Can You Live Without it?

Desperation

So Joan Peterson and Jason Kilgore run a blog called “Kid Shootings” where they discuss “Children” getting shot for various reasons. Most of the articles are young criminals plying their trade getting shot, or gun accidents due to negligence. Their tag line is “Every gun in the hands of a child must first pass through the hands of an adult.” This is true, kids can’t buy guns from FFLs legally, so when a kid gets a gun it is connected to an adult somehow. Often these guns are stolen, and many of the stories the kid was just SHOT, and never got their hands on the gun. Still this entry shows their desperation for content:

18-year old Benjamin Warren and his 17-year old friend, Lewis Carrera, thought it would be funny to drive in Andover, Massachusetts and shoot at people with an Airsoft pellet gun. They drove by a frozen yogurt shot and opened fire, hitting four people and terrorizing all the customers. One of the teens had been fired from the establishment.

First up one of the “Kids” is an adult, second the “Gun” is a toy. Of course they close with “Every gun in the hands of a child must first pass through the hands of an adult.” I left a comment pointing out that in this case the “Gun” is a toy any child can buy from a toy store. My comment hasn’t been approved….surprise surprise!

Also note the picture in the header, that’s a court arraignment photo, they got a toy and used it in a malicious manner, and they’re facing criminal charges. Yeah, we need more laws!

*snicker*

Good Shooting!

More Gold for us!

Jamie Lynn Gray of the United States wins Olympic gold in women’s 50-meter rifle 3 positions.

Nice, and for Irony, some words of wisdom from CSGV!

I dunno, Ladd, seems that the only time the anti-gun nations win is when we don’t play! We’ve been grabbing a LOT of gold, and logging a bunch of world records!

Suprisingly Pro-Gun Message from CNN

Mrs. Weer’d sends me this surprisingly balanced article from anti-gun CNN.

“Owning a firearm is not a right that I take lightly.” — Jason Bostic, Fredericktown, Ohio

“If you love your children, you will teach them how to handle a real firearm.” — Ilidio Serra, Aurora, Illinois

“As a young woman who lives alone and lives in a rather rough area of town, guns are what allow me to sleep at night.” — Layland Oberschulte, Napa Valley, California

They also quote this story

I’m not out looking for trouble but if trouble shows up I want to be prepared.

Lets keep in mind that its the everyday citizen first on scene 98% of the time not the Police.

The only real “anti-gun” message is this:

“It disturbs me when I hear people say things like, ‘If someone in the crowd in Colorado had been armed, the whole thing could have been stopped.'” — Grayson Cash, Savannah, Georgia

It’s a point we heard many times. If a gun owner could have carried his weapon into the theater that night, he might have wounded or killed the shooter — or at least saved some lives. Commenters debated it at length on CNN.

“As someone who has some firearm and self-defense training, I find it laughable to think that the average Joe, in a dark theater filled with teargas, could take out a well armed and armored assailant with a five-round .38 special,” he said. “Arming more people will only eventually end in an accidental death.”

Cash said he rarely fires weapons now, except for at the shooting range, and believes there should be strict rules for firearm purchases.

You may THINK that a civilian might not have been able to improve the situation (I think that’s pretty tin-eared, as I find it hard to believe that showing the killer ZERO resistance is somehow a BETTER option) but we got numbers which override your feelings. Go lay down in your yard, or drive across the great plains, or ship out over the open ocean and tell me the world doesn’t FEEL flat. Feelings can be VERY wrong.

I’m impressed that even the anti-gun bastions are finding that keeping the anti-gun lie alive that lead to the gun restrictions of the 80s and 90s isn’t a smart strategy anymore!

FPS Russia Shaming

Mike at ENDO has been doing it for ages, but overall I’ve stayed out of the fray.

Still this video needs to be watched and understood for its stupidity

He was contemplating wearing a ballistic vest for a test where one pellet penetrated, and his cameraman takes some potentially lethal shrapnel. Couple this with his aversion to eye and ear protection, its only a matter of time before somebody gets dead or permanently maimed.

Demitri, smarten up. You can still do fun and cool stuff with guns, just be safe. Hell watch any episode of the Mythbusters! These guys get behind Lexan shields when there’s even the possibility of shrapnel or danger (and I can’t recall ever seeing those shields get harmed when they’re used to protect people), and their show is one of the most popular ones out there!

A Field of Straw Men

Gotta love it when a bunch of feeble minded “Progressives” speak smugly to the camera, and pretend they just won an argument. Via ENDO

Most of the “Facts” presented are just dumb, like saying you’re a bad hunter if you use a semi-auto. Hmmm How come every duck-hunting fanatic I know owns a Browning auto-5? Or the guy saying we should ban dangerous weapons so he won’t kill people when they make him upset. (classy!)

