Gun Banners Are Idiots

I don’t mean this as an insult I mean it in the clinical sense

Maybe he’s not an idiot, maybe he’s just a Moron but you can see that Plaxico Burris struggling to get through a prepared speech. I know he’s a football player and not a professional actor (hold onto something when watching that one, that is one of the worst speech deliveries I’ve ever seen by a man who should be a pro, and I wonder why they needed to cut it in the middle?) But seriously I wonder if he even understands what he’s saying?

Joe wonders if Plaxico was floated a deal to get out of the slam. I note that Plaxico could easily afford armed security or to bribe the police for him to get one of the coveted NYC carry permits. But instead he was carrying a Glock tucked into the waistband of his sweatpants. I suspect like his usual dress this is simply another accessory in this “Thug Culture” image. The Brady Campaign is pro-thug so he saw it as the right thing to do.

It could be both, tho after watching that video, I suspect Plaxico was offered a deal and is very good at doing what he’s told so long as somebody helps him sound out the big words like “Helmke”.

For My Homies in Buxton

Seems that old Bushmaster plant is gonna start making guns again.

No idea what they’re gonna make, or if it’ll be any good. I will say I’m always amused reading the “Made in Maine” stamp on a gun.

Maybe they’ll make some really cool things!

Quote of the Day

From WizardPC over at Unc’s about the cops inventing a problem to push a political agenda. They claim if people lawfully carry guns the cops will be slowed down in responding to an spree shooter on campus. Wiz responds:

Unless they have a policy of not allowing their officers to carry while not in uniform, they need to STFU.

If officer safety is so important, better to not mistake them for bad guys when they are not in uniform.

ZING! You see you can’t do that! Cops need to have exemptions from all the carry rules us civilians have, because they may need a gun to protect themselves!

Here in May Issue Massachusetts you’ll see the Local Chief will deny a permit to everybody who comes in his door asking for one…but his wife has a permit, his Brother has one. The guys he plays cards with on weekends, they all got permits.

They don’t want to be treated the same as the “little People”.

Schrödinger’s “Progressive”

I was noticing over at another blog the token troll over there will drop some comment in disagreeing with a liberty-minded stance. As soon as the comment airs a few other people will give a thoughtful rebuttal on where the Troll’s points fail.

Then….

Nothing.

This is why I banned MikeB302000 from here. It wasn’t that he was an idiot troll, I’m fine with all of that, it was he was wasting everybody’s time pretending to debate an issue. This is the “debating” tactic of “Progressives” hit, and run. They don’t have facts, or reality, or even history on their side…but man can they say some quick poorly-thought-out talking points, and then vanish.

Got me thinking about Schrödinger’s cat. I’m hardly an expert in the field, but its my general understanding that the Cat while in the experiment simultaneously exists in a state of life and death. This is much like the “Progressives”, they feel the need to engage others who disagree with them, but they will never admit they are wrong no matter how wise a move that might be.

If they never return to a thread to further support their cause or admit defeat did they really lose the debate? Makes you think.

Makes YOU think, because you’re not “Progressive”, they HATE to do that!

Editor’s Note:  This post is something I’m REALLY proud of,  but it was also written at a time when I identified as a Republican,  so I used HEAVY Conservative Language.    This really works for ANYBODY who is ideologically entrenched.    God Fearing Conservatives when they are shown Church corruption or Hypocrisy.   “Back the Blue”  Conservatives when police abuse their powers.    Hell Republicans when the GOP Candidate just SUCKS.

Being Rigid of thought is never a good thing,   but people will move heaven and Earth to avoid admitting they might be wrong!

Mouseguns

I love mouse guns! Its a dismal and cold day today so I’m carrying a 1911 under my flannel shirt, but often this time of year I prefer to pocket carry. Its also convenient for days when you might need to take off your shirt for whatever reason.

Also given that small guns are light, and easily concealable, there’s an option for everybody! I like this because you should be carrying every day and all the time because you never know.

Uncle links this neat PDF of various popular Mouse guns on the market today.

