Joan Peterson Fisk

Joan dropped a post worthy of my time. Let’s do this!

It turns out, of course, that guns are popular gifts. Not being into guns like that, I have a hard time thinking about a gun as a gift. My experience with guns is that of hunting and then losing a loved one to a bullet. So the idea that someone would be really happy about getting a gun for Christmas just doesn’t fit with my idea of a merry time. But of course, there are many people for whom getting a gun is the ultimate gift. A hunting gun is one thing. If you are into hunting, getting a gun to use for that purpose is likely a good gift. But if the gun is meant for something else, like shooting a person, then the idea of a gun as a gift is a bad one, in my opinion. Guns are dangerous. They are one of the few, if only, products on the market designed to kill a person or animal. That’s why I was both fascinated and concerned about some of the photos that have shown up on social media showing people displaying their new guns or showing children ( and babies) surrounded by guns.

Yep, guns should just be for hunting. This is the BIGGEST wish for an anti-gun lobbyist. Now Joan may say what she wants about hunting, but in America nobody survives off of game meat. Thanks to hunting regulations, even if you WANT to subsist on game meat alone and keep away from farmed meat, you really can’t do it without running afoul of the law. Of course this doubles back to the availability of farm-raised meat in America. Its EVERYWHERE. You simply don’t NEEEEED to hunt animals.

That’s the point. If your reason to own guns is for shooting animals, that right is forfeit, as your reason can simply be boiled down to fun. You see, Joan is right, guns are dangerous, and people indeed to get killed, harmed and preyed upon by guns in the hands of bad and incompetent people. If your ONLY argument is “But they’re fun!” it isn’t much of an argument.

Of course Joan’s objection on owning guns for killing people is EXACTLY WHY we should own guns. Sure some guns are for sport, collecting, and training, but the guns that need to be protected most are for KILLING PEOPLE. You see this is perfectly legal under the law, and if that’s your argument, its rock solid.

Look at the picture she posted:

Ironically, most of those guns indeed are sporting guns ideal for hunting and sport shooting, but that pair Taurus guns are for self defense. The baby in the picture is a life worthy of protection. This strikes VERY close to home as that baby could pass for my own. You try and harm my baby, I’ll harm the hell out of you. Joan doesn’t agree with that, and I find that disagreement abhorrent.

I did have to look up the term “chopper” as used by the very young man who is shown displaying a really scary looking gun that is surely not meant for average citizens. Here is what I found at Urban Dictionary (spelling and word usage not mine):

I’m not a fan of that term, as “Chopper” used for guns is a gangster term, originally coined for the Thompson Submachine Gun used by prohibition rum-runners and depression era robbers.

Still I can’t fault it very much as I own a Jennings J22 because it is a proverbial “Saturday Night Special”, which is a racist term used by racist “Progressives” to disarm poor people in order to secure their votes. I own this gun for one reason only…they don’t want me to own it!

I can see using the term “Chopper” the same way. Further with the threat of “Flash Mobs”, and “Occupy” Groups, and other riots, one must consider a time when you might need to disperse a violent mob single-handily as Police might not respond in enough time. Again dispersing a mob that might be a threat to you, or your home is legally justified.

But back to photos, some new information has been released about the Sandy Hook shooting including some photos taken by law enforcement as evidence. So here is proof that Nancy Lanza owned a certificate of completion for an NRA shooting class. The NRA does not like to believe that the mother of the shooter of the country’s most heinous shooting had anything to do with their organization. But the NRA dominates the gun training classes in our country and does train thousands of people every year to shoot their guns. That’s fine but it would be good to know more about these classes. What is taught. How is it taught?

I won’t necessarily question the photo of Nancy Lanza’s NRA membership, as it appears to be police evidence, still the only photos I’ve seen are low-resolution and illegible. The point is overall moot. Still Joan questions NRA safety training, and she does so from an anti-rights platform that is anti-training! There are NO valid training classes in Joan’s book, so she’s against gun owners getting trained. She’s against all gun owners, even her own gun-owning husband!

After the Sandy Hook shooting the NRA famously suggested that it would sponsor gun training classes to teachers, wrongly and cynically claiming that our schools would be safer if only teachers were armed. And of course, the NRA would benefit financially because more teachers would have to go out and buy guns for this purpose. Great idea if you are in the gun industry which is inextricably linked to the NRA. But I digress.

Except the latest School shooting was stopped by an armed school offical. So Joan thinks this was bad?

And then there’s South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley bragging about getting a handgun for Christmas. Really? …The idea that elected officials need to show their love of guns or hunting in campaign photos in order to be elected is ridiculous and sends a false message about the role of guns in America. And if politicians think that cozying up to the NRA gun lobby will get them elected they should rethink.

Well except it IS good for politics. Further Beretta is looking for a new home:

Beretta has eliminated Virginia from its short list of states to move its company because anti-gun Democrat Terry McAuliffe was elected governor….The family owned, 500-year old Italian company has been scouting locations for its Accokeek factory in reaction to Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley ramming radical gun-control into law last spring.

