Shell Game: Culture

So Joan Peterson is back from the land of milk, honey, and gun control, and what does she say? “It is always good to come back home and sleep in your own bed after a trip.” But if Spain is such a wonderful place because of its gun control laws, why bother going back to the most gun-friendly country in the world? If its so dangerous here why come back at all? Would you take a Vacation in Lybia, or the Sudan right now? Well of course Tom makes a good point here. But that foolishness isn’t why I’m writing this post, its this bit of foolishness:

I then took the opportunity to ask them about guns in their countries. The Australian man said he knows no one who owns a gun and doesn’t own one himself. They live in a small town outside of Sydney and just don’t feel a need for a gun. He likened the small minority who is always fussing over gun rights to a group who make some noise but usually don’t get anywhere. He knew about the influence of the American NRA on the gun owners group in Australia and didn’t find that to be a good thing. The young Spaniard, Marcus, was curious over why anyone could or should carry a gun around in public. His first response was that guns would get used in situations where another means of defense might solve the problem without loss of life. He said that guns are just not carried around in Spain and that some people felt a need for guns for self protection in their homes but gun laws were very strict. He didn’t understand America’s gun culture at all. It is not even on the radar really, of the Spanish people.

Well Duhh! You talk to an American who lives just outside DC or Chicago they’ll likely not understand what’s up with us gunnies, and of course other nations who have no gun culture or self defense laws will understand our liberty without some really in-depth discussion and a massive helping of an open mind.

Let’s put this in a bit more perspective. When I first played the UK Knife “Chose-your-own-adventure” youtube game linked here (BTW take the time to play it a few times as it really shows how scary the UK and their laws have gotten). Since the game is anti-knife, and I’m somebody who carries a knife and a gun wherever I go, my first play-through was simply to do the best I would do, which is keep my nose clean, avoid dangerous situations….but carry a weapon (in the case of this game its a shitty kitchen knife). Not to allow an American-Like outcome, of you do this you’ll eventually bump into a pair of constables who will stop and frisk you…find your knife and you go to jail.

I asked an IRC buddy who lives in England about this, as it struck me as odd that the Police would just stop somebody walking down the street and frisk them. According to him and a few other people, yep, the Police in the UK do not need probable cause or reasonable suspicion to search somebody on a public street, and you know what, he didn’t see why I was so worked up that the UK doesn’t have our 4th Amendment rights.

According to Joan’s reasoning the 4th Amendment is a stupid law, and doesn’t need to be around, because the Brits don’t have a problem with the police patting somebody down on the street just for something to do…or maybe to hassle people they don’t like.

I know several female US service members in the Marines and US Army who spent time in Kuwait during the Iraq war. Wanting to keep strong, and keep up with good habits they all wanted to go for a run when they had the time. Given that Kuwait is in a Desert and near the Equator, of course they’d want to wear as little clothing as they could get away with. Well in Kuwait the base Policy is for female service members to keep their arms and legs covered when in view of the public. This is because Kuwait is one of those Muslim nations that demand woman cover up. There are lots of other nations that demand woman cover up drastically because of their interpretation of Islamic law.

Joan, you might want to cover up a bit, hon! I can not only see your bare arms, but I can also see you Ankles! In many Muslim nations they beat women severely for such a foolish act. Shouldn’t Joan exercise more common sense?

Let’s face it, opinions of other cultures isn’t a very valid argument, only facts are worthwhile.

And since we’re on the subject I’ll close with this gem:

Its a little tedious with the subtitles, but stick with it, it gets awesome!

Go Donald

I gotta love that Trump has the balls to stick to this. Look, let’s face it, Trump is an A-Typical Big-City Republican. He’s a fiscal conservative because he’s run businesses, but because he’s lived in the Urban Jungle his whole life he doesn’t have a shred of self-sufficiency, and therefore people like Him, or Rudi Giuliani, or Mitt Romney are hardcore Authoritarians, and therefore bad choices to lead this country.

Still, as crazy as we all thought the Birthers were…and I thought they were bug-fuck nuts. Turns out they were right. Our President doesn’t have a birth certificate, and this is because he wasn’t born in this country. I didn’t believe it when I first heard it, but let’s face it you have to be in extreme denial for you to see it any other way.

I have a Birth Certificate, got a certified copy right here in my Desk, and I needed to show the damn thing to get my passport, as well as my first Driver’s license. If I lose this one I can go to Maine Medical Center in Portland and get another certified copy made. My Wife has a Birth Certificate, my Friend’s have Birth Certificates, those of you reading my blog have Birth Certificates (if you were born in this country of course, we do get international readership).

Donald Trump has a Birth Certificate, George H. W. Bush, has a Birth Certificate, George W. Bush has a Birth Certificate, John McCain has a Birth Certificate, Bill Clinton has a Birth Certificate.

The bottom line is Barack Obama hasn’t shown his birth certificate because he doesn’t have one…he doesn’t have one because he wasn’t born in America.

I didn’t believe it either, and I called the Birthers all sorts of names, and didn’t take them seriously. I don’t take them much more serious now…but I do have to acknowledge that they were indeed right.

Update: Birth Certificate released

“Gun Death” Bat

Why do people have Baseball Bats? You can’t hunt with them!

Investigators from the Cherokee County Sheriff and Coroner’s offices are investigating the death of a man found beaten in a Gaffney apartment.

