolves. These things are a reason why I’m saving my pennies for “Project Bear Gun”, and certainly a rifle isn’t a bad idea either.

But let’s get to the bottom line. They hiked their hike. They took their pictures, they enjoyed their day. Nobody was hurt, and no laws were broken. But they really didn’t like seeing that icky gun (tho they were intimidated enough to speak with the guy carrying it).

These are the made-up problems of the antis. There isn’t any harm done, or and honest concern, hell there isn’t even any FEAR! (BTW I was in Boston once where a homeless person was having a psychotic episode and being very angry at shit that wasn’t there….I didn’t ask him about his life story, or his problems…I got away to a place he wasn’t. That’s what REAL concern looks like. The could have left the park, and they could have taken a different trail, nope they stayed on the trail with the guy with a gun…that says a LOT)

Nope, they just don’t like our life choices and wish we’d change them for their own personal consideration.

Nah, no thanks!

*BTW have you noticed that the people who don’t like Cafe Standards or speed limits or car import laws know a thing or two about cars? The people who are black civil rights activists know a lot about Jim Crow laws and the various laws and events in the Black civil rights movement. Drug lobbyists know about medicine, medical conditions, hospitals, and FDA testing requirements….but if you’re a gun control activist you don’t know an AR-15 from a 10/22, or a Colt 1911 from a Colt Python.

Nethack Note

Vlad the Impaler is king-puss!

Seriously, the Demon Lords and Demon Princes aren’t much of a struggle to kill, but at least they put up a fight. I just killed your ass while drinking my tea in about 3 turns and taking no damage.

Still I need that Candelabrum, so no sympathy for you, candy-ass!

Gunnie Note

Today is flu Shot day, so I’ll be needing to take off my coat for the nurse to cause me pain.

So the Kahr PM45 went into the pocket. I haven’t carried it in over a week, and I was shooting it this weekend so it was unloaded when I pulled it from the safe this morning.

I’ll note that both in Kahr’s owner’s manual, and across the internet you hear “Only load a kahr from slide-lock”. Seems kinda odd given that the gun seems to load itself in course of fire just fine. Whenever I load this gun cold (on the range I will do slidelock reloads) I do it like I do any other semi-auto. Insert loaded mag and rack the slide. Drop the mag, insert a fully loaded mag, press check, holster.

Never had a problem. My only thought is maybe some people are half-assing the slide stroke and either short-stroking the gun, or riding the slide home.

Nope, overhand grip, rack to full extension, and then full release and let the slide ride home under full spring tension.

Round in the pipe every time!

Oh, BTW I’m carrying the gun dirty too. I don’t think I put 25 rounds through it this weekend (we were honestly talking more than shooting) and the gun is all stainless and plastic. Seriously what’s going to happen?
