The Tragedy of Gun Free Zones
One things that people promoting “Gun Free Zones” always overlook is:
A) Criminals don’t give a shit, as their crimes are worse than the weapon charges, and they don’t plan to get caught.
B) Transitioning from Armed to unarmed has a wealth of dangers to it. Both in handling the weapon, and safely storing it.
Of course being a gun owner I know that if I’m caught my hobby, and possibly my life is ruined, so obeying the laws is important to me, even if I don’t agree with them. But also to comply with the law in the easiest sense means I need to be futzing with a loaded gun inside a car, and finding a place to secure it. (not that cars are essentially a glass box, and no matter HOW you vault-up your gun, the whole car can be stolen and taken to a chop shop).
This means that if I go to a “Gun Free Zone” I simply don’t arm up to start with. Its easier, safer, and I’m less likely to be seen handling a gun in my car, and less likely to have my car and/or my gun stolen.
This is why I leave my gun at home when I visit North Carolina. They honor my permit, and I can carry there…but there are so many legally enforced “Gun Free Zones” it just isn’t worth it.
Police arrested two teenagers in the shooting death of a former college volleyball player in St. Louis in what they suspect was a botched robbery attempt.
The suspects are described as black males, both 18 years old, from St. Louis, Fox affiliate KTVI reported. Formal charges are expected to be filed later Friday, according to the station.
Megan Boken, 23, a former all-state volleyball player from Illinois, was shot while sitting inside her white Volkswagen outside the apartment complex where she lived last Saturday. Boken was in St. Louis to visit her alma mater, St. Louis University, and play in the annual alumni game.
Now robbery and murder are illegal, which makes the point that two 18 year old punks (possible with criminal history) carrying a gun (that sounds like is stolen) is moot.
A 23 year Old Woman is right in the wheelhouse of modern conceal carry….but she was in town for a University event, so would she be carrying even if she did generally?
This is why I hate “Gun Free Zones”, they don’t keep the bad guys out…but BOY do they disarm the good guys!

“Gun Death” Bat
Why would ANYBODY need a baseball bat! They have no sporting use!!
A psychologist has been sentenced to 20 to 30 years in prison for the baseball bat beating death of his sleeping 20-year-old daughter at their Michigan home.
BTW the anti-rights people who use “Gun Death” to push their agenda are all about having ANYBODY who sees a psychologist having their rights removed. How’d you feel if you’re a prohibited person because of this monster?

Another Gun Control Sucess Story
The hits keep coming for the “Gun Control Saves Lives” Zealots!
Unknown gunmen attacked an American diplomatic vehicle south of Mexico City, injuring three people, a Mexican military official told CNN Mexico.
The motive behind the attack on the U.S. vehicle, which was on a diplomatic mission, was not immediately known.
Gunmen inside what was described as a Mexican federal police vehicle fired upon a U.S. Embassy vehicle, said the official, who declined to be named for security reasons.
The Mexican official said three Mexican marines were injured in the shooting. However, there were conflicting reports. Some Mexican reports stated that two of the injured were Americans.
Not only are guns essentially illegal in Mexico, but impersonating federal officials is illegal as well.
Boy these laws work well!

Bystanders WERE Wounded By Police
A bystander who was wounded in today’s gunfire outside New York’s Empire State Building says he’s positive it was a police officer who shot him.
Police have said some of the nine people who were wounded were likely hit by police bullets. They suffered graze wounds or other minor injuries, and police believe at least some of the injuries were caused by bullet fragments that ricocheted off security planters.
The officers had opened fire on a man who had just shot and killed a former co-worker at a business where the gunman had been laid off from his work as a women’s accessories designer. The gunman was killed.
I think the bottom line is that police qualifications are both easy, and infrequently administered. Most cops NEVER shoot their guns until its time to re-qualify, and qualifications are done either annually or bi-annually, and tests are of VERY small round counts.
Also the antis are all saying that CCW holders would have only made things worse, as the cops were horrible shots and they’re “So well trained”. Except can ANYBODY cite a case as bad as this with a civilian shooter?
To be fair the closest I can think of is this case, but using the antis own standards, this guy is a Marine, so he doesn’t really count, just like Jeanne Assam is a “police officer” in their book.
This is just a wild story!
More info here. Sounds like the killer shot his former boss 5 times and tried to just walk away, and it appears that he never fired at police. Oh and the gun was legally bought in Florida, but illegally possessed in NYC…funny how that works. Criminals don’t care.
Oh and all the anti-rights groups are calling this a “Mass Shooting”, except all but one person was shot by Police! Classy!

Zombies…I Could Make One!!!!
So my Angel’s Trumpets are in full bloom.
Did you know these beauties are a prime ingredient in Zombies?
Several decades later, Wade Davis, a Harvard ethnobotanist, presented a pharmacological case for zombies in two books, The Serpent and the Rainbow (1985) and Passage of Darkness: The Ethnobiology of the Haitian Zombie (1988). Davis traveled to Haiti in 1982 and, as a result of his investigations, claimed that a living person can be turned into a zombie by two special powders being introduced into the blood stream (usually via a wound). The first, coup de poudre (French: “powder strike”), includes tetrodotoxin (TTX), a powerful and frequently fatal neurotoxin found in the flesh of the pufferfish (order Tetraodontidae). The second powder consists of dissociative drugs such as datura. Together, these powders were said to induce a death-like state in which the will of the victim would be entirely subjected to that of the bokor. Davis also popularized the story of Clairvius Narcisse, who was claimed to have succumbed to this practice.
Now the big question is, if I dose an anti-gun activist…will anybody notice?

More Relic Reloading
Again this is just so cool!
I really dig the paper patches. Also I wonder what lube he uses for his cases. I first started reloading for a .257 Roberts with an AMAZINGLY tight chamber. You could practically re-size the brass with the weight of the reloading lever, I used lube for the first few, then tried it without and shelved the lube bottle. Then I reloaded some brass cases I’d shot through my Hungarian M44 Carbine…..I had to take the die apart and hammer the case out with a dowel.
Lube was not optional when using a military rifle designed to eat dirty and corroded cartridges. I suspect even might light One-shot lube might be too thin for this brute-force resizing of a .45-70

More From The Gun Free Zones
Odd how often these things happen in restricted areas:
New York City officials say several people have been shot outside the Empire State Building and that the gunman is dead.
City police say three or four civilians have been wounded in the Friday morning shooting and that the shooter is dead.
I’m hearing varied reports right now on how many are actually dead or wounded.
Police say 13 people were shot and wounded in a 30-minute spate of violence in Chicago, including eight gunned down on a single street.
Authorities have been battling an increase in homicides in the city where some aldermen complain gangs have no fear of the police.
What do these places have in common?