There is almost too much information there! Its AWESOME! Still what’s neat was as I trundled my way down the list from the Seecamp .32 to the “Fullsize” pistol calibers in 9mm .40 and .45 I suddenly started noting how “HUGE” those guns were getting as they stuffed a stouter and stouter load in them.

Then I noticed the size reference. Of course they have a 5″ 1911 which is bigger than most “Fullsize” guns like the Glock 17 or the Sig P226 or P220 which just dwarfs these little guns. (I wonder if I can stuff a Seecamp into the magazine of my 1911 and have a 1911 that shoots Seecamps! TAKE THAT!) But then look at the other ref-gun. A S&W 360 AKA “The Snubbie From Hell”.

This got me thinking. Of the various small guns I own the S&W J-Frame is my go-to-gun.
Also how easily it can be safety loaded and unloaded its a must-have IMHO for anybody who’s serious about conceal carry. If you need to clear it for safety reasons just pop the cylinder open and dump the shells out. To reload just repeat. Also this doesn’t put any stress on the cartridges so round-setback isn’t even relevant to revolver cartridges. Its also light-enough to just drop into a pocket (preferably in a pocket holster but in a pinch the heavy trigger should keep the gun safe if you aren’t traveling far) which is ideal for late-night, unexpected errands. You wonder how many people have gone to the drugstore late at night for some medication, or gone to the convenience store for a pack of smokes only to walk into a robbery….or encounter something violent to or from. With a small revolver there is no excuse to not carry.

But that little package comes with a price they do indeed totally suck to shoot! That long, heavy, trigger pull can be tiresome and hinder accuracy, small sights are hard to see, and the recoil feels like you did something wrong. Something VERY wrong if your snubbie is in .357 and has an alloy frame!

One must not oversimplify things. A big powerful gun that is easy to shoot may be a great choice in a gunfight…but it might not be something you’re willing to carry all the time. A micro-gun might be easy to carry, but difficult to shoot well, and offer minimal power. Some of the small guns built for more power might have all the advantages and disadvantages of the small .32, .25s, and .22s on the market, but add in a punishing recoil into the mix.

Go back to the chart and only look at the red fingers drawn on all the guns. Those neato Seecamps really only give enough room to wrap your middle finger around the grip in a shooting grasp. In .380, even with the heavy stainless frame for a gun that size its going to want to twist out of your hand like an angry snake. Certainly if you have a good grip and some decent hand strenth that can be overcome, that will be an obstacle. Guns like the Kahr .380 or the Ruger LCP give you a little more grip (tho not much) but also have a lightweight polymer frame. That makes for difficult shooting as well. The list goes on.

Personally I don’t like pocket guns too much bigger or smaller than my J-frame just because I bought a small gun for a reason, but also I don’t want a gun that’s smaller than my needs because that will only add to the difficulty shooting it if I need to.

Really all that is just to say something we already knew. Carry the biggest gun you can because you just might need it…but understand that some days the biggest gun you can carry might not be much gun at all!

Be safe people, and Carry your guns!

Busy Morning!

One thing after another, covered in SNAFU sauce!

Should calm down in a few hours.

While you wait, let’s look at Old Glory in honor of Flag Day!

I think you should have the right to burn it so long as I have the right to dislike you for being an asshole! Sounds like America to me!

“Gun Death” A Nasty One

Yeah this one is just senseless.

The Greensburg Police Department said Tasha Parson admitted in an interview that she used her hands, feet and physical objects, including a belt and a metal tray to beat her son over a span of several hours.

According to court documents, she beat her son after he refused to tell her where some of her Percocet pills were. The boy lost consciousness sometime during Friday morning, according to the prosecutor’s office.

Reading between the lines, something tells me Mom had a bit of a pill popping problem, and Son was attempting to have an intervention. A fatal mistake.

A 12 Year old Beaten To Death because he didn’t want to see him mom a Junkie…but really we should concern ourselves with guns, because this wasn’t a “Gun Death” so who really cares?

Low Hanging Fruit

I’ve been seeing this yahoo around the web for a while now. Overall he’s an internet troll, but he’s an internet troll with some pretty lofty aspirations.

the Manteca resident is seeking the Democratic nomination for Congress with his primary campaign platform being the repeal of the Second Amendment and any pre-existing doctrine of natural law, common-law or laws under state constitutions that allow the right to keep and bear arm.

