Epic Post

Robb dropped a silly filler post on his blog here.

Readers played along. Seriously, LOLz aplenty!

I’m All For It!

LOL, so much saber rattling and open lies. Also I like how he seems to give lip service to ideas that were the basis of the “Fairness Doctrine” and “McCain Feingold” which are both blatant violations of the 1st Amendment (Hey but when have you ever known a Leftist politician to like ANY human rights?). Of course lies somehow claiming that saying that Republicans, Conservatives and members of the Tea-Party are Scary Gun-toting racists, wasn’t actually saying what he said.

In the End NPR and PBS are dinosaurs from the infancy of Broadcast TV and Radio, and were conceived ages before Cable and Satellite TV, and Satellite Radio…not to mention the internet where thanks to modern technology and distribution companies its where I watch all my TV, listen to all my radio. Not only are they not needed, they have become a left-wing political arm that survives solely on the money from US tax payers. They need to be defended. That is not the same as “Shut Down” as if they can survive on their own like every other broadcast source they can afford to continue and I’ll applaud them….but I know for a shitty network like NPR, they’ll likely fold as we’ve seen it before.

As for Fox News (or any other station accepting advertisements from the US Government) I’m all for that being dropped too. I don’t watch broadcast TV so I can’t comment on that, but on the radio there are CONSTANT ads produced by the Ad Council. Most of these ads are pure idiocy like “Take time out of your day to spend time with your kids”, and “Raising Awareness of Mental Illness in the African American Community”…without actually providing any useful details. Its all just people talking about how they have mentally ill family members. Not what they did to help them, or even if they did help them…just they have family and friends with problems…good for you!

This has all the effectiveness as “Just say ‘No’ to Drugs”, you think anybody taking drugs was unaware that they were autonomous human beings?

So yeah Representative McGovern, I’m all for it. Stop wasting my tax monies on NPR and PBS, as well as putting out insipid PSAs that largely go ignored, or never reach the relevant demographic.

“Gun Death” Social Network

Who’s to blame?

Her story is about teenage love. But the relationship was played out in text messages and social media web sites. A war of words that ended with a deadly street-side show down.

One night in April 2009, a year of internet battle ended in 5 seconds when Wade, 19 years old at the time, stabbed and killed her romantic rival, 18-year-old Sarah Ludemann.

So what’s to blame? Cellphones? Text Messages? Social Media? Knives? Or Violent Teens who probably showed every warning sign to uninterested parents?

If you’re sane the answer is obvious.

Tits on a Swamp Donkey

So I got some new toys today, so I decided to take a family portrait per-se.

A neat collection, ne? I’ll start at the top is what I belive is an Ontario M7 Bayonet. I started with it because its the most useful blade in the photo…and that’s only because it fits my Mossberg 590. Its also a well-made knife. Nothing fancy, but its the real-deal.

Now to the bottom is my CRKT Ultima (Link from Knifecenter.com where I bought this knife, I highly recommend them for both prices and service), I picked this one to talk about next because in the picture this is the highest-quality knife in the picture. This is a REALLY impressive knife. A nice heavy blade with a serious edge on it, great lines on the knife, and the tang is MONSTEROUS. The handle is AMAZING on this knife, its designed for you to grip it and hold onto it until you chose to release it. Its not the most comfortable handle in the world, but that’s only when you attempt to make the knife slip…as in if the knife starts to slip from your grasp it will bite into your hand until you regain your purchase. Oh and the butt of the tang is a pry bar! How cool is that?

Above the Ultima is a replica WWI Trench Knife and a leather sap.

Now both of these items are BEYOND worthless. First like the others they are too big to carry outside my home legally (never mind that I carry a damn .45 outside my home legally all the damn time), the blackjack has its own prohibition laws, and the Trench knife also has a handle that is a set of brass knuckles. Can I do more damage with any of these than my 1911? Fuck no! Does the law care? Yeah, you know the drill.

Why did I get these? Well mostly because I can. But broken down from that:

I wanted a bayonet to fit my shotgun that had a bayonet lug…in fact I bought my 590 SPECIFICALLY because it had a bayonet lug.

I’ve been eying high-quality combat-survival knives for a while, and I was just biding my time. Happens to be knifecenter put the Ultima on sale, so I grabbed it.

Its a fucking TRENCH KNIFE! A double-edged blade attached to some brass knuckles with a tang stub that can be used for a skull punch? KICK ASS! Now I know that I will NEVER use this knife for anything than a paper weight or a letter opener, so I got a cheap chicom knock-off. The blade has a lousy edge, and likely won’t be able to hold much more than that, and its likely wall-hanger quality steel. Who cares? I think it’s cool!

It’s a Fucking SAP! I’ve always wanted a blackjack. Its the original less-lethal force implement, also in pop culture its the main weapon in the Thief Video Game series which I’m a huge fan, also I’m a fan of Raymond Chandler novels, and it seems that Private Eye, Philip Marlowe is a damned Sap-Magnet, attracting saps even for neighboring counties to beat him down and leave his bloody…and he’ll heal his wounds with cigarettes and whiskey, and kill the bastard to whumped him! LOVE IT!

This sap is kinda neat. First the leather is VERY cheap and the stitching sucks, but just out of curiosity I have a 2×4 piece of pine down in the armory, I set the board down and pounded the snot out of it with the sap. The sap held, and the board now has some subtle dents in it….and my hand felt great, so its functional. Maybe it wouldn’t last a lifetime of hard use…but it’ll never get there.

