A Must Have for Every Tool Box!

So Jay notes that he needs to get a punch kit to install his fancy-pants new laser. (BTW go check it out, I handled the prototype at the NRA convention and it looks like a REALLY great design for the P3AT, P-32 and the LCP that doesn’t drastically alter the profile or size of the gun)

So yeah I mentioned I’d tell him about my punch kit which I use all the time!

So that’s an 8 Piece Punch Kit from Grace USA (Bought from Midway USA as linked)

LOVE it. so far I’ve used them regularly and they have held up well, also the brass has indeed proven to be non-marring on my guns. These are ideal for popping out roll-pins, and popping or prying out tight parts.

Like do you have an AK or SKS with a tight gas tube? Grab the big punch and hold it along your finger and use it, rather than your soft finger to push the lever up.

This is a nice non-marring tool for removing the barrel from a CZ-52 without bending your magazine floorplate or marring the barrel with a screwdriver (Also they work good for popping the grip clip off said CZ) Oh and its the best tool if you’re fool enugh to take apart the pictured J-22. Detail stripping the 1911 is vastly a more easy task, and fairly simple if you have a nice punch kit.

So hope that helps you out, Jay, and maybe other people!

That Worked Out Well!

OK so after the deck got torn down I was left with a pile of lumber.

Called the town and they wouldn’t take it. They suggested either hauling it to a local transfer station, or having it professionally removed.

I called the transfer station and let’s just say they aren’t as easy going as the junkyards in Maine I’ve dealt with in the past. The pile was too big to fit all in my truck, and the station was going to charge me a healthy fee every time I entered their place, no matter how much slop I offloaded. I decided to call 1-800-Got-Junk on my lunch break. They were ready to come within the hour. I had to let them know when I’d be home from work first.

Dude’s showed up 10 mins after I’d gotten home (I was putting my trash barrel away just as they pulled in). The price was a bit higher than I had initially hoped for, but not much. I gave the OK, and in about 40 mins the wood was gone, and they swiped my credit card in the truck and were gone.

So a bit pricey, (and maybe outlandishly so if you have a cheap dump near you) but they’re fast, accommodating, and do all the work for you. So overall I’m happy with their work!

I’m also happy to have my yard clear again.

Update on Jet Blue Stun Gun

Update on this story found here:

Law enforcement officials were investigating how a stun gun that resembled a cell phone wound up aboard a JetBlue Airways plane at Newark airport.

That’s probably how it got through security, the functional illiterates in the TSA don’t have the faculties to determine a fake cellphone from a real one…they can only tell if its a cell they want to steal or not.

I still wonder why a person willing to risk serious punishment for carrying a device illegal in both in Massachusetts AND New Jersey, as well as prohibited inside the TSA secure area nation-wide.

We are trading our rights for NOTHING, and we’re paying millions of dollars for it.

COME ON PEOPLE! WAKE UP!

I Suspect

They say the TSA never explained why they patted this young boy down TWICE at the airport. I have a guess.

I suspect its the same reason why the young college girls get picked out too. The Government is giving out free passes to child molesters, perverts, thieves, and bullies.

Disband the TSA today!

Why We Win: Shooting is Fun!

I saw this in the office today.

Note that there’s a full page story with that photo above the fold in the BOSTON GLOBE!

BTW it was shooting trap with the Second Amendment Sisters that got my wife into shooting.

Check the footage of any anti-rights rally or gathering, first you need to note if anybody shows up You’ll see nothing but unhappy faces.

So even beyond the self defense and individual liberty, GUNS ARE FUN! Being anti-gun is not fun, and is an flawed ideology being shilled by unhappy people.

There’s only one way that can turn out!

Oh Update! Check out Lissa having a hellovatime doing some IDPA!

Lethal Force Over Stuff?

Sean has a post up of yet another person killed wounded AFTER they complied with the robber’s wishes. These cases are quite common, the most horrific in my mind is the Long Island Pharmacy Massacre.

People often say not to use lethal force over “Stuff”. As a matter of fact Michael Bane talks about this at length in his most recent podcast. “I will not shoot you over my Wallet”, “I will not shoot you over my TV” “I will not shoot you over my Car” etc etc. And he’s right. If somebody takes my wallet I’m out the cash, gift cards, and various other non-refundable items, like my train pass. I’ll need to chat with officer friendly to get a police report done about the theft, and I’ll need to get my various credit and debit cards, as well as my licenses to drive and carry cancelled and replaced. That’s a SHITLOAD of work, but better than having to kill somebody, right? (Never killed anybody, so I can’t really speak about that, certainly I wouldn’t shed a tear hearing somebody ELSE killing some jerk willing to do that)

But is that really the point of contention? Let’s mock-up a mugging for a wallet.

Thug Presents a weapon or implied weapon and in-so-many-words presents this offering point: “Give me your wallet or I will kill you.”

