“Gun Death” Stabbing

They say if guns cause murder, than forks cause obesity. What if forks cause murder?

An Annapolis woman is behind bars, charged with stabbing a relative during Thanksgiving dinner….Police say 27-year-old Shenika Allsup stabbed her half brother, 23-year-old Deonte Wallace, in the neck with a serving fork after the two got into a heated argument at the table.

Wallacei was transported to Anne Arundel Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Thankfully the victim recovered, but we can see how a stab to the throat could go the other way around.

Hey, but its not a “Gun Crime” so what’s the big deal!

Great Video for the Uninitiated

Awesome video to pass around to those of you who might have friends or family unfamiliar with the Assault Rifle/”Assault Weapon” and Magazine issue:

I like that he took his sweet time in the magazine/reload section.

Good educational video, pass it around!

If Genetically Modifed Food is So Bad

Why is it that most medical research and testing is done on genetically modified animals?

As you know I work in the medical/pharma industry on the lab animal side. I’ve assisted in tests for drug efficacy, drug toxicity, and animals models for human medical conditions and treatment. Most of this stuff is done with genetically modified animals.

They have genes knocked in, genes knocked out, and all sorts of other stuff that is done to genetically modified food.

Maybe if you’re scared of that stuff you should be scared of your medication?

The False Debate

Found this video being promoted by the anti-gunners. He made some interesting points…also some interesting omissions:

He CONSTANTLY makes references to the common saw of “Everybody owning a nuclear bomb”, this is a Reductio ad absurdum fallacy, still he makes a good point that there are SOME limits. Still those limits are just as easily set by pure practicality than by “weapon control”. The components of a nuclear weapon are so toxic and hazardous that we don’t even need to craft them into a bomb before we have a danger. Also Nuclear weapons, as well as frag-grenades, shoulder-fired rockets, or claymores are just so indiscriminate that to use them for sport or defense effectively without collateral damage is almost impossible.

Of course people can and DO make explosives for recreation , and without incident, but few people have the property that Joe does to have his fun. Tho smaller scale use of explosives is pretty common and fun…hell just look at the 4th of July!

Still his analogies fall flat when he compares speed limits and statutory rape which are BEHAVIORS to banning or restricting guns which are ITEMS. Also he uses lots of belittling statements, insults, and tone…yet he doesn’t outright say where his line in the sand is.

He implies that its .223 Semi-auto rifles, and maybe magazines that hold a certain amount. But notice he stays away from that issue for most of the video.

This is how our opposition debates. They complain about 100 round magazines…and then act to ban anything holding more than 10. They talk about “Weapons of War”, but then seek to ban hunting and target rifles!

Again, more anti-gun people talking about “Debate”, but never actually foster one.

Oh well, with a little luck this will keep them at bay indefinitely…but it means we need to keep bringing the debate to them!

“Gun Death” Drive By

Yes, a Drive-By…but not the kind you’re thinking about!

The hunt is on for the suspects behind a bizarre and brazen attack in Stockton. The dangerous weapon used was a pumpkin.

Police say the woman was pummeled by the pumpkin in a drive-by assault.

Remains of the pumpkin that the suspects threw at a woman can still be seen on the ground. Her injuries were so serious that she had to be rushed to the hospital.

We need to have a debate about common sense gourd control in this country! You can’t use a gourd for hunting!!!

The Specter of Gun Control

This post is getting some great comments.

A little inside baseball for Weer’d world, but great comments and discussion are why I blog. I want to distribute information where people can find it, and discuss stuff. Thanks guys.

So this discussion of the New York Straw buyer is getting me thinking of the paranoia anti-gun freaks are pushing.

So we have a story of a woman buying a bunch of guns for an ex-con looking to cause some mayhem.

But there are some instances that came up that COULD be called a “Straw Buy”, but frankly aren’t. Things like parents buying their kid their first .22 youth model. Buying that special someone in your life a nice carry gun they’ve had their eyes on.

There is nothing sinister in this, and if you know the person well enough to know they’ll pass a NICS its not a straw buy. Its no different than selling, trading, or giving off other pieces of property. The duration its in your possession is irrelevant.

Same goes for private sales. The antis like to paint pictures of people selling guns out of the trunk of a car in a shady alley, but really we’re talking about people horse-trading, or looking to get the best price for unwanted items.

Another great example is “May Issue” permits. The antis paint the picture of a police chief doing a good look over of permits, and denying shady characters up to no good. Really its grounds for blanket denials, or a way for the chief to deny groups or individuals they don’t personally like.

The big elephant in the room is that gun control simply bans a ton of honest and wholesome behaviors for the HOPES that it’ll stop a criminal.

Of course the gang bangers stuff a stolen gun in their pants without concern for permits. Its not like they have an FDA permit for those drugs they’re selling either! The stolen guns are indeed being sold out of the trunk of cars or in flophouses, laws be damned.

So in the end its bad justice. People committing crimes because they want to surprise their wife or friend with that gun they always wanted, or for somebody who’s selling off guns because they need money and would rather not pay a gun store employee when they know people directly, and personally. And of course backwards police denying permits for people who are the wrong color, or are refusing to respect their abuse of authority.

This is what we fight against!

“Gun Death” Another Monster

There are monsters among us, and they don’t need guns!

The 19-year-old San Antonio man who police say fatally attacked his sleeping father with an ax, began to “smile and laugh” at his booking when he overheard why he was arrested, MySanAntonio.com reported, citing a police report.

Now obviously this is in the “Gun Death” files, so it doesn’t matter what gun control we have, as he didn’t use a gun. Still there are monsters among us like this who will brutally murder a helpless person for an unknown reason, and have a good laugh at it. Some people will commit acts like this with a gun. Do you think by taking guns away from lawful citizens will stop them? Not only from getting guns if that’s their prerogative, but from picking other means of murder that are more easily accessible?

Also when confronted by a laughing axe murderer, what do you want to have, a cell phone to call 911, or a gun to STOP the attack?

Again, How Gun Control Works

How the NY Arson shooter got his guns:

The neighbor of a convicted felon who ambushed firefighters on Christmas Eve, killing two, bought the guns for him and lied to the seller, knowing that he wasn’t allowed to have them, authorities said Friday.

William Spengler had picked out the semiautomatic rifle and shotgun used in the ambush and went to the sporting goods store with the neighbor when she bought them for him, U.S. Attorney William Hochul said.

Oh no! The evil Straw-buy loophole! What happened?

The neighbor, Dawn Nguyen of Rochester, was arrested Friday. She faces a federal charge of knowingly making a false statement for signing a form indicating she would be the legal owner of the guns, Hochul said. She also was charged with a state count of filing a falsified business record, State Police Senior Investigator James Newell said….The federal charges carry a maximum penalty of ten years imprisonment, a fine of $250,000 or both.

So yet another crime that no additional laws could have prevented. They will push laws, bans, and confiscations to “Prevent Crimes” that will NEVER be prevented.

Gun laws are either the numbers game or like this case and bans on things like private sales, are redundant.
