More of the Modern Racism in America

If Standards are good, then double-standards are TWICE as good!

hree juveniles allegedly involved with the Aug. 16 shooting death of Australian college athlete Christopher Lane will not be charged with a hate crime, the Duncan, Okla., district attorney said Friday.

Essendon Baseball Club

Christopher Lane, an Australian baseball player, was shot and killed while out for a jog in an Oklahoma neighborhood, police said.

“At this point, the evidence does not support the theory that Christopher Lane was targeted based upon his race or nationality,” said District Attorney Jason Hicks. “The evidence is insufficient to establish that race was the primary motive in the murder of Christopher Lane.”

Now the alleged hate crime evidence is in a twitter account (see it here), so proving ownership of the account is more effort than the DA feels it worth it, given the severity of the charge compared to murder.

Still is this sentiment so uncommon in America today? Following the George Zimmerman trial there was SO much hate against Zimmerman not because of evidence, but because he was “White”. Hell he’s still referred to as a “White Hispanic” despite his skin tone being in the approximate shade of Colin Powell.

Racism is strong in America…but its the “Progressive” kind of Racism!

“Gun Death” Mass Stabbing

London where “Gun Death” is low, but when all violent crime is considered, it isn’t so safe….

Police were called to Redlands Way, Brixton, south-west London, at 18:41 BST on Monday where a 46-year-old woman was found with a number of injuries.

Later, police found a 28-year-old woman dead and her 17-year-old sister with stab wounds at Tilson Gardens, Brixton.

The man is in custody in south London.

Isn’t Gun Control grand? Can you imagine if any of these victims had had a gun?

“Gun Death” Antique Car

From Minnesota, where Joan Peterson of the Joyce Foundation and the Brady Campaign hails.

A Minnesota woman was killed and three others injured Friday when their antique car crashed near Zion National Park.

The vehicle, a 1915 Model T Ford with Minnesota license plates, was on state Route 9 about 10:20 a.m. just outside the park entrance when the driver pulled off to the right side of the road to allow traffic that had built up behind to pass.

Funny how much noise Joan makes form the slightest gun infraction, but nothing about this. Probably because her agenda is banning all guns, and she drives to work to collect her Joyce Paycheck.

Images of the Antis: Two Pack

First up comparing Universal Background Checks to ID Checks for Voting:

Fantastic straw man with some nice stereotypes to boot! First we have a false dichotomy. All people who want to prevent voting fraud want to confirm is that you are the person who you are taking the ballot for. All you need for that is a State or Government Issued ID. Most commonly a driver’s license, but a state ID, Military ID, Passport or carry permit works fine too. These are cheap, easy and frankly next to impossible to live in America without. You need to show a photo ID to buy a drink of alcohol or tobacco, or enter an establishment that has an age restriction. Most employers require positive ID. You also need positive ID to fly, and to board trains like Amtrak or buses like Greyhound. Also while some private lodging might not require positive ID, major hotel chains sure do. Also I don’t know any landlord that does NOT require photo ID for people signing a lease.

The list could go on, but essentially EVERYBODY living in America needs some form of positive photo ID, so the ID that this would even inconvenience lawful voters is laughable, and frankly I can say with DEEP confidence, that the only people who are against Positive ID voting are proponents for voter fraud. The biggest support is their other party line items. National single-payer healthcare, welfare, public housing, free phones, free food at school, etc. They want to essentially subsidize EVERYTHING….except free photo ID for legal voters.

Now let’s look at “Universal Background Checks”, I put the quotes in there because of course nothing in “Universal”, because in places like Massachusetts where all legal gun sales must be done through the state in one way or another (and while I need to show my LTC to buy guns and ammo, I still need a phone call to NICS before I leave with my gun…unless I’m buying a gun with my 03 FFL, then I just need to show my permit in the state of Massachusetts), there are still lots of ILLEGAL gun sales going on all the time.

We’re not talking just showing an ID, cash and carry, we’re talking about a phone call into the NICS system and some paperwork filled out. Not only is that part a pain (remember you buy a gun on your own time, you generally vote in a 12 hour window on ONE specific day) but if the system goes down, as it did last Black Friday, no sales can legally occur. Remember that made-up story of Florida Voters in 2000 being turned away from the poll so George W. Bush could “Steal” The election? No evidence was found of that actually happening, but that actually happens on a semi-regular basis for FFL NICS sales!

Now also the artist is ignorant of federal law. We have this law Called GCA 1968 where selling guns privately across state lines is illegal (also selling handguns in any way across state lines is also illegal, even WITH a valid background check). Now there is no text in the law that states that ID is required, but prosecution of this law is about knowledge of a crime being committed. So essentially the easiest way to sell a gun to an unknown person is to have them display some positive ID. Many others take this further by retaining a copy of the ID and filling out a bill of sale.

Of course if the two people know each other well, that’s cash and carry, but that is also not an issue anybody is bringing up.

Onto the next one that also involves Background Checks:

This REALLY shows the anti-freedom cult’s fixation with “Gun Death” because the artist is AGREEING with the sentiment that guns don’t kill people, people do. But at the same time, the author is doing EXACTLY the behavior I shame in the “Gun Death?” Files. Ignoring all other methods of murder and assault in favor of focusing on “Gun Death” as the cause of all death in the universe.

If the artist REALLY believes that Guns indeed don’t kill people (they don’t) and people do, then they’d be demanding NICS checks on ALL SALES of all but the most soft and gentle items. Hammers also kill people, so background checks for those? Kitchen Knives also kill people, so background checks for those? Cars also kill people, so background checks for those? Steel Toed Boots also kill people, so background checks for those? The list goes on.