If Haley’s purchases of a Beretta Px4 can help sway Beretta to relocate to the VERY pro-gun state of South Carolina, not only would it be good for Haley’s political future, it will also be a boon for South Carolina in both Jobs and tax monies.

Now comes the big silliness!

The message here is: avoid those photos of yourself shooting a gun. They just don’t work and they send the wrong message to a country where gun deaths and injuries total 100,000 a year while politicians do nothing to change the carnage. Take the opposite approach- the common sense approach. Rather than boasting about guns and making ridiculous remarks about what one intends to do with the guns, we should be paying constant attention to what is actually happening in our country.

Yep, stay in the closet! remember, if people know you are a gun owner and a supporter of the Second Amendment you make the job harder! Further the reason for gun ownership is shifting from rural sport shooting to urban and suburban self defense. If you are a gun owner in America today you likely own guns for self defense. Joan HATES that, and if she can’t make you not exist, she’d like to make it easy to deny your existence!

This is really a post of sad flailing to protect a false reality that gun ownership is dying in America. It isn’t, and we’re all safer because of it!

False Reality for Kids

This video is making the rounds, and its pretty sick propaganda:

Engage Fisk-mode:

First up no mention of the terrorist attacks stopped by TSA. Mostly because they haven’t. These checkpoints are worst than worthless, because they cost us BILLIONS and violate our rights.

Second: “Do we get our toys back?” Kinda. Molly’s bear will be returned as it is of little value, but electronic devices are frequently stolen. So for your handheld game, laptops, tablets, and even firearms…maybe not!

Third: Metal detectors? What is this, the year 2000? No the TSA uses scanning technology to look at your privates. If you refuse (which is your right) a pervert will touch your genitals. All violating your 4th Amendment rights and stopping NO terrorists!

Fourth: Not scary? Sorry, but this should be HORRIFYING to anybody who’s awake! This is CRIMINAL behavior, and it is for NOTHING!

In the end, its a bunch of lies pushed by a criminal organization!

Images of the “Progressives”: Living Wage

Man this one just bugs me!

I think everybody who hasn’t come from a wealthy family, and many of those people too, have worked for minimum wage. You do this because you have no skills and no experience. You work those jobs for months or years to gain those assets and then you get a BETTER job.

I know some adults who work unskilled jobs, they live packed into shitty apartments eating garbage food and indeed squeak by. Hopefully they’ll use their experience and skills to better themselves, but honestly that’s their choice.

Still the “Progressives” want to extend this to families with mortgages or quality rentals. Sorry, if you want a house and kids you can’t make this money working at KFC or McDonalds. If you are in this situation you have made some VERY poor life choices and deserve a life of poverty.

People need to be driven to increase their skills and experience to get better paying jobs, be that professional jobs, skilled trades, or simply working for tips at a restaurant that supports your lifestyle.

Further even if you increase minimum wage to whatever dream you want, people will still want to live above their means. I know a person who’s parents are both doctors, but because they’ve chosen to live in Manhattan they raised their family of five in a two bedroom apartment. That’s smart living, but what’s to keep those people to have the unnatural expectation that they can live in Manhattan on two doctors salaries in a four-bedroom townhouse?

What’s to keep a minimum wage worker from thinking the same? Doesn’t matter if minimum wage is $7.50, or $25 per hour, people always have the capacity to spend more than they make. Just look at the Hollywood celebrities who are in financial trouble!

Sorry, its culture that fixes this, not “Progressive” meddling and Daddy .Gov intervention that will fix this.

As a local Author and Talk Show Host often says: “I learned a lot from working as a dishwasher. The biggest thing is I didn’t want to live my life as a dish washer.”

So was a younger me who worked minimum wage as a landscaper, a deck hand on a tour boat, and even as a research intern. Hell the last two jobs lead me to make MORE than minimum. What’s up with these mythical people who are trying to support a family flipping burgers?

If you’re well into adulthood and you can only be trusted to work the pictogram covered cash register at the local grease pit, you’ve done some seriously stupid things in your life, and there is NO government handout that will fix you.

It will make it worse tho…

“Gun Death” Stabbing

Just a run-of-the-mill stabbing:

A man is behind bars after police say he stabbed a 26-year-old to death at a Loveland apartment building….Officers said the suspect and Sullivan knew each other but haven’t determined the nature of their relationship.

It’s not clear what led to the stabbing.

A 26 year old man is dead, and this is a non-story to the anti-rights cult who claim to be concerned about our safety. It wasn’t a “Gun Death” so it isn’t useful for their crusade to disarm lawful citizens.

Images of the “Progressives”: Global Warming

Man I’m disgusted by the religion of “Global Climate Change”…or whatever the Socialists in America want to call the Environmental reason to go full-fascist these days.

Ahh the ignorance of over-simplification. As a former (and frankly I’m still am by world view) field biologist, I’m all for being as gentle on the environment as possible. Still in absolute values that’s impossible. If we want to live in this world in modern conveniences we’re going to have an impact on the environment. Hell its not like all these calls for fascist seizing of private companies, regulation of industry, and pushing of “Green technology” does not come from the fairly environmentally neutral flyover country, but the big cities. You know, the ones that are constantly dealing with clean water, pollution, destruction of green spaces, and trans and sewage issues.

