Anti-Freedom, Pro-Ignorance, Pro-Criminal

This video presented by the Brady Center shows EXACTLY what they stand for.

Anti-Freedom: They want to take the right to keep and bear arms away from as many people as they can, and restrict the choices of firearms, ammo, and accessories as much as they can. Thankfully they appear to have little to no power these days. Still they are most certainly anti-freedom.

Pro-Ignorance: First up let’s point out that Plaxico has spent most of his life learning how to throw a ball and take a hit. This is not a brain surgeon, nor is it somebody who probably formed an opinion of his own. He’s a puppet in the purest sense. He met up with the Brady Camp because he liked that option better than going to jail, and he’s reading this statement because the Brady Campaign told him to read it.

But also as Sebastian Said: ” ‘I never thought my gun would accidentally discharge’

Really? I think that’s an entirely predictable result of carrying an unholstered Glock in a pair of sweat pants.”

He was carrying a loaded Glock stuffed in the front of his sweat pants, and when it slipped he grabbed the trigger and shot himself.

The Four Rules are part of every safety course, and any class or article about conceal carry talks about holsters and why they’re so important. Plaxico exhibits the two big reasons. Why every carried gun needs a holster. #1. It keeps the gun where you put it, and not sliding down the leg of your pants, or bouncing across the floor. #2 (and this is why even when you pocket carry you need a holster) it keeps things out of the trigger guard, like clothing or your finger.

If this incident happened in a Vacuum this could have simply been solved by a quality conceal carry class. Note that the Brady Center opposes such classes because the NRA is the #1 provider of safety training in America. Also if people know how to safely carry and shoot firearms, they aren’t suitable to the lies and fear-mongering of the antis. Again, Pro-Ignorance.

Pro Criminal: I said “If this incident happened in a Vacuum” for a reason. There was a lot around this story. First up, Mr. Burris is a very good, and well-compensated Football Player. If he felt in danger or in need of protection he could have gone any number of routes to have a lawfully carried firearm with him for protection. The easiest would be to hire a bodyguard, but he probably could have paid off the appropriate people to buy a NYC Carry Permit.

I don’t suspect that’s why he had his gun with him. I was at a night club. The gun was an accessory, no different than a gold chain, or an expensive bottle of booze that these thugs don’t know from a 40oz.

He had a gun in his pants to make him look tougher. To look more like a thug.

This is something The Brady Campaign to stop Gun Violence SHOULD be discussing if their name wasn’t a total farce. Why would a Millionaire ball-player feel the need to dress up like a two-bit Pimp or Crack-dealer? The fact that “Thug Culture” is CELEBRATED in the inner city. People with money pay to look more “Thug”, and singers and artists glamorize the parasite lifestyle.

No talk of this. No talk about how Plaxico made no effort to carry a gun legally. No effort to carry a gun safely (BTW for what its worth, I’ve heard people ALSO say that a holster is a good way to identify you as a “Good Guy” as the Thugs don’t use holsters when they carry), and every effort to look like the problem rather than the solution.

Nope, they are pro-criminal, not “Anti-Violence”. Violence is the currency they deal in, so they do NOTHING to prevent it.

“Gun Death” Good Gun Control

Illinois is one of those states that anti-freedom types LOVE.

Prosecutors today described a horrific scene inside a Skokie home where a man killed his 18-year-old daughter and 2-year-old granddaughter, with the child hitting him with a toy to make him stop…“While the knife was in her little heart, he made the sign of the cross,” Cook County Assistant State’s Atty. Diann Sheridan said, quoting from his confession.

His hands covered with blood, Renteria then called 911 and told police he had just killed his daughter and granddaughter, authorities said.

These two deaths are NOT “Gun Deaths”. Aren’t you glad this jerk didn’t use a gun?

Yeah remember these two dead girls next time some turd starts prattling on about “Gun Death”.

Evening Oddity

The news has been talking about this:

Wow I heard the sound bytes on the radio on the drive home…but just looking at him I wonder if he’s on something.

STRANGE.

He was never a viable candidate, but I suspect this settles it.

Fun Afternoon

Drove up to New Hampshire after work because Uncle Jesse had secured a Generator and needed a truck and an extra set of arms to haul it home and help set it up.

I was AMAZED at the damage. His whole neighborhood was downed limbs and mangled power lines. Looks like he’ll be without power that doesn’t drink from a gas can. Same goes for my Boss that I lent my Jerry Can to so she could keep a little more go-juice for her generator.

Meanwhile my municipal power company seems to manage to keep power outages to just a few hours. Still I wonder if a generator (and a panel so things like my furnace can run) might be a wise idea.

We’ll see how Jesse gets his set-up going and I’ll think about it.

Still it was nice to see his house light up once we got that mill cranking!

Crap!

At work. Network is still down, phones are still messed up, and we still have a bunch of critical equipment that’s down.

Gonna be a long day.

More Strange Weather

Man still haven’t gotten the blog wheels turning quite yet.

Still, we had a good haul of Trick-or-Treaters last night. A bunch of little kids (most of whom had snow suits under their costumes) and several older kids, which I like to see. I still used to dress up and go door-to-door even in High School and it just turns from one form of good clean fun to another where you and your buddies work to cover as much ground and gather as much candy, all while wearing something strange.

Who can argue with that?

There is STILL snow on the ground, but its melting during the day as its been nice and sunny. So we have seasonably warm weather, trees with leaves on them (and most of them are still green) and snow on the ground, and lots of people with their power out and worried about their pipes freezing.

Seriously its surreal up here.

“Gun Death” Steak Knife

Why would anybody have a steak knife, they’re only used TO KILL!

Spirles fatally stabbed Biggs once in the neck with a steak knife. Biggs, known as “Daye-Daye” by family and friends, was taken from the apartment to Strong Memorial Hospital, where he underwent surgery and later died.

Now of course those who hate freedom mention that a steak knife is made to cut food while a gun is made to kill. (We could argue the validity of that statement, but I’ll just defer back to my “What’s Wrong With Killing?” argument.) But of course I’ve never killed anything, man or beast, with my guns. I also managed to eat various foodstuffs with a steak knife in my hand without fatal bloodshed.

My point of course is that there is a reason why these people refuse to look at the people who commit these crimes, and always at the tool.

Swamp People Rules!

So while in Buxton I watched a LOT of the History Show “Swamp People”

I was particularly taken by this specimen:

So much that my Friend Mel drew me in his traditional attire.

Also many may have seen it before, but this is my favorite work by her. We were talking about Watchmen and how the comic was draw so harsh and gritty, so I asked her to draw an idealistic and comical version of the Watchmen

The bookend to this piece was inspired by an Italian fishermen I worked with who was the SPITTING image of Super Mario…well if Super Mario wasn’t drawn in such a comic and idealistic fashion:

BTW you’ll notice in the Swamp People picture I’m accompanied by an Italian Greyhound , there’s a reason for that.

Enjoy!

Ice Cream Machine Is Snowed In

The house is fine, but work got nailed by the snow and falling branches. A lot of amenities are down, and there’s a lot of drugery to keep the wheels turning.

More later when I get home.

“Gun Death” House Fight

No guns in this story, so I’m amazed there was a death.

A MAN who savagely stabbed his casual housemate 25 times during a drug-fuelled rage has been sentenced to nine-and-a-half years jail today.

Now here’s the question that should get your blood to run cold: How long do you suppose he’ll be in the joint before they decide he’s turned his life around and let him free?

Maybe he will reform himself…but I know lots of people, and none of them have stabbed a housemate to death in a drug-fueled rage. That seems like a bit of a big deal.
