“Gun Death” or “Suicide By Gun” Both are irrelevant in this Strange case

SAYRE – Teresa A. Gorman, 45, of 114 N. Higgins Ave., Sayre, was arraigned in Sayre Monday for giving false information to police regarding the 2007 stabbing death of her husband, Timothy Gorman, in Sayre. Meanwhile, court papers in the case show that Timothy Gorman’s brother, Robert L. Gorman, 55, same address, who has been charged with criminal homicide in the murder, admitted to having sexual relations with Teresa Gorman both before and after his brother’s death….Upon arrival, the police sergeant was told by Teresa Gorman that her husband, Timothy Gorman, had committed suicide by stabbing himself in the chest, according to the court papers. Others at the scene were Robert Gorman; Liza Gorman, Timothy’s Gorman’s mother; and Gary Wayman, Timothy Gorman’s cousin, the affidavit notes.

Very strange case. I do know for a fact a GUN was NOT at the scene.

Long Day

This day got off to an ugly start with a visit to the doctors. It wasn’t earth-shattering news, but nor was it particularly pleasant.

Short answer with maybe a longer post later when I feel more up to it, but the thing taken out of the wife’s brain was a “low grade tumor” in the medical terms. It really wasn’t all that interesting, as it was small, and was not growing, but the medical community does not view brain tumors as “benign”. The doctors recommended we just watch for any change. We’ll be getting a second opinion, but I think we’ll hear more of the same.

The yucky news is it could be the thing in her brain will grow back. Could be soon, could be in 50 years, could be never, and if that happens it could cause problems. But right now the tumor is gone, the Mrs. hasn’t had a seizure in over a month and will be starting work on Monday, and she’ll be having a follow-up MRI in December.

With a little luck this won’t be an issue for a LONG LONG time, but it sure was shitty to hear that there was an issue at all.

I think I’ll be going to bed early tonight.

Another QOTD from Joan Peterson of the Brady Campaign and the Million Mom March. I still think she’s a calculating liar, but I think its pretty clear she’s also an idiot. Commenter “MNbasecamp” brings up the great point that firearms safety should be taught in public schools. I 100% agree. The 2nd Amendment is part of American culture, as well as a natural right, and just because your household abstains from your right does not mean your children might not find themselves in a situation with a gun. (Not to mention that your anti-gun children might grow up to be gunnies, like I did).

Joan Peterson: “It is not the role of a teacher to teach gun safety. It’s controversial for one thing. I would not want my children learning gun safety because they didn’t have guns around the home. It’s just not gonna happen. Think of something else. ”

You can almost see the outrage on her face and the spittle on her lips. Commenter “Chris Reponds: “Sex ed is controversial too, probably much more controversial than gun safety. That doesn’t stop schools from teaching it (and rightly so, I might add). ”

Joan, defeated responds: “Whatever….”

Heh this is why we win.

A Sobering Story

You’ll often hear people crowing “Why would you need a gun in a BAR!”

Well first up much of the laws don’t really cover “Bars” but restaurants that serve alcohol. And well Sean has a sobering story why having a gun in a restaurant might be handy.

In Northern New England we don’t have such laws. Its enough for the law to simply inform us carriers that if we’re caught drunk and packing a gun we will be charged with a crime (and will likely lose our guns, and certainly our permit), its the same idea as drunk driving, tho the punishment is much more severe. I’m fine with that.

I rarely drink at bars and restaurants, as I’m generally the designated driver, and I’m a cheap bastard and I don’t see the point in paying nearly twice as much for a drink simply because somebody poured it for me. That being said I go to restaurants all the time, and I know that things like this can happen.

I won’t become a statistic.

Ban All Tools

We spend a lot of time in these posts talking about “Gun Death” and “Knife Death” and “Pub Glass Death” so let’s not be coy an Ban All Tools…its for our safety!

HOLLYS SPRINGS, MS (WMC-TV) – A man was charged Sunday in a brutal weekend homicide in Marshall County, Mississippi.