Really if this person REALLY believes what they say, then ALL people who can’t pass a NICS check; and let’s not mince words, they also want people on the so-called “Terror Watch List” (which happens to contain very few actual terrorists, and mostly lawful citizens) or who have undergone any form of mental health treatment to also flunk a NICS check, should be locked up in solitary confinement forever, because these are the people who allegedly “kill people”.

Of course that’s foolishness…but what’s more foolish, that or this person who ACTUALLY belives that guns are the thing that kills people and “Gun Death” is the only form of peril in the world.

Oh and bonus points for drawing the Dad brushing the bore of a lever gun with the action closed and the muzzle pointed at his chest. Not only is this impractical, but its wicked dangerous and a violation of the four rules of gun safety…which the anti-rights cult are opposed to people being taught!

Good Job Antis!

Bug A Salt and Terminal Ballistics

So I have a Bug-A-Salt and I LOVE it. Its been a great stress reliever to go on a quick hunting trip in the day. Still I was a bit surprised after seeing videos like this at the terminal performance of the Bug-A-Salt

Now the sights on this thing are GARBAGE, its a V rear-notch that only protrudes when the action is cocked and a V FRONT NOTCH. Still I find I’m VERY accurate at the very short ranges this gun is effective at. We’re really talking inside 3 feet. Which is a VERY short effective range, but when shooting flies that small reach is enough to get close enough to consistently shoot the bug without spooking it.

Still some of my hits have been HEARTBREAKING! I’ll shoot the bug only to see it fly away, or worse yet, see it roll over, and as I’m preparing a 2nd shot the bug “recovers” and flies off.

Further I’ve pumped a TON of shots into a single fly and still had the bug crawling around. Inspection found that indeed the shots were connecting AND penetrating softer insects like flies and ants. Bugs with thicker shells like beetles, bees, and wasps don’t have even remotely the same results. I have yet to shoot and recover a wasp.

Still being a biologist this got me thinking of terminal ballistics and “Stopping Power” that is generally discussed in terms of firearms, and mammals or birds. Hunting vs Self-defense is irrelevant.

Well insects are a LOT different than mammals and birds, the big one being the circulatory system:

Insects don’t have veins or arteries, but they do have circulatory systems. When blood is moved without the aid of vessels, the organism has an open circulatory system. Insect blood, properly called hemolymph, flows freely through the body cavity and makes direct contact with organs and tissues.

A single blood vessel runs along the dorsal side of the insect, from the head to the abdomen. In the abdomen, the vessel divides into chambers and functions as the insect heart (14). Perforations in the heart wall, called ostia, allow hemolymph to enter the chambers from the body cavity. Muscle contractions push the hemolymph from one chamber to the next, moving it forward toward the thorax and head.In the thorax, the blood vessel is not chambered. Like an aorta (7), the vessel simply directs the flow of hemolymph to the head.

Insect blood is only about 10% hemocytes (blood cells); most of the hemolymph is watery plasma. The insect circulation system does not carry oxygen, so the blood does not contain red blood cells as ours does. Hemolymph is usually green or yellow in color.

So #1 insects don’t really have what we consider blood pressure, as their heart-like aorta works more like a fan circulating air in a room, than a vertebrate’s pump-like heart that actually circulates the blood through a pressurized system.

This means the big stopping power in most hunting and defensive shots, the catastrophic loss of blood pressure. Also since the blood is not the primary oxygen delivery system, hypoxia to the brain will also not be caused by a ballistic penetration. FYI Insects breath through a passive trachea system.

So what does this mean for Bug-A-Salt hunters? Just because your fly got hit, doesn’t mean you don’t have a kill. A puncture to the exoskeleton will likely be fatal…just maybe not within the hour. Further even a single grain of salt is a big deal on a small fly, so poisoning via salt is also a possibility.

Another thing to note about the Bug-A-Salt is the muzzle velocity is VERY slow, this means that a bug hit may be able to recoil with the impact enough to prevent ballistic penetration. So shooting a bug on the wing is overall ineffective, as is shooting an insect parallel with the landing surface. Better to shoot into the surface the insect is on to get the most penetration of salt.

I also like using granulated salt over the larger kosher salt, as the smaller grains seem to penetrate much better.

Happy hunting!

A Big Plus on the Ruger LCR .357

So here’s something I never thought about when I reviewed my LCRs

Pocket Power

Here are my go-to defensive pocket guns. My S&W642 which is my first carry gun, My Kahr PM45, my favorite pocket-carry gun, and my New .357 Magnum LCR. Also I’ll add my Beretta 21A occasionally goes into my pocket as a backup or when I absolutely cannot pocket one of those other 3.

In the comparison I made I noted the PM45 was better in almost every way but weight and power, and both in a small sense of either. Still this morning I was heading out to run some errands. I put on my standard summer-carry attire, and on a whim dropped the .357 Magnum into my pocket as well. Now I’m wearing a pair of cargo shorts that fit well, but also have an elastic waistband. This means that even the light PM45 will tug my shorts a bit. The few ounces I shaved off with the .357 REALLY help. Also the diminished capacity of the 5 shot revolver isn’t an issue as I will only be falling back on this gun if my primary runs dry or malfunctions. Still if I can ONLY carry in the pocket, the Kahr is the better choice, further with two 7-round magazines for reloads. But this is a REALLY nice backup gun.

“Gun Death” Toddler

A sick one from China, a eutopia of gun control.

A two-year-old Chinese girl who was thrown to the ground by a man in his 40s during a row with her mother over parking has died, state media reported Saturday.

Sick, huh? But not to “Progressives” who think that only “Gun Death” is worthy of concern!