Now lets assume he’s not bluffing. There’s no way to tell, and the antis LOVE to give violent and dangerous people the benefit of the doubt. I think any rational person should see the error in that. I don’t associate with anybody who rob somebody or so much as THREATEN violence to get something they wish to take. The people willing to do something so dastardly are not the best and brightest of the world. They are not the people you should EVER trust, or give the benefit of the doubt.

As a general rule unless its some snot-nosed Ritalin-kid mouthing off, I’m going to assume they do indeed mean to kill me over something as trivial as my wallet.

Let’s assume I do simply hand over my wallet and chalk it up for a loss. What has actually exchanged hands? My attacker now has my wallet and its contents, but I have NOTHING new in the exchange. As you can see in the above stories you are in just as much danger AFTER you comply as before. The only thing you have is your agreement in a social contract with somebody who has already demonstrated that they have both no respect for human life, nor any honor to larger social contracts like “Don’t threaten murder” and “Don’t Rob People”.

Furthermore besides the cash and credit cards which are to the immediate benefit of the robber, what else is in your wallet? Well for starters my full name and home address. My gun permits. This will tell any thief willing think about it where the house of the guy who complies lives, and not only is there the usual stuff, but there’s also guns. Also if you have business cards in your wallet, they now know where you work. There’s all sorts of other information that can be gleaned.

So even if the robber runs away with your wallet, who’s to say the danger is done?

BTW the same can be said if they take your car, many of us keep various useful items in our car that might lead back to us if somebody takes it.

I think I can say with a high degree of confidence that you are in WORSE shape complying with a robber than resisting.

Furthermore let’s look at the “contract”: “Give me X or I will kill you.”

really is that first part even relevant? Again you get NOTHING out of the bargain, and quite possibly that “or” could turn out to be an “and” as the above cases. Really how that contract REALLY reads is: “I will Kill You!” and that’s how I read it.

The closest a mugger will get to my property is if I pull out my wallet and toss it on the ground to draw his attention away from my gun as it comes out of the holster.

I will not kill somebody over my property, but somebody willing to threaten me FOR my property is willing to kill me no matter what I do. I WILL kill over that.

How Gun Control REALLY Works

This story frames reality quite nicely.

The crew of a JetBlue flight making a late night jump from Boston to Newark last Friday made a bizarre and unnerving discovery as they cleaned up after the plane touched down at Newark Liberty Airport.

A stun gun was tucked into the back of one of the seats, authorities said.

A stun gun on an airplane. One of those flying things we need to go through metal detectors, have our bags X-Ray scanned, have nude pictures taken of our bodies, and have our genitals touched by functional illiterates with purple gloves.

Also note the departure and arrival. Boston and Newark. As in Massachusetts and New Jersey. Odd Stun Guns (and Tasers) are banned in both of those states.

I have no idea what the story is behind this stun gun, but obviously all the rules, regulations, 4th Amendment (as well as 2nd, Stun Guns are not firearms, and while they are known to be horribly ineffective, they ARE defensive arms, and they too shall not be infringed)as well as the multi-million dollar “Security” system that is the TSA….and yet still an illegally held stun gun in Boston got on a plane, flew through the air, and then arrived in Newark where stun guns are also illegal, and for whatever reason it was left on the plane (tho there was no further security that would have detected the contraband).

Gun Control means you don’t get the tools you need and want, but the criminals still get EVERYTHING they want.

Those who support gun control are anti-freedom and pro-criminal.

“Gun Death” Morality

This one kinda puts a twist on our abortion discussion:

A 22-year-old man whose brutal beating of a pregnant woman caused her baby to die nine days after being born killed a human being, not an unborn child, the Minnesota Court of Appeals ruled Tuesday.

The three-judge panel rejected Paul A. Petersen’s argument that he “did not intend to kill a human being; rather, he intended to kill an unborn child.” It also affirmed his 40-year prison sentence.

Doesn’t make a lick of difference to me, he attempted to kill a life and succeeded. He’s a murderer, and should do every second of his 40 years, and if somebody beats him to death in prison it will be a travesty, and a miscarriage of justice, but also nothing that will really upset me too much.

But again, no “Gun Death” here!

Counter-Point

I read it first here. Michele Bachmann signing some goofy pledge that bans porn. We can’t have that! I guess the counter point is she wants to ban “Illegal Porn”…which is kinda banned anyway.

Dunno seems like yet another goofy pledge that politicians sign and don’t take much interest in, and the idiots that take these pledges seriously get asshurt when their pet Solon ignores the pledge.

I’ll chalk this one up as a Wash. I like Bachmann a bit more than Sarah Palin, and certainly would support her over RINOs like Romney (who I will support Obama over) or say Jon Huntsman, whom the only think I know about him is he’s a RINO, and Newsweek and Time thinks he’s the cat’s pajamas, and that’s enough for me to know he’s poison for America.

Honestly the 2012 election is shaping up to be the biggest piece of shit, and I’m not looking forward to it.
