A Nocturnal Admission

I must admit this: I love skunks! They get a bad rap with the spraying of nasty musk, but really that only happens when something is honestly trying to kill them. That’s like saying you don’t like Caleb because he’ll throw coffee at you. In truth he wants to drink that coffee, then lick the cup, then run the El Presidente drill.

Skunks are really quite docile, and very curious. They’re also really cute, fluffy and funny!

I was really happy to see this guy last night. The Mrs., not-so-much. Even less when I start talking to it.

Back in college our campus was crawling with skunks, and I knew where several of the holes were. I’d chatter at them, and they’d poke out and see what I was all about. I probably could have hand-fed them if I had any food…but who has any of that stuff in college?

“Gun Death” Pit Bull

This is a gross one.

A man called police just after noon Thursday to say he came home to find the body of his wife, 32-year-old Darla Napora, on the floor in the front room of the couple’s home on Reina Del Mar Avenue. He told authorities their pit bull had attacked his wife just after he left for work.

I’m not a guy who stands behind the banning of “Dangerous Breeds”, first its pointless as all somebody needs to do is pop in enugh mutt-blood to break up the pure-breed linage to defeat this, and second any dog can be deadly dangerous. Possibly a “toy” breed might only be dangerous to small children, but its just a twisted slippery slope.

Still you wonder what’s in the minds of the anti-freedom types, as a gun will never go off on its own accord. It takes an operator to make a gun do anything. Set one on a shelf and it’ll stay there until somebody manipulates it. How many times have you heard about family cleaning out the estate of an elderly relative only to find stuffed in a sock drawer, or an attic or closet an old gun. They stay right where you put them, despite the fear tactics.

Dogs on the other hand DO have a will of their own, and do “Just go off”, and dogs left to their own accord will go feral. If we can’t be trusted with guns, will they trust us with Dogs?

Still mauled to death by a dog is not a “Gun Death”, so it doesn’t count.

Captain Bertini says the victim was pregnant and the fetus was not able to survive.

Yeah but a Fetus is just a “lump of cells”, so that also doesn’t count, right?

What He Said

Alan points out that certain bloggers just suck at blogging, and look pretty foolish when they blame others for their failures.

I must say I looked at my sitemeter this morning, and while traffic is down, its not WAYYY down dispite my spending most of my time enjoy sun, swimming and wrangling munchkins.

Still my cell reception is damn good (Thanks to Verizon, ATT sucked up here) so I’ve been popping in from time to time.

Things don’t turn out as well if you’re just a flat-out asshole.

Act Now!

Sean is making one last run of Project Gunwalker T-Shirts

Pretty cool. If you want one, order them now. Proceeds go to buying guns and ammo that will make the gun grabbers and ATF Apologists (But I repeat myself ) cry.

Can you think of a better cause?

“Gun Death” Slasher

Remember “Gun Death” is only a relevant metric to those who hate freedom right now. Like the UK which has banned guns (and also happens to be on fire right now)the anti-freedom people will simply switch to “Knife Death” once guns are heavily restricted.

“His phone got wet and he got mad,” Foster said of the attacker. “He thought (the condo owner) did it on purpose, but he didn’t.”

The man, who police said had been drinking, became enraged. He slashed through the screen, then jerked the condo owner onto the grass before stabbing him to death, police said…The man then pulled out a knife with a 10 1/2-inch blade and tried to stab the officer, police said.

“Even as the officer is attempting to handcuff him, he reiterated several times to her, ‘I’m not going to jail,’” Cannon said.

10.5″ Knife? Maybe we should ban all knives over 10 inches. That would have stopped this brutal crime, right? That of course is the logic of the Antis. Still the purpose of the “Gun Death?” files is not only to show how invalid the term “Gun Death” is, as well as pointing out that if guns are banned brutal people will grab for other items that are NOT banned to commit brutal crimes. But also to point out the horror that is a world without guns.

Simpson pulled out her pistol and fired once during the struggle. She fell to the pavement and fired a second time, police said.

“Both missed the suspect, who then fled on foot through the complex,” Cannon said.

Simpson, who joined HPD in May 1995, was cut and bruised but wasn’t seriously injured, police said.

