Nior on “Designed to Kill”

Design does not transfer intent.

And let’s face it, designing something to kill other people is a GOOD thing when we have laws that state when a person can legally kill another.

The anti-gun people CLAIM they aren’t against self defense, still I’d love to ask one of them if it would be OK for me to stab a mugger to death with my knife? Would it be OK for a woman to beat a rapist to death with a collapsible baton?

I think the answers vary, I’ve met some antis where “guns are different BECAUSE they are different” seems to apply, and others that believe under NO CIRCUMSTANCES should one person take another person’s life.

If you’re pro self-defense you SHOULD be pro gun. It’s the best tool for the job, and it’s easily usable by all ages and body types.

Oh and just because of that whole “Designed to Kill” doesn’t mean guns are particularly GOOD at that job from a field prospective. First most defensive gun uses no shots are fired. A good chunk of that small number where a round is discharged no shots hit any living target. From the people who actually get holed in a gunfight most survive that!

Compare that one 9mm Wound to say the 20+ thrusts to the liver I’d deliver if I found myself in a knife fight. To that person who was beaten to the ground by baton-strikes to the head and shoulders.

So yeah, silly argument by silly people.

“Gun Death” Another Boating Accident

From Maine

James B. Wescott, a retired Colby College track and field coach, from Camden, Maine, died on Tuesday.

The Maine Warden Service recovered his body on Tuesday night from Megunticook Lake

Wardens say the 71-year-old was in a single person sculling boat around 8 a.m. when he fell into the water and failed to resurface.

Those racing shells can be tippy, and they are so small and narrow I have to imagine it would be hard to get back onto one once you’re in the drink. Also this time of year the water is still VERY cold, so death from exposure, or cramping due to the cold is VERY possible.

Still, not a “Gun Death”.

“Gun Death” Car Fire

Guns are different from cars because they are different!

A New York man burned to death in a freak car fire on Tuesday after the car he was a passenger in hit a piece of metal on the road and ruptured the SUV’s gas tank which caused a huge explosion.

Pretty crazy! But we can’t call for the ban of cars because “Progressives” own cars! We must ban guns instead!

More Politicians Talking “Science”

I know very little about this stretch of ocean, but it’s an interesting article:

Moving to protect fragile marine life, President Barack Obama announced plans Tuesday to create the largest ocean preserve in the world by banning drilling, fishing and other activities in a massive stretch of the Pacific Ocean.

Using presidential authority that doesn’t require new action from Congress, Obama proposed to expand the Pacific Remote Islands Marine National Monument, which President George W. Bush designated to protect unique species and rare geological formations. The waters are all considered U.S. territory because they surround an array of remote, mostly uninhabited islands that the U.S. controls between Hawaii and American Samoa.

I don’t know if the pacific fleet does much fishing in these waters, nor can I comment on the potential for wiping out fragile species. Still this leads me to believe it is a boondoggle:

Carbon pollution is making the world’s oceans more acidic, pollution is threatening marine life and overfishing could wipe out entire species, Obama warned as he vowed to expand the sanctuary during an ocean conservation conference hosted by the State Department.

Except it isn’t! Seawater is a natural buffer, meaning you dump acid in it, it turns basic and neutralizes it, add base and it becomes acidic and neutralizes it, it’s the CO2 that MAKES the seawater so stable, not the other way around. Plus “Acid Rain”? Really? And you thought calling it “Global Warming” was passe, 1985 called, and it wants it’s hysterical environmental junk science back! Why not talk about “The Greenhouse Effect”, or “The Coming of a New Ice Age” while wearing a polyester pleasure suit and your hair all done up with Jerri Curl?

And then there’s this little recursive logic:

“If we ignore these problems, if we drain our oceans of their resources, we won’t just be squandering one of humanity’s greatest treasures,” Obama said in a recorded video message. “We’ll be cutting off one of the world’s major sources of food and economic growth, including for the United States. We cannot afford to let that happen.”

Got that, BAN FISHING so that we can preserve the food supply and money that comes from FISHING! God at least the eco terrorists and government grant mercenaries on the East Coast are trying to collapse the fishing industry because FISHING IS EVIL! This is the environmental equivalent of “We had to destroy the village in order to save it!”

As I read on, there appears to be little interest in drilling or fishing in this massive chunk of ocean, and given that to erect a “Fence” (what fisherman call the border of Marine closed areas) all one needs to do is set the coordinates up on a map, it probably won’t amount to much.

Still if this is his way of thinking, I am very wary on the NEXT step.

Hells YEAH!

Larry gives the oddly hard to find link to Monster Hunter Nemesis Kindle edition!

I mostly read on the train, or at night in bed while my wife is sleeping, and the front-light on the Paperwhite is ideal light for effective reading while avoiding spouse disturbance.

Let’s see how long it takes me to kill this one!

News of my Demise Have been Greatly Exaggerated

So you all have heard about my horrible cold brought on by the disease vector known as “LaWeer’da” is FINALLY starting to diminish. I was thinking about calling my doctor on Monday, but I was feeling so much better that I wanted to see how last night went.

Most nights were 50% coughing and soaking the bed with sweat, and 50% actual sleeping. Well last night was a few coughs, and a bit more sweating than was warranted, but mostly sleeping.

I still feel like crap, but it appears to be running its course. Will probably take a lot more time before I’m at 100% but I’ll take 70% after being worthless for so long.

Blogging will get better! (And thanks for all the well wishers)

“Gun Death” Caregiver

It sucks caring for somebody who is sick…but that doesn’t excuse this!

A husband who was fed up of changing his alcoholic wife’s adult diapers punched her to death in a bathtub and wrapped her body in a deflated waterbed, prosecutors have said.

…He is then said to have lived with his dead wife in their house for a few days and put her in the mattress to cover up the smell, according to the Hartford Courant.

Good thing He didn’t shoot her!

“Gun Death” Monster Dad

Horrible:

A judge on Wednesday ordered REDACTED to spend the rest of his life in prison, with no chance of being released on parole, for cutting his baby daughter’s life short at age 2½ by tossing her into a stream to die in 2011.

…But the fact that the child was REDACTED own daughter made the crime that much more unspeakable. And the way he accomplished the killing made it seem even more horrific — he strapped the child into her pink-flowered car seat, tethered a five-pound metal car jack to the seat, threw the contraption into a stream in Shark River Park in Wall and left the crying child to die in the murky water as he drove away to a liquor store.

Who does this? Why again do people focus on “Gun Death”?
