“Window seat to hell”, indeed 🙂
A lot of people have been talking about The Cordoba House AKA the “Ground Zero Mosque”.
First up I’ll say I’m overall intentionally ignorant of this case because from what I hear about it, it sounds like a dick move, and while there are a Billion Muslims on this planet, most of whom are wonderful people, and as a non-practitioner of organized religion, overall I find most of them practically indistinguishable in their religious practices and beliefs from Christians and Jews. (I will also note all three of their holy books speak fondly of Abraham) There does appear to be some element, as a Muslim Friend of mine put it, of the “Crazy Muslims” in this building.
Blah blah blah, there’s talk of insults, of conquering, and of terrorists. In the end I don’t care because as far as I know they’re footing the bill to buy the land and build the Mosque, and the land doesn’t have a zoning conflict. (Not that I’m a huge fan of zoning laws either). That’s really the end of it. I don’t have to like it, care for it, or even go there. If they want to build their little temple there, I see no power anybody has (or SHOULD have) to stop them.
I do think its a dick move, and if I’m correct in that and this Mosque becomes a festering sore that some predict, well I see that as nothing more than a good thing. If this is a temple filled with “Crazy Muslims”, well maybe the regular kind will start speaking out against them giving the faith a bad name. If it becomes a terrorist training camp? GOOD, that means the FBI entry team will be storming a dedicated building, rather than exchanging gunfire in say a low-income apartment building filled with innocent families.
If it turns out to be nothing….well why would we have tried to stop it in the first place?
I’m not going to tell them to stop because I don’t like it, because #1 I know I don’t have that right, and #2 There are a lot of things we all do that other people might not like, I don’t want THEM to have that right to make us stop either.
So there’s my thoughts on it. What’s yours?
Tune in 7pm EST for B-B and Guns, no topic announced yet, but you know its gonna be good!
Then at 9pm EST Tune in for Vicious Circle Topic has been announced, but Alan doesn’t tend to broadcast it before the show airs. I believe VC will again be broadcast live.
Tune in!
So I’m comming down with a cold. Hopefully it’ll pass without incident, but its left me with a dry scratchy cough. The kind like the old master always has when he tells the young pupil he’s dying and the pupil’s training is complete.
I mentioned to the Mrs. that I need some medicine for it:
She thinks this is a better idea…
I dunno….

“Haven’t I read a couple cases recently with crazies in China plowing into people in buses or bulldozers?” –Christina LMT
Did a quick google search and found a story covering both:
Li Xianliang, 38, a driver at the Hongyun Coal Depot in China’s northern Hebei Province, embarked on his afternoon killing spree after arguing with a client then killing him, the Shanghai Daily said…Mr Li’s rampage follows a similar incident in February this year in neighbouring Tianjin Municipality that left 10 people dead and 11 injured.
In the Tianjin incident, Zhang Yimin drove a bus into pedestrians and cyclists as he tried to escape from police after stabbing a co-worker.
So a total of 18 dead and 31 injured in these two attacks. Also the story references the school stabbing stories talked about before.
So 18 dead (in this report, the story mentions some are in critical condition and may have, or might die) 31 injured and the weapons used are knives and heavy vehicles. Not guns tho, so these HUGE body counts don’t count for “Gun Death”.
Friggin’ AMAZING! Is the writing on the wall clear enough for you?
I’m not sure if Laci the dog is feigning stupid, or is the genuine article, but posts like this really do amaze me.
A little context, Laci is referencing this post, and it mentions that the prohibition of drugs is really the driving force of crime, not guns. I agree…Laci…well is stupid:
Now how likely is it that the prohibition on drugs will ever be lifted, and even if it is lifted, that the black market in drugs will be eradicated? After all, there are still people who make moonshine liquor to avoid paying taxes. So, if we want to get into it, there will always be an economic incentive for a black market in drugs if they are regulated.
Seriously, how can anybody put their name (or their dog’s name) to a statement that stupid? Are their moonshiners out there? Yep! Do some of those shiners sell their hooch in an illegal black market? Yep! Are these numbers in any way significant? NO NO NO!
I know a few people who have at least TALKED about making their own distilled spirits, most of them did it in a “Because I can” tinkerer’s puzzle, none did it for a market pressure. Why not? Because you could get your ass arrested for making a product that is cheap, plentiful, and of better quality on the LEGAL market.
Hell my Latest Project shows I have a desire to DYI my own booze, but while adding flavors to spirits for infusions is fun and easy, I fail to see what I could gain by building a pot-still and fermenting my own mash or wart, when I can buy a half-gallon of Three Olives for $30 without violating a single law.
Now all said and done, today I bet very few people consume “Moonshine” or otherwise illegally produced liquor, and less people still BUY said shine as their means to imbibe. But that Wasn’t Always the Case.
Seriously, a normal person would be embarrassed. We are obviously not dealing with a normal person.
Again I thank all who are sending me emails for this “Gun Death?” category, and I promice all fitting stories will be published, but I saw this one in the paper at the coffee machine. And I need to cover it:
Fang Jiantang, a self-employed 26-year-old, was detained within hours of the attack, Xinhua said. He admitted using a 60- centimeter long knife and police have found a weapon matching the description, Xinhua said. Three children died at the Zibo city kindergarten, while three others were taken to hospital. Four teachers were also taken to hospital, Xinhua said.
China, bastion of totalitarian government and gun control…and let’s face it PEOPLE control. And what do they get?
