She is Queen Awesome!

Alan pointed me to her, but this needs to be posted!

She’s Crass, she’s adorable, she’s informative! I want her to be my best friend! Its also really neat to see the syntax of ASL which is NOT English as some may think.

Gotta love some of the phrases, I’d never heard of many of them, and I’m a crass bastard!

Or You Could Have a Boxer Punch You in the Balls!

More like .950 Dickpunch!

H/t Kevin

And in the Comments Zercool says:

You know, I have a 3.5″ 12ga that some of the bloggers tried out at the last Northeast Blogshoot. With 2oz turkey loads it’s in the vicinity of 60ft-lb of recoil. I cannot imagine something with almost five times that much power – and I would decline the opportunity to try it. I like my shoulder and retinas intact.

But DAMN that’s cool!

Yeah I shot that shotgun, and there comes a time when shit stops being fun. I’m a recoil whore, but I am NOT interested….well unless you put one on the bench in front of me…dunno if I’d stick to my word.

That Sound You Hear?

That’s a gauntlet hitting the ground! Borepatch issues a Challenge!

Baldr Odinson (whoever you are, assuming I spelled your pseudonym correctly, which I don’t care if I did or not), I challenge you to a man-to-man contest. I will prove by blog combat that you are a pussy, and that you are also an idiot. Your ideas are weak, yea, weak unto death. They make your blog weak, and everyone knows it…And I can prove it, in front of everyone on the Internet. Here’s my challenge:

– Open your comments, as mine are open here. I delete comments, but only if they are spam. For the purpose of this challenge, I will agree to delete *no* comments, even spam.

– Put up a post in reply to this post, accepting the challenge like a man. Someone who refuses to hide behind comment moderation.

– After seven (7) days, whoever has the most comments (on your post or mine) wins. If you win, I shall apologize handsomely, both in a comment to this post and in a separate post. When I say “handsomely”, I mean “will exceed your expectations”. As the Knights of old said, I will prove this at the risk of my own (blog) body.

– If you lose, you will post a simple “Borepatch was right” post. That’s all I ask of the likes of you. Pussy.

You won’t take me up on it, of course, because you’re a pussy. You know that your arguments are weak, and can’t convince anyone – as indeed the entire Gun Ban lobby has found to their dismay. Your practice of avoiding conflict and discussion has made you weak, and you know it. Even against a nobody blog like me.

Go over to Borepatch’s place to play along a goad the cowardly troll. BTW I find it interesting that Baldr does his anti-freedom work under a psudonym, but seems to like to play the whole CSGV “outing” game.

So given that you chose to support CSGV in their “Outing” efforts, I’ll give you three choices. A) Accept Borepatch’s Challenge to its letter. B) Renouce the behavior of CSGV or C) I start addressing you by your legal name.

Fair is fair, coward!

How the Nanny State Workds

AKA However it damn well wants to work.

In this episode, a New York restaurant that earned a top grade of “A” barely five months ago was shut down after the owner made a recording on his iPhone of an inspection by the city health department.

George’s, a 60-year-old downtown fixture that had to be rebuilt after the attacks of 9/11, was shuttered after the inspector became aware that owner Bill Koulmentas was crafting a memento of his visit. The diner was slapped with enough violations to close it down.

What was going on?

At one point, Reid crawled under a dishwasher and reported finding 13 roaches in the wall. So Koulmentas repeated the procedure but came up bugless. He offered the inspector $1,000 if he could produce a single roach.

But Reid had other fish to fry—or prevent from being fried, as the case might be. Among the violations he recorded was the contamination of a batch of cooked potatoes and peppers “by one loose screw (approximately one inch in size) resting on food surface on grill.”

Go read the whole thing. They didn’t appreciate allowing any sort of oversight over their corruption, bias, and incompetence, so they shut down his business…his livelihood.

Crushing innocent people under a jackboot is how the nanny-state operates.

WOW Newt!

He’s really putting ads out like this?