Got them because I could, and I enjoy them. I have almost zero use for all of them….the biggest shame is the Ultima which is a rock-solid knife…but what will I do with it?

I also happen to have some wall-hanger swords too, you just accumulate such things in life’s travels.

I don’t see anything wrong with that!

Quote of the Day: Paper Tiger

Haven’t picked on our favorite Brady Board Member, Joan Peterson, mostly because she’s reached the end of rhetoric crib sheet and has begun to repeat herself which can bore a body to tears, so I’ve only been skimming her as of late. Well I found this amusing post where she’s doing the old Anti play to gin up the NRA as a paper tiger. **YAWN** BOR-ING…see what I mean? If you don’t well you can play along with Sebastian by reading his rebuttal post.

Me? I’m more amused by this quote from the flower-child herself:

Yes, Migo- that is why I am on the e-mail lists as well. I get all kinds of action alerts to contact my reps and Senators from several different organizations. That is a very effective way of getting supporters to let Congress know how they feel. Those polls also include gun owners who support what my side is doing. There are lots of those out there. That is revealed in the polls and in anecdotal information.

Hmm, they don’t have a concrete member’s roster, and they have email trees and biased polls…hmmm. You know what that sounds like?

A PAPER TIGER!

Yep, Projection and Anti-Rights advocates, I’d say a 100% correlation, just like comment moderation!

OK, I’m Sold!

Remember my little business plan?

If this bill that Sebstian is talking about goes through, I’m totally in!

H.R. 1093 would also provide for the transfer and possession of new machineguns by professional film and theatrical organizations.

Fuck yeah! I got no personal use for prostitutes, but as an owner of a film studio I can buy new, inexpensive machine guns? Fuck yeah! My new carry gun? An SA 361 The KLOBB!!

And for our personal security all guards will carry M16s chambered in .357 Sig! We can add a full-auto shooting range for customers (for fun, or for their films). And of course I won’t build it in Massachusetts, I’ll move back to Maine or New Hampshire.

Wally, you may need to quit your day job!

Oh yeah, and I’ll need a new FAL…with da SWITCH!!!

The heavens are talking to me. If you build it, they will Cum! 😀

Kiss Me I’m Scottish

It’s a two holidays today, neither of which I’ll be doing much special for. One you probably know, the other is just an excuse for the hacks in Boston to be drunk by 10:30 in the morning…and likely call in sick tomorrow to make for a lovely four-day-weekend.

Still if you celebrate either St. Patrick’s Day, or Evacuation Day (pronounced “Hack Holiday”) enjoy yourself.

And kiss me, I’m French Canadian!

Creepy

Borepatch has a creepy post up on the ease of hacking on-board computer systems for cars.

Since the earliest computer systems were locked inside the car there really wasn’t much need for security, but now will cellular and bluetooth technology found in most autos, and those systems not being separate from the operational components of the car its apparently VERY easy to hack in and create mischief.

This strikes me as the similar stupidity that involved the Y2K Bug. The pioneers of the industry took some shortcuts that were irrelevant at the time, assuming that the next generation would simply patch their little oversight when it became a problem.

You know what happens when we assume?

Keep Going New Hampshire

Via Doubletrouble I get news that Constitutional Carry has passed the NH House.

The 244-109 vote sends the bill (HB 330) over to the state Senate for its review.

can quote more of the news story, but I’ll just quote the bill:

I. Permits any person to carry a firearm, openly or concealed, loaded or unloaded, on or about their person or upon or in a vehicle, whether or not such person possesses a license, permit, or other authorization to carry a firearm.

II. Removes the requirement that nonresidents obtain a license to possess a firearm while in New Hampshire.

Music to my Ears. The NH Carry permit is essentially a waste of time. For Residents it takes a week to process, you get a crappy paper-permit with your name and address on in (no photo!) and essentially all they do is run a background check, and it costs $10…if they charge you at all. The Non Resident was about the same, only you got a Credit-Card type permit with your name and address…but no picture, for $20. That fee has since been raised by their governor to $100. When that happened I simply stated I would no longer renew my NH non resident permit until the fee was returned to a reasonable amount, as my Florida permit costs me $117 and is good for 7 years opposed to NH’s 5, and is good everywhere my NH permit is good…plus loads more.

Well since any cop can run a background check from his cruiser, or pick up a cellphone and do the same, why do we even need a damn permit (Anywhere, for that matter)? $0 sounds about fair to me.

If you live in New Hampshire you should be calling or mailing the Governor and your local senator urging them to support HB330. If you are a non-resident you might want to email the governor and mention how much more attractive this makes New Hampshire look to you as a vacation spot. I will say if this bill passes I’ll personally do some work to arrange a gunblogger camping trip in the Granite State for as large a group as we can manage, because Camping is as fun as exercising your enumerated rights!

Such a trip would obviously do wonders for campgrounds, as well as surrounding businesses. Knowing what I do about camping tho it might be a year post the passage of this bill.

Sound good to you?

Contact the Governor here.

Morning LOL!

For whatever reason I was searching for images of Robocops wicked-stupid shooting stance. Found it here, if you want to laugh. (Still Robo rarely missed, and he’s probably a rock-solid shooting platform without so much as a hand shake, so who’s to point fingers)

But I stumbled on this Goldmine!

This was my fave, for obvious reasons!

AWESOME!