“She was basically fighting for her life,” Cannon said.

hopefully those missed shots found a safe backstop. Still read that bit, a female officer arresting a strong male man who obviously has some issues. He attacks her with a large knife and manages to knock her on the ground.

If she hadn’t had her duty gun, she’d probably be dead, because that certainly doesn’t sound like a winning fight to me. But a female in a compromised position scared away a larger male. Why? She had a GUN!

Now the antis will argue that cops are the magical beasts that still get to have guns.

Still I ask, what about the dead person in their condo? Think they could have used a gun, maybe fired shots when they were thrown to the ground?

“Gun Death” School Stabbing

Gun Free Zones do NOT save lives.

A 17-year-old student charged with first-degree murder in the slaying of a Christian school principal told investigators he had planned to stab the woman on the third day of classes, when he knew he’d be alone with her in a classroom, police said Thursday.

So let’s look at this horrible situation. We have a School that is a gun-free zone, and likely has a school policy against knives and other weapons. We also have assault and murder which is not only against the law, but against the Christian morals taught in this school.

There were no rules that would have stopped this.

Barron sent me this story saying “I don’t see how it could have been worse if he had had a gun”. I agree. But I would add it could have been BETTER if this Principal had been able to fight back. A 49 year old woman is most likely no match for a 17 year old boy who is probably getting very close to his physical prime. But we have opposable thumbs for a reason. Humans are tool users.

End Gun Free zones, and carry your damn guns!

FuzzButt

Saw this guy on the porch railing.

No field guides here so I have no idea what he was but doesn’t he look cool?

He was about the size of a quarter for those who might want to figure him out.

“Gun Death” Three Seashells

A bit of a bizarre one, but I don’t mind really.

William Goetzee, 48, was arrested Aug. 2 outside federal court after he tried to snatch a gun from a federal security officer. During the attempt to get the gun, he told the officer he wanted to kill himself.

If all guns were banned, then he wouldn’t be in this predicament in the first place!

Marc Ehrhardt, a spokesman for Gusman, said that when someone is placed on suicide watch at the jail, they are supposed to be under constant supervision. This means under supervision “24 hours a day,” he said.

The jail suspended a deputy who was charged with observing Goetzee, according to a news release. The deputy, whom the release did not name, left his post for an undisclosed period of time, the release said.

The jail’s preliminary investigation found Goetzee “surreptitiously swallowed toilet tissue” on Sunday. While an autopsy is still pending from the Orleans Parish coroner’s office, the jail concluded that Goetzee was able to asphyxiate himself with the tissue paper.

When those looking to restrict freedom quote “Gun Death” numbers they usually include suicides, and make claims that by removing guns from society, they’ll also remove suicide.

Well there’s a solution that will keep us all safe!

h/t to Barron who also was cleaver enough to mention the three Seashells when he sent me this story.

“Gun Death” A Big one

Raining at camp I’m hunkered down and reading Monster Hunter International. Decided to come up from air and check some internets out.

Found this from Mad Duck that is a pretty crazy “GunDeath”

Go read this tale of a UK mass-stabbing.

Guns? All but banned. Knives? As restricted as guns in the more free state.

Almost like its the people, not the tools.

“Gun Death” Horseplay

I had to steal my title from the title of this article. I was told many times as a kid to “knock off the Horseplay”, but I never played like these jerks.

Amaon said deputies were called to Faison’s mobile home outside Micro about 10:30 p.m. Saturday and found Billy James “B.J.” Mitchell dead on the floor. Faison and others at the home told deputies that the two men had been drinking and were involved in horseplay, Amaon said. Mitchell lived around the corner from Faison on Ball Park Road.

At one point, Faison flipped Mitchell over, pinned him down and choked him, Amaon said. Mitchell never regained consciousness.

Of course no guns were used, so no “Gun Death”. Still both men were twisted on Alcohol and drugs which probably clouded Faison’s judgement, and possibly hindered Mitchell’s ability to recover. If we ban guns, we can end “Gun Death”, then if we ban alcohol like we do drugs, we won’t have drunken wrestling sessions anymore, right?

He was charged Saturday with drug possession after investigators found crack cocaine in his pocket, Johnston County sheriff’s spokeswoman Tammy Amaon said.

Last I checked, Cocaine was banned…but guns are different, because guns are different!