Now Joe has some interesting observations on that:

He also ignores the fact that the 2nd Amendment is part of the Bill of Rights and said Bill of Rights was a requirement for the agreement to enter into the Union. Hence if the 2nd Amendment were to be “repealed” would that mean that the states are no longer bound by the agreement to be a part of the union?

An interesting question, but let’s play Devil’s advocate and say that all he’d need to get his wish is to convene a constitutional convention and convince them to repeal the 2nd Amendment.

I’m pretty comfortable saying “I double-dog-dare-you”. Also if he’s successful at that I’m wondering what he thinks will happen next? Do you think the gunnies will cooperate?

So let’s kick this fool a tad more, shall we?

Barkley, though, has no qualms with individuals exercising the privilege to possess weapons to protect themsleves. To address that he’s proposing a constitutional amendment that would impose an annual tax on every firearm in a household. Taxes would start at $10 for the first firearm, $20 for the second firearm, $30 for the third firearm, $100 each for the fourth through ninth firearms and $1,000 each for any firearm in excess of nine.

Yeah he has no problems with people owning a gun (of course its a privilege in his eyes not a right), you just need to pay! Now do you notice an omission? Like what the money is for? I suspect he doesn’t say because he really doesn’t care, you see its a punitive tax. You you have a bunch of guns you should pay a bunch of money! You see its a privilege, and guns should be a plaything of the rich rather than a tool that poor people can use to defend themselves in the gang-infested welfare ghettos that “Progressives” like Mr. Barkley have created. Oh but the rabbit hole goes deeper!

And under his proposed amendment should a firearm be lost or stolen it would result in a $1,000 penalty with the penalty rescinded or refunded if the firearm is recovered. But there’s a big caveat to that: If the firearm is used in the commission of a felony then an additional $1,000 penalty will be imposed.

Interesting little system. Here’s a litmus that popped into my mind. Can you think of any other punitive system in existence today?

I know somebody who was charged for having his car stolen, but that was because he left the car idling in a Dunkin Donuts parking lot while he got coffee with the doors unlocked. I don’t know if I agree with that law, but essentially the law makes it illegal to leave your car in a way that invites theft. Still no such exception. If somebody breaks through your locked door, and steals a gun from a locked safe you’re still fucked.

Why on guns? Why the “progressive” mantra of “The Gun is Different Because the gun is different!”?

Why wouldn’t the same law apply if a carving knife of mine was stolen and used as a robbery weapon? Well besides the obvious: “Progressives” use kitchen knives, and hate being subject to the rules they impose on others.

Oh and for LOLS:

Already his proposals are drawing fire from critics on his blog at mikeb303000.blogspot.com

Interesting since the “MikeB” I assume they are speaking of is one Mike Bonomo who lives in Rome, and likely isn’t eligible to run for any US Public office. Also Mr. Bonomo doesn’t believe anybody should own guns for any reason….unless its for the commission of crimes.

Also that above URL isn’t a real blog. Layers of editorial oversight.

Needless to say I have no fear of somebody like Mike Barkley, as he appears to make Alvin Greene look gifted.

Good luck Mike, even in a crooked and reality-divorced state like California you’ll have a really hard time selling your big pile of crazy!

She Got Game!

So I had a dental cleaning today. It was in a new office this time, and my hygienist was very good. She was gentle (seriously I had one hygienist jab that hook into my gums, then tell ME I had to be flossing more…doesn’t matter how much I floss, hon, you stick a hook into me blood WILL come out!) and she was chatty enough that I didn’t die of boredom, but no so much that I was frustrated by all the hardware in my squawk-box.

Still I was most impressed that at one point she was buffing my teeth and she just out-of-the-blue said: “You know if you really like tea there’s this great shop at the mall!”

Now she was buffing out my tea stains and really putting some elbow grease into it, but I asked her how she knew it was tea, and not coffee.

She said she couldn’t explain it, but she’d just done so many teeth she knows how tea looks vs. Coffee.

That’s impressive!
