One of the big elephants in the room for anti-rights advocates is that cars can NEVER be compared to guns EVER. Even tho they cause many deaths every year, and the potential for them to be used as a weapon is great.

Officials with the sheriff’s department say the couple was arguing in the car.

Robertson decided to get out and began walking along the shoulder of the road. Investigators say that’s when Chaffie used her car to hit Robertson.

The 37-year-old was pronounced dead and Chaffie was arrested and taken to the Wise County Jail. Her bond has not been set.

Tempers flared and an angry women reached for the weapon she had at hand…a car. The anti-rights people claim that if carry laws are loosened in ANY way that people would would shoot each other over parking spots or fender benders. Like somehow a gun is MORE deadly than a car, but really all you need to do is crunch some numbers, and you’ll see that you’re enacting a LOT more trust walking on the sidewalk on a busy street than sitting in a restaurant where the guy across the room is open carrying a 1911.

Here’s a local story that’s just taking shape:

A Maine woman whose body was discovered in a New Hampshire pond — near where her toddler daughter was found unharmed in a running car — was killed during a drug robbery, authorities said in court documents released Wednesday….Dittmeyer was lured to Michael Petelis’ Ossipee home on April 22, according to the criminal complaint. Sometime after 9:45 p.m., Anthony Papile struck her on the head with a rubber club so he could steal drugs and money from her, authorities wrote.

Papile and Petelis bound her with duct tape and put her in the trunk of her own car, authorities said. Papile drove Dittmeyer’s car to the Cranmore ski area and put Dittmeyer in the pond, investigators said.

Dittmeyer’s 14-month-old daughter was found the next day, unharmed, in the car. The woman’s body was found in a nearby pond April 27.

Clubbed and dumped in a pond over drugs and money. And Momma was engaging in such trade with young children in tow.

When people concentrate on “Gun Death” they are ignoring the real problems. Problems where a man murdered a mother with young kids over drugs. Problems where a woman with young kids was dealing with illegal drugs to dangerous people in unsafe settings.

This case has ZERO to do with guns, none were used. So this isn’t a “Gun Death”. Let’s pretend it was one of the Antis cherished “Gun Deaths”, and this woman had been clubbed, dragged into the woods and shot execution style in the head, rather than dumped in a pond. What difference would it make?

These are the questions we need to think about when dealing with those who spout the metric of “Gun Death”.

Christmas Lights and knives…we must ban them

Prosecutors say Daugherty was bound with Christmas lights by people she thought were here friends, then beaten, forced to drink urine and detergent and then stabbed to death on Feb. 9, 2010. Her mangled body was found two days later, stuffed into a plastic garbage container and left beneath a truck in a school parking lot in Greensburg, about 30 miles east of Pittsburgh.

Brutal story, but seriously, in a modern society do we REALLY have a need for knives of any size, or Christmas lights? These are just common sense plans I have to reduce “Gun Death”.
