Deafening Silence

I’m curious, the US has been waging war against Pakistan for some time now, now we’re doing it against Libya.

Visit msnbc.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

Not to mention the troops being killed in Iraq and Afghanistan which the partisan hacks in the media don’t seem to have any interest in now that a Democrat, who promised to bring them home, is now in the White House.

How long before we start seeing the anti-war forces gather on the capital like we did over the last decade?

….don’t laugh.

**Update** I thought it, but Tam said it at Unc’s

Hey, can somebody tell me when Cindy Sheehan will be starting her vigil in Hyde Park?

“Gun Death” Beating

No word on what the weapon was used, or if one was used at all.

Autopsy results released in the case of an Oregon man charged with aggravated murder show his fiancee was beaten to death….The autopsy revealed 14 broken ribs, a collapsed lung, a swelling brain, a brain bleed and bruising over nearly her entire body.

But no bullet holes, so the gun-control proponents, the ones who the sun rises and sets on the metric “Gun Death”, can breath a sigh of relief. This death doesn’t count!

No Sympathy for Plants

Spring has sprung! For lunch we fired up the grill and had BBQ ribs. I sat in my Adirondack chair and sipped wild turkey while cooking. Here’s a picture of them when there was still some snow:

My Chair is the one in the background, I call it “Old Tetanus” because you can get gouged by rusty nails if you don’t use caution sitting in it. My mom bought me this chair at a yard sale falsely thinking that I might fix it up. Fuck that, I occasionally grab a hammer and bang the lose nails back in. The one in the foreground one of my neighbors put it out on the curb one weekend. It had a ratty cushion on it that obviously housed a family of mice at some point. I chucked the cushion and gave it a hit with the hose, then let the wind and rain clean it off and its a damn nice Adirondack chair….but I don’t like it as much as Old Tetanus.

But yeah there’s no snow. After lunch we went for a walk with Vector and $w33t-P, then I went like crazy at some yard work that needed to get done. I raked the leaves, and divided up both my Bleeding Hearts, and my Lamb’s Ear, both of which had grown quite well and needed to be thinned a bit. We’ll see if the transplants take…but if they don’t, I’m a fucking Zoologist, I have ZERO sympathy for plants!

Enjoy the weather people, you know I am!

“Gun Death” Weapons Are Banned

Can you think of a place where not only guns are banned but ALL WEAPONS? Do you think there is any “Gun Death” in those places?

The head warden of a Mexico prison from which 151 inmates escaped in December was fatally stabbed yesterday during a routine inspection of the facility.

But in Prison KNIVES ARE BANNED!!!! Its almost like Criminals don’t respect the rules, and will look for cracks in the system so they can cheat the rules….and there are ALWAYS ways around laws.

I suspect this worm could have even gotten a gun…but he didn’t he got a knife…and that appeared to be enough to commit murder.

And why again do we use terms like “Gun Death”?

I laughed my ass off at the Stag rutting up the golf green, as well that dumb tourists getting chased.

No matter how placid an animal may be, if its big enough to crush you it just might!

Driving Mr. Weer’d

Didn’t stop by the Piggly Wiggly, but I did have a chauffeur this afternoon.

Happens to be the wife has been Seizure-free for six months, this means her driver’s license is valid. Since on Friday she will likely start a medication taper, and again be advised to not operate a motor vehicle. So we had lunch up the street from our house, on the way home she asked if she could take the truck for a spin. I pulled into an abandoned parking lot and handed over the keys. She did a few laps around the lot to get the feel back, then she took us home which was about a mile.

Not a serious trek, and more of the LOLz than anything. Still she got behind the wheel of a vehicle for the first time in about 5 years, and in a standard transmission!

We’re still a long ways off before I’ll be handing her the keys so she can go run errands on her own, still it was a big an exciting step for us all!

Oh Well

Alan ran quite a bit late, and when he got home he was too tired for VC. Jay, being a professional wiseass called all the VC regulars so we did have a VC…only we had no means of broadcasting or recording it.

Sorry!

VC without Alan, a recording, or a broadcast is kinda like Garfield Without Garfield.

Play Me Out: Tom Waits

Alan is running a bit late with VC, so I’m listing to a little Tom Waits to pass the time.

Why We Won’t Sit With You

So Obama wants to talk gun control. NRA said they really weren’t interested to come to a meeting that had no benefit to them. Why not? Well because Anti-gun activists are liars. Take Joan Peterson of the Brady Campaign.

So, if the NRA is as powerful as they claim, why would their Executive V.P. Wayne LaPierre and Chris Cox, Executive Director of the NRA-ILA ( the lobbying arm of the NRA) write this petulant letter to President Obama refusing to participate in meetings about gun issues and reasonable measures to stop American citizens from being shot? The tone of the letter is rude and impertinent- something unusual in a communication with the President of the United States. But the NRA doesn’t respect anyone who disagrees with them.

-Joan Peterson March 16 2011

Compare with this.

I say baloney. I have seen no evidence in my months of blogging that you guys are interested in working with us. We will do this without your support.

-Joan Peterson March 18 2011

So the NRA is disrespectful of people who disagree with them, and should be more operative in working with their political opponents? Projection, thy name is Joan!

Of course they won’t do jack or shit without our support because they have no members or support, but they also have no interest in compromise, what they want is submission.

Sorry, Hon, no such luck! Get bent!

BTW Joe has a similar post, but a much wider time gap. Of course such contradictions can be found with ALL anti-rights advocates. It’s their nature!
