Good Luck With That!

CSGV is talking about Dick Luger’s loss on their twitter.

Too bad “Grassroots” and Votes require people that support your cause. Over at Joan Peterson’s Blog:

Yep you’re seeing that right, Joan is so desperate for “Support” that she read and approved a spam bot for “Nutrition Ebooks”. I’ve actually seen this on most of the anti-gun blogs.

Now here you’ll occasionally see a spam bot get past the filters I’ve set up, I don’t think any of the stuck around for long as I read all the comments here, but they sometimes see the light of day because I don’t moderate my comments. Anti-gun blogs have all comments secreted away, and only approve the ones they think best suit their agenda. People who support their agenda are in such short order the simple compliments left by spammers are music to their blighted ears!

They’re so disliked, the spambots are their only friends!

Would be sad if they didn’t deserve it!

Nice Shield Review

I think the bottom line was S&W did a great job with this gun. I still think the Kahr CM and CW pistols beat the pants off this one in every way as far as subcompact and ultra compact pistols, further his comparison of the Shield with with the M&P9c says to me that if I was going to carry the gun on my belt the 9c is more gun for not a lot more size, and while the Shield offers a 8-round mag, the M&P9c can be fed from a 17 or 18 round mag, as well as the standard 12.

Of course carry guns are NOT one-size-fits all, so the dimensions might be perfect for you, and of course in places like Massachusetts all M&P9 and M&P9c are limited to 10 rounds, so maybe the shield will carry better than a 9c that’s been limited from 12 down to 10 rounds for you.

Also yet another good note on the thumb safety. I don’t see a point of a thumb safety on a gun like this (besides the stupid “safety” standards in various states), but again it seems very similar to the safety on the Bodyguard .380, or the Ruger LC9, which I have found to be both easy to flick on, and unobtrusive enough to ignore entirely.

Morning Tune

Uncle Jesse sends me this neat video.

Kind of a light dubstep in style, and a VERY cool video. I like it!

“Gun Death” Music

My parents always warned me about rock music.

Police have made an arrest in Austin’s ninth homicide of the year. Police say a man was beaten to death with an electric guitar….Fisher says his roommate had been drinking with the man upstairs, and he thinks he knows what led to the murder.
“He started making sexual advances toward me and him, and they became violent,” said Fisher.
Police say another possible motive is robbery.

Its only common sense that we ban electric guitars! People can still play music with lighter acoustical guitars, and that would stop this senseless violence!

Of course we know “Gun Death” is bullshit. The person commits the crime, not the tool, and if they don’t have a gun, they reach for a guitar in this case. Claiming the tool is somehow relevant in this case is the mark of a fool.

Ummm…

I found this article via the Brady Campaign. They aren’t known for being big thinkers, but man there are limits for even rank stupidity. This article is entitled “When Are Light Bulbs More Dangerous Than Guns?” Ok you have my curiosity, when?

Gunwise, the Republican National Convention in Tampa presents the party with some knotty issues. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has designated the August convention a “National Special Security Event.” Guns will be prohibited inside the convention hall and in a safety perimeter around it….Mayor Bob Buckhorn has banned a number of items during convention week. They include: metal knuckles, mace, paintball rifles, hard plastic that is more than ¾ inch thick, wood that is more than ¼ inch thick and aerosol cans. In the area around the convention defined as the “event zone,” glass bottles, light bulbs and locks that are not attached to a bicycle will be forbidden. As will pieces of rope more than 6 inches long as well as sticks, poles or water guns.

All of these items are banned on the presumption that they might cause harm. Guns don’t make the list.

Guns don’t make the list because banning guns is specifically illegal in Florida. But are we really looking at it the right way? The anti-rights goons are bitching about guns being allowed…but they aren’t noting the sheer stupidity that Mayor Buckhorn is banning light bulbs, bike locks, pieces or rope and squirt guns!

Mayor Buckhorn is obviously a Nanny-State Moron, but because he’s anti-gun, the Brady Campaign and their mentally deficient compatriots are singing his praise.

BTW, there will be people carrying guns in the Convention…as well as lots of rope, light bulbs, and master locks, and pieces of plastic will get past the security checkpoints, and the WORST thing that will happen will be Mitt Romney getting the Republican Nomination.

The reason why this OTHER STUFF is banned is because Mayor Buckhorn CAN ban them!

Remember, anti-freedom, not anti-gun!

Again, Anti-Rights, not Anti-Gun

CSGV links this article again showing that they REALLY don’t like that icky due-process thing.

During this traffic stop, police find a handgun and some powder cocaine inside the car. Almaguer says the gangs have learned how to structure their crews so that at least one of them can be legally armed.

