And I mean it!
So the Corpse Reviver #2 (well the whole “Corpse Reviver” cocktail family) were designed as a “morning after Drink” to clear the head and to relive a hangover.
I don’t really subscribe to the “hair of the dog” school of hangover cure. Fluids, pain killers, and sleep are the best option (and I do personally think copious amounts of hot sauce get you to sweat out the Acetaldehyde, but your mileage may vary.
Still many of these “morning after drinks” quickly turn into Morning Brunch drinks, like the Bloody Mary.
Tho, to be honest there is nothing “Morning” about this drink. It’s full strength, and doesn’t contain any odd ingredients that a hung over drinker craves.
So here’s my recipe:
1oz Fresh Lemon Juice
1oz Triple Sec
1oz Lillet Blanc
1oz Gin
A few Dashes of Absinthe (I use Pernod)
Shake and serve up in a Cocktail glass with a lemon twist.
You’ll note in my glass there is that thick frothy head….that’s egg white!
To make with egg simply combine all ingredients in a shaker without ice, with about 3/4 oz fresh egg white. then whip the egg by a vigorous shake, or I use a cappuccino frother until you have a thick foam. Then add your ice and shake as normal.
The foam doesn’t add any taste, but adds a nice texture, and all the complex, but subtle flavors just seems to melt on your tongue better in the thick foam.
Also you’re now having eggs, so Breakfast???