A series of attacks on schools that killed at least 15 children and staff in the first five months of this year sparked an outcry for greater security and led Wen to vow that the government would address the root causes of the assaults. Xu Yuyuan, a 47-year-old man who attacked 29 children and three teachers in Jiangsu province, was executed on May 30, a month after the assault.
Go over to the article to read about all the school stabbings that have happened in China. I will note that none of these murdered children count as “Gun Death”, which is the rallying cry of the anti-rights folks. I will also say that you’ll be hard pressed to find anti-rights activists who will speak favorably for the human-rights nightmare that is Red China, tho many of them are REALLY sick people, so I can’t speak for what they might say when they think they’re alone.
Whenever there is a school shooting or a workplace massacre the anti-rights people come to us with the promise that if we just give up our guns…or somehow truncate our rights they will solve the problem. I think we should all know by now how much they lie. That’s why I republish these horrible stories, because I want them to stop, and I want to show you all what WON’T work!
This story is gut-wrenching at how easily it could have been avoided.
Four-year-old twin girls have both died after a drowning accident in their backyard pool at 25 Endicott Street in Brockton Saturday morning.
A sad story, and sadder still how common this tragedy is. But this turns my stomach.
The Department of Children and Families has confirmed that they are investigating this tragedy saying concerns over the children’s welfare have been reported. Apparently a report was filed Saturday against one or both of the parents of the home for abuse and neglect.
Neighbors say a similar incident happened in this same pool a couple summers ago when one of the parent’s three children fell into the pool. She was given CPR and taken to the hospital for the night….FOX 25 has been told the pool is unused and sometimes green and murky.
We actually had a drowning in my extended family of a small child who managed to fall into a family member’s pool. Its very sad indeed, but this was a pool that was at least being actively used, and the first incident of this kind I’ve heard of.
These parents got their scare, and they did NOTHING. When we bought our house it had an above-ground pool in the back yard. It wasn’t in great shape, nor was it a very nice pool, but no matter what, here in New England outdoor pool season is generally July and August, with maybe a warm week or two in June an September. That’s hardly worth the work of keeping a pool safe and clean, so I rented a dumpster, chopped it up and had it hauled away (Took maybe 8 hours of solid work all by myself ). The pool in this case appears to be in-ground, which is a bit more difficult to remove, or fill in, but if they weren’t using it, and they already saw how easily a child could drown in it, why didn’t they do that?
I own a LOT of guns, but I’m also a logical man and relized a pool would be the WORST thing for my home.
In 2007, of all children 1 to 4 years old who died from an unintentional injury, almost 30% died from drowning.1 Although drowning rates have slowly declined,1,3 fatal drowning remains the second-leading cause of unintentional injury-related death for children ages 1 to 14 years.
The first is falls, guns aren’t even in the picture.
For even more scariness I was surprised to find out this is a recent story, as eerily similar event happened a few weeks ago Again twin girls, but as far as I can tell this was an actively used pool with a pool cover (not sure what kind of cover was used, but some pool covers can be just as dangerous as the water beneath them).
Horrible stories, the lot of them.
Because you never know when something like this may happen
MANCHESTER, Conn. (AP) – A driver caught stealing beer from the warehouse where he worked agreed to resign his job Tuesday and then as “cold as ice,” one of his victims said, went on a shooting rampage, killing eight people and injuring two before committing suicide.
Omar Thornton pulled out a handgun after a meeting in which he was shown video evidence of the thefts and was offered the chance to quit or be fired.
He was caught stealing beer from his company, and they were nice enough NOT to fire him, and what do they get? I have no idea if this was a “Gun Free Zone”, but certainly Thornton was the only gun in town, and when he ran out of people to shoot he killed himself.
Don’t the leftists say “If it could save just one life?”
Also I have noticed that some people on the lefty blogs are saying that people like Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck who are pointing out (with good evidence) the similarity to President Obama’s goals to National Socialist Regimes, as “inciting Violence”.
After shooting his co-workers, Thornton called his mother, who tried for 10 minutes to talk him out of killing himself, his uncle Will Holliday told reporters.
“He said, ‘I killed the five racists that was there that was bothering me,'” Holliday said. “He said, ‘The cops are going to come in so I am going to take care of myself.'”
Now who’s the group that calls every action that is contrary to their world views “Racist”?
You’ll note that one of the dead was Thornton’s Union Representation, While he did complain of events in the past, I wonder how much was legitimate harassment, and how much was grade-A crazy.
I will bet good money that the “Racists” he killed and shot that day’s most “Racist” actions were to be in front of his muzzle after he snapped. This was not calculated, this was a spree.
This can happen anywhere, blue collar, white collar, big corporations, small businesses. One should always be prepared for such events, as while they are statistically very unlikely, in the off event that it happens to you, you will likely be in the most danger you’ve ever been in in your life.
Be prepared, and be safe!
Of course the general comical nature of the whole thing is designed to be insulting. But note the comparison of the 2nd Amendment and the right to bear arms to health care and public transportation.
Of course we have the right to health care and light rails….we just don’t have the right to force other people to pay, buy, or build them for us. Just the same way that when I want to buy a gun I need to save up my milk money and give the shop keeper the price they’re asking for it.
To compare the two arguments whenever I WANT a gun I should be able to go to the shop and pick it up, and the shop keeper will simply submit a bill to the US tax payers. Of course since the government is paying the bill they’ll likely want to dictate how many guns we own and what brands we can have. So like “Universal Healthcare” everybody loses.
As for what gun’s they’ll pick? Hope you have tough fingers!