Look I really dislike Romney, but you think your big selling point for being president is that you’re a puerile dick?

Note to Mr. Gingrich, once you drop out of the race, you’re just the fella CSGV will want!

Its Like an Awesome Sandwich!

So when I was up in Maine, Wally, Waldo, Zelda and I were all hanging out shooting the breeze and watching various reality shows on Netflix. First we put on Sons of Guns, just to see how long it would take to get disgusted….or how long before Wally exploded seeing guys using a hacksaw, a Dremel, and a parts kit and calling that “Gun Building”.

But we watched a TON of Pawn Stars and Swamp People. So when I got an excited Email from Wally about the new show Cajun Pawn, I also flipped!

AWESOME SANDWICH! The first two episodes are actually COOLER than any episodes of Pawn Stars I’ve seen because A) People actually pawn things, B) Cajuns!!!, and C) They also pawn Animals!

Really cool show, I can’t wait to watch more! And thanks for the head’s up, Wally!

Amazing Support and a Great Podcast

First up, I can’t thank everybody who participated in the Candlelight Vigil, nor can I thank all the people who expressed their support against the attacks being waged by the anti-rights people.

We accomplished what we were going for, we showed them our numbers, and we called out the flaws in their arguments. Their rage shows EXACTLY how successful we were.

Now I just thought I’d take a moment to plug a podcast I’ve been listening to for a good while now and I really enjoy. Walt’s “Shooting the Breeze” Podcast/Vcast. His latest episode he spent a good deal of time discussing the vigil and the fallout afterwords. The wife and I watched the episode on the wide-screen last night (Walt, did you ever think people would watch you on a wide-screen TV?), and we both really appreciated what you had to say. Thanks for the great podcast!

And thanks everybody for your support, its why we’re making so much progress in the gun rights world!

“Gun Death” UK

The United Kingdom is not only a place that has essentially banned just about all weapons of self defense, but self-defense itself, its also become a police state. This has done wonders to lower its “Gun Death” rate.

An 18-year-old man has been stabbed to death in London, on one of the UK’s busiest shopping streets.

The victim died outside the Foot Locker sports shop on Oxford Street, near the junction with Stratford Place.

Police said they were called to the scene at about 13:45 GMT. Eleven people were arrested and part of the street, near Bond Street Tube, was closed.

Sounds like a gang fight to me. Totally illegal, as is murder, and are most things inside the British Police State. Didn’t stop anything. But it was a HUGE victory for the gun banners because this was NOT a “Gun Death”.

Interesting Fact to Consider

An Update on Boyds Car-wash encounter.

I spoke with the police, and let them know about the event. I provided as detailed a description of all the actors as best as I was able, and they have filed it as something for which to be alert. No incident report, nothing else exciting.

First up, unless you want to call Boyd a Liar, this means that the Cops found his use of a gun acceptable, therefore making it a legitimate Defensive Gun Use in the eyes of the police, but given that there was no damage, nobody harmed, and the altercation ended as quickly as it started, they didn’t feel the need to add more paperwork to their day. (I used to work for the government…I totally sympathize with that!)

But this means that besides Boyd’s blog, there is no record of this DGU happening. No news reports, no police report, no death certificates, no court documents. If one were to attempt to compile a list of defensive gun uses, unless Boyd was personally interviewed and felt like sharing his story it may never be logged.

This is why there’s such a massive and nebulous swing in reports on Defensive Gun Use, and why when the antis say that DGUs rarely happen I must call “Bullshit”, and while it might be fair to say that some false positives show up in surveys about defensive gun uses, studies that use police reports and other hard data GREATLY under-report the number of times guns save lives.

Of course the numbers for violent crime are NOT greatly under-reported, so carry your guns people, because a statistic is NOT something you want to be, and with a little luck you’ll be like Boyd and make it out of the woods free-and-clear, without your daughter even noticing how scary things got for a moment, or how wonderful it is to have a Dad that will stop at nothing to keep his daughter safe.