Still ask the founding fathers what they would think of a high-capacity self-loading man-portable rifle? They’d say “Cool! That air gun could stand to have a little more pop for military and hunting use!” (It should be a variation of Markley’s Law, the more a person talks about history as a justification to gun restriction the less they actually know about history. See the statements about how the founding fathers had no idea about repeating arms, or that it took hours to days to reload a musket, or that somehow today we have the most dangerous weapons available to the public…when just 60 some years ago you could go into a hardware store and walk out with a machine gun and a case of dynamite if you had the money and a little red wagon to haul them out with!)

Still I love the guy who says “Give me Three reasons why a civilian would need a semi-automatic weapon?”….then smugly drops it down to two, because obviously we’re all gobsmacked. Jeeze I carry a 1911 and/or a PM45 Semi-automatic handgun damn near every day…but I never thought of why! OK you win!

Hell just for a semi-auto rifle with a massive magazine I’d say 1) Hurricane Katrina, 2) Hurricane Andrew, 3) LA Riots….and for bonus 4) the latest trend of “Flash Mobs” congregating en-mass to places to do violent criminal acts. With your premise of just a semi-auto, the list is so long, I’d need to write another post…that you won’t read, because you obviously aren’t concerned with looking like an idiot, so why would you be interested in remedying that?

Anti-gunners have been saying constantly “We need a debate over gun control”….yet they just want to speak without having to defend their own thin points!

“Gun Death” Pool

When I moved into my house it had no guns in it, and it had a pool. I added guns, and removed the pool. Why? Because pools are DANGEROUS!

Based on their preliminary investigation, Arlington police said they do not believe negligence was involved in the apparent drowning deaths of twin brothers at their grandmother’s house Tuesday night in Arlington.

Police said they believe 4-year-old Mark and Luke Nguyen, of Grand Prairie, died by accident after getting into the backyard in-ground pool unnoticed. The twins slipped out the door of their grandmother’s house, located in the 3200 block of Hunter Cove Drive, within five to 10 minutes of arriving with their father. Police said the boys got through a gate around the pool, which may or may not have been secured at the time.

More children are killed in pools and other bodies of water than by guns. Hey but “Gun Deaths” are more valid, because “Progressives” don’t want to ban pools…yet

Trust the “Experts”

To quote Tam:

Listening to media personalities and politicians pontificating on firearms and firearms laws is like listening to eighth graders pontificate on sex.

They sure don’t let lack of any first hand knowledge dampen their enthusiastically-held opinions.

Example:

These weapons are meant for war. Trench warfare in World War I led to the development of a compact firearm that could fire many bullets quickly at short range. Subcompact machine guns, like the “Tommy Gun,” were quickly adopted by U.S. criminals and outlawed in 1934.

The Nazis perfected assault weapons with the “father of all assault rifles,” the STG 44, which gave rise to machine guns like the M-16 or AK-47. Forty years later, the semi-automatic descendants of these weapons, such as the AR-15 assault rifle and UZI assault pistol, were being used by criminals to terrorize American streets.

Just count the misinformation! And the kicker:

The NRA and its supporters don’t like the term “assault rifle.” Instead, they dub them “sport rifles” and suggest they are important for self-defense or hunting. But neither self-defense nor deer hunting requires a 30-round magazine.

They know NOTHING about guns, history, war, or how they work…but they know what YOU need to defend your life, hunt, or enjoy a day at the range.

BTW Jason Kilgore jumps in to help his boss out by linking this! A long, fact-free VPC “Report” that shows pictures of bolt-action military rifles and full-auto sub-machine guns.

See? That’s why we need to ban AR-15s and magazines that hold more than ten….or something.

BTW I also like the junk-on-the-bunk picture of all the old top-break revolvers, one old pocket pistol, and a bolt-action .22 in an article about all the “Assault Weapons” on our streets!

They’re total idiots…but man we should trust them!

Quote of the Day: North

From North found here:

I’m not weerd or anything, but I know weerd people. In fact some of my best friends are weerd. Not that there is anything wrong with being weerd or anything. People that are weerd are OK, but I’m not weerd myself. I fully support those people. Shit. I didn’t mean to say “those people” because they are just like you and I, they just happen to be weerd. And not like me because I’m not weerd, notthatthereisanythingwrongwiththat. But not like me.

Making me laugh will get you EVERYTHING here at Weer’d World!!!

That’ll Work…

They aren’t coming for your guns

The Honduran Congress has voted to ban the carrying of weapons in a region beset by land disputes and drug-trafficking violence.

The measure covers Colon province, on the country’s Caribbean coast, and home to some of the country’s most productive farmland.

The new law prohibits the possession of guns in public, but exempts police, soldiers and private guards.

Honduras has the world’s highest murder rate: 86 murders per 100,000 people.

The measure passed by Honduran legislators cancels gun permits and also prohibits transporting weapons in vehicles in Colon.

The area has seen a jump in violence, attributed in part to drug gangs operating there.

Oh yeah I can see drug gangs totally obeying that law and going along to get along! Also nice that they ban guns on FARM LAND! Good for them.

And private security is exempt! Rules for Thee…not for me!