One member of a crew will have a concealed weapons permit, allowing them to be armed.

In Florida, anyone can get a gun permit as long as they have not been convicted of a crime. In some cases, Almaguer claimed, individuals may have multiple of arrests, but they get to keep their gun permit until they have an actual conviction.

So you end up with a situation where one guy holds the gun, another guy holds the dope, and a third guy drives.

“And there is nothing you can do about it because [the guy with the gun] has no convictions,” Almaguer said. “They’ve figured out the system and still have a firearm on them.”

The traffic stop ends with the guy holding the cocaine going to jail while the man with the concealed weapons permit was given back his gun and let go.

Now the whole article is slanted in a really peculiar way. There are lots of stories of “Gang Members”, but how do they know? They got a guy carrying Cocaine (probably not much given that the driver wasn’t charged), and one guy carrying a gun legally.

Sorry Johnny Five-Oh, but we have laws and due process for a reason. If you can’t charge them with a crime for shit this minor, we don’t need to make more shit illegal, you need to work harder to catch REAL crime. Of course we all know that cops prefer simple traffic stops, and pinching college students at parties to cruising the inner city streets. I’m sure they’d also like to get rid of the 4th and 5th Amendments too, because it would make things easier for them too!

Also, let’s just take a cynical look at this alleged “Gang Member”. They have no felony convictions, they aren’t committing any actual crimes, they really don’t sound like much of a big fish to be letting go. Also if this is indeed some “gang system”, the man with the gun has it for commission of a crime. There’s an easy solution, Just watch the bastard for when he commits a crime, so say the guy with the drugs sells them and pays the driver and the gunner for their services!

Now let’s take a cynical look. I just got back from a class. The average day involved the lab van picking us up at the Hotel and taking us to class. I’d never met any of my fellow classmates before. I don’t know if any of them had prior convictions, criminal associations, or were carrying any contraband. None of them knew I was carrying a gun. That’s fine that way, its none of their business and none of mine. Say our van had a busted tail light and we got stopped, should I lose my rights?

Well in the case of anti-rights people, yeah, whatever it takes. In the case of “task force” cops, the more arrests they make, the more they can justify their budget.

We have laws for a reason, and we have due process for a reason. If you don’t like it, well screw you! There are plenty of violent Police States in the world that would LOVE to have you!

OK I’m Stepping Down for the MA Senate Race

I was going to vote against Scott Brown for his despicable performance in the US Senate. Looking more and more like I’ll just be leaving that slot blank.

BTW here’s a late-breaking story on Ms. Warren’s “Native American heritage”

Cornell Law School professor William A. Jacobson, citing a genealogist, claimed Tuesday that Massachusetts Senate hopeful Elizabeth Warren‘s ancestry includes a great-great-great grandfather who helped round up Cherokees in the days leading to the Trail of Tears.

Warren has struggled to prove her American Indian ancestry since it was revealed more than a week ago that she referred to herself as a Native American minority in the 1980s and ’90s.

Man she’s a turd!

My 2c

There’s a bunch of talk about Robb’s post on Condition 3

Condition 3 not a good idea for carry. Also there is never a race to get the gun back into the holster.

I’d like to add this bit of advice. If I’m ever in need of a gun to defend my life, I’ll be calling the cops as soon as I feel the fight is over. This leaves me in an interesting scenario. I called the cops because I feel I was in the right for whatever I did, and therefore felt I was in grave danger. I want the cops to show up so I can let them do their investigation, and I can begin making my legal case in the event they feel the need to charge me with a crime.

While waiting for the cops I was in what WAS a dangerous situation, and “backup” (in this case the cops) are not yet on scene.

KEEP THAT GUN IN YOUR HAND! Keep it at low ready, but have it ready. It could be the bad guy’s re-enforcements will show up first, and not be happy with you.

When the cops show up throw the gun on the ground and put your hands in the air. Your carry gun should be drop safe, so this isn’t an issue, further you shouldn’t be carrying a gun that you aren’t willing to let skid across the pavement. Lastly, one of my biggest fears is that I’ll meet my end by having a police officer disarm me using bad gun handling. Some cops are gun wizards, others just shoot enough to pass the annual qualifier, and the only handgun they’ve ever handled is the one issued by their department.

I practice really hard not to sweep my vital organs and keep my finger out of the trigger guard when I work on my pistol draw…does he? I think we can easily envision how somebody could sweep you and ND during a disarm. Better to let them handle the gun AWAY from you, than deal with your holster and cover garments.

Just my 2c. What do you think?