Bruce Elliot Anderson is charged with murder. Police said Anderson was named by his victim with his dying breath.

The victim was found beaten beyond recognition Saturday morning on a rural road.

No further comment…

Just Take a Momement to Remember

The reluctant hero Meleanie Hain. I wrote about her death a year ago here on my Live Journal.

This is just so senseless. Meleanie made the national news when Pennsylvania revoked her carry permit after police were called when she was open carrying her Glock at her children’s soccer game.

In the following months we got to know a devoted mother who wanted to be able to protect her kids if they were ever in danger. She became a hero as her case proved to police that you CANNOT punish an innocent citizen for committing no crime. Such rulings protect us all, certainly in Pennsylvania, but across the nation.

Sadly the real danger happened to come from her husband, and the father of the very children she wanted to protect. Women everywhere need to know that if you’re sleeping with a violent person you are NEVER safe. Your only protection from that sort of danger is to LEAVE. The vow “Until Death Do Us Part” should not have such a grim tone!

Ms. Hain was NOT an activist or a spokeswoman by choice, she was forced into this position by a bigoted Police Chief who felt he could overstep his bounds. She was thrust into the media toe-to-toe with professional lobbyists by an anti-gun media who knew that their side would lose in a fair fight. The fight wasn’t fair, and yet still she always came up on top.

Sadly she was killed, but the tool used was irrelevant, Ms. Hain was in an abusive relationship for a long time. I would like anybody who is in such a relationship to LEAVE NOW! Seek shelter, seek safety. If you are concerned about your family remember Ms. Hain’s children who are now orphans.

Late To the Party

This post is a total disaster I don’t speak the language, but I can imagine nothing this jerk is saying is going to help anybody but his ego. His shooting is excellent, but why do something that risky when cardboard would do just fine?

Also the last two are REALLY insane. Firing a full-auto AK-47 from the hip in close proximity to a live “Friendly” target? I’ve never heard any professional every recommend hip-firing a gun except in the gravest of circumstances (ie the guy in on top of you and advancing, maybe you can spare a little time on the sighted shot) Transitioning between two “hostile” targets with a live “Friendly” between them is NOT one of those times. Shoulder your weapon and use your sights. And use a cardboard “Friendly” target, because not only do the bad guys move, rather than stand like paces of wood, real-life friendlies will be moving as well, unlike your lobotomized friend.

And the last one? Looks like he was a wizard with the placement of his shot-grouping…but where did the wadding go? Shotshell weddings fly rather erratically, and at that range they CAN kill….with no eye protection Mr. Backstop could be in a world of hurt.

Just don’t do this. If somebody asks you to step down range for a demo, your only response should be “Fuck you!” or if you’re in the military is “Fuck you, Sir!”

Upgrade!

Into some money. Then I took said money, added some more money and magically it turned into This:

Ok it wasn’t that easy, but now I have in my possession a Century Arms L1A1 FAL, as well as a bunch of Mass-legal 20-round Magazines. Will probably shoot it this weekend (tho my .308/7.62x51mm stocks are quite slim ATM) but this will certainly be a work in progress.

First order of business is that STOCK! Its not comfortable, looks stupid, and that added webbing between the pistol grip and the butt-stock means the safety cannot be easily reached. Does anybody know Where I can find an American-made (so not to run-afoul with the Clinton bullshit laws) L1A1 stock and pistol-grip set? The closest I’ve found is some original brit surplus stuff and This which isn’t exactly what I want, and the wording on the ad makes me wonder if it’ll fit my gun.

Also this gun doesn’t have a front sling-swivel, (nor a rear…which can be remedied with a buttstock) how does one mount a front sling swivel to this rifle?

I’m so glad to finally have it, been wanting a 7.62x51mm battle-rifle for a good while, and recently decided that the FAL would be the best bet for the time being.

Let me know if you or somebody you know are FAL geeks so I can pick brains and learn how to fly this pup!