Seems pretty fruitless to ban guns when a common children’s toy can be used for murder just as easily.

Quote of the Day: Irony

Brady Campaign and Joyce Puppets are so dishonest they lie when they attempt to tell the truth, and tell the truth when they attempt to lie.

I hope you are having a great time making fun of what I posted. These things are on the site of the Brady Campaign. Everybody there, of course, is incompetent and stupid. Not a one of them is worth their salt. They are just a bunch of idiots who make things up as they go with no concern for facts. That’s us. And we know that you all have the all the facts and know everything about guns and gun policy. You are all well versed on everything and have done all the research for the rest of. For that we thank you!!!

She speaks the truth…for once. 😀

Give Me a Break!

I read this and was overcome by the stupid.

The White House has unveiled this year’s official souvenir eggs for the upcoming Easter Egg Roll — environmentally friendly eggs….Made from Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) — certified paperboard.
SFI paperboard uses no wood fibers from controversial sources.
The printed carton is easily recyclable when collected and processed in a municipal or community Paperboard Recycling Program.
Features vegetable oil-based inks and a water-based coating.

There is just so much stupid in there. You really want to reduce waste, why make wooden eggs in the first place? Kids want a souvenir of their egg roll, well they can get pictures taken by Mom and Dad. Then again why is the guy who talked about “Bitter people clinging to guns and religion” even recognizing Easter? I mean didn’t he join his Church because it was more about hating Whites, America, and the Jews, than that pesky loving Jesus sort of thing.

Foolishness.

Reminder PSA

Just a reminder April First is right around the corner so let’s remember Chris’s Boycott idea

Here’s how I’m going to do it. There are a small handful of anti-gun blogs, like Joan Peterson’s rathole, or Balder’s place, or Mike Bonomo’s troll-hole. There are also sites that give lip service to anti-gun causes like the Huffington post. There are also sites that claim to be pro-gun, but really aren’t like The Truth About Guns. Lastly there are a few left-wing sites that I read for opposition research. I’m going to not visit any of those sites from April First, until the following weekend at the earliest the 9th. For some of these sites like the real-deal anti-gunners, if done properly this should have their sites go completely dark. Now I don’t comment on any of those sites, its a waste of breath if you ask me. But if you DO, I ask you not to comment on ANY of the posts made during the blackout. People like Joan and Balder post only a couple of times a week, so there won’t be much that won’t get countered. But that will show as a permanent record how dead their blog was for that week.

I see this as nothing but good. Show them our power, and show how alone they are.

“Gun Death” Bar Fight

Many states don’t have laws against carrying in bars or restaurants that serve alcohol. Of the states that forbid carry in locals that serve alcohol, many are attempting to repeal these laws. The anti-rights people say it will result in blood in the streets.

Maple Valley man charged with second degree murder and assault following bar fight at Red Dog Saloon

See? Guns in bars ALWAYS results in murder!

Hewitt is alleged to have stabbed to death James Reed III and wounded Reed’s 49-year-old father with a knife

Hmmm, odd that, and given that most of the Northern states allow carry in bars and restaurants, you don’t generally hear much about trouble from conceal-carry holders in such establishments.

Its almost like the tool is irrelevant….

Looking a Little Different

About a Month ago reader a fellow blogger Bluesun made up a really neat header for the blog. I hadn’t said anything but I do want a header that includes ducks in it not only because of my “You are not a Duck” line for shoulder carry, but because I generally feel Ducks rule…and I’m a biologist so animals are a neat theme. Also I like rubber ducks because they’re ducks, and nothing says “I’m here to have fun” like rubber ducks. The image is a little cropped form his full image, since I have ZERO graphics fu, I’m asking to see if he can format it a little closer.

**UPDATE** Just got an updated image. I think this will be how the blog will look for the time being.
Thanks again Bluesun! So how does it look to you?

Last one from Helmke

Here’s one last one of the Helmke video series.

First he starts will telling the truth for the briefest of moments. “We don’t design gun control laws for the criminals…”

TRUE! Criminals do bad things with guns….so the people who follow the laws must accept more restrictions! That’ll work! That would be like quelling famine in Lybia by buying 1,000 pizzas for the local high schools!

Next he goes prattling on about gun dealers that sell to criminals. First you’ll notice Paul downplays what is his organizations biggest triumphs, the Brady bill. I mean he doesn’t want the bill that bears Sarah Brady’s name to sound like it doesn’t work. That’s not a fair assessment. Just because something doesn’t work doesn’t mean it should be called a failure!

So we need more laws against people already breaking the law? Make sense to you? That about covers all the gun control laws right there. They are either inefficient, or they they are 100% redundant. Remember, these people want to stop murder by banning guns…but murder is already illegal, why would gun bans work?

His last point is saying that if the gun makers are no longer making guns, obviously a black market of home-built mags wouldn’t sprout up except in the rarest of cases.

Ever hear of a Meth lab? Ever read the Anarchist Cookbook? Have you ever seen or heard of somebody modifying their car to sidestep government safety standards? How about the home-made bomb makers like the Unibomber or Oklahoma city? Hell the Time Square Bomber scared the crap out of me because he was VERY close to getting it right. That attack was a “Near Miss” if you will.

Sorry, if there is a market, there will be a black market. Paul likely knows that, but again he lies.