Further we have to look at all the “Green Jobs” and other “Green” initiatives. We have wind farms and solar farms that do massive alterations to their environments because they take up MASSIVE amounts of space and use harmful chemicals and elements to make their power sources, meanwhile they are heavily dependent on government subsidies because the energy they produce is so anemic and expensive they can’t survive in a true free-market system.

Also add in the huge amount of money dumped into companies like Solyndra The GM Volt and Tesla who have soaked up millions of tax monies but have yet to produce a publicly viable product.

Also we have things like the political press for Hybrid and Electric cars which are dubiously efficient and take most of their power from coal and other non-green energy sources, and employ tons of toxic metals that need to be mined for what is a net harm to the Environment.

Meanwhile little is said about the amazing crop of small commuter cars being produced by various auto makers that actually create very good gas mileage in cars that are very usable for American lifestyles.

All of this is placed on the blind faith that indeed the world is being destroyed by our interaction to it. Leading to the next set of images.

No citation on the study, or what exactly entails “pushing climate change denial”, I’m suspecting that if these numbers are accurate its different groups opposing fraudulent regulation as cited above.

Still where did the imaged used in that come from? Well NASA satellite data. How much money was dumped into this research? Of course we know government entities are encouraged through increased funding to agree with the zealots that indeed we are killing the world, even when that means outright fraud.

How much money was dumped into the Climate Research Cabal that conspired to push bogus science in order to get more and more grant money from a government hungry to push regulation?

Last up some rock-solid fear-mongering:

Oh no! The Earth as a cracked desert pavement! Is this true? Of course not, but we must have FAITH!!!! Climate Change as a doomsday is nothing but a cult!

Only one side of this argument cares about the environment, and the side lining their pockets are the religious fanatics pushing these propaganda images.

Images of the Antis: Twofer

So I’ve been spending the better part of the day baby-wrangling, and I realized I’ve fallen a bit behind looking at the images of the antis from the various (you know who) anti-freedom lobbyist pintrest pages.

First up is chock-full of anti-freedom foolishness:

OK Right off the bat, there is no citation of the “1 in 30 Would Be gun buyers on Armslist”, and I couldn’t find what they were talking about with a very quick Google search. If you’ve seen this citation please post it in the comments. I don’t see what they’re talking about, or even what this really means. I’m guessing its pure made-up nonsense, or “Criminal History” is defined as “Whatever we say it is”. Still the kicker is the comparison to the “Terror Watch List”. I talk about the fallacy of the watch list here extensivly, but the take away is that the past terror attacks in America after the inception of the “Watch List” were done by active terrorists NOT on the list, and the people who ARE on the list are NOT terrorists, or even a danger to anybody. So yeah, you could FILL that 747 with “Terrorists” as defined by the arbitrary and erroneous “Watch List”, and that jet would take off from the airport, and arrive on its destination without even a foolish “Drunken Disturbance” while en route.

Its just a foolish fear-mongering tactic that actually amounts to nothing but the loss of freedom to people who have done NOTHING and will do NOTHING. Hey but cling to that stupidity antis!

Next up is some prime psychological projection:

Yeah, the NRA is editing the constitution to push their agenda. So says the people who talk about “Collective” despite all 9 Supreme Court Justices, even the anti-rights “Progressive” ones citing that there is no such thing.

Further reading the dissent argument for Heller vs. DC you see the “Progressives” agreeing that the 2nd Amendment protects the right of the individual people of the United States to keep and bear arms…just they want to decide on arbitrary and illogical terms what arms can be kept, and where they can be carried.

Pure projection, as the “Progressives” are the ones who claim the Constitution is a “Living Document” subject to whatever arbitrary whim that strikes them at that moment, even when such whims are by nature unconstitutional per the drafting of the Bill of Rights.

“Gun Death” A Scary One

This is why you should always have a home defense gun:

Police have announced an arrest in the fatal stabbing of a retired Villanova professor in her Germantown apartment….She had been stabbed multiple times in her chest and neck area.

Police say Diaz, a sub-contractor, had access to the victim’s apartment on the day of the murder. No word on a motive.

This is also why I don’t give my key to workers. If I need to miss work to let people into my house, I’ll do that, and I’m ALWAYS armed when strangers are in my home.

Sadly this wasn’t a “Gun Death”.

Why Would You Need Magazines Holding More than 7?

New York’s SAFE act limits pistol magazines to a capacity of 7. Why would you need more? How about 400 reasons?

Hundreds of teenagers stormed and trashed a Brooklyn, N.Y., mall in a wild flash mob that forced the shopping center to close its doors during day-after Christmas sales, sources said on Friday.

More than 400 crazed teens grabbed and smashed jars of candy, stole cheap items such as baby balloons and beat up security guards at Kings Plaza Shopping Center in Mill Basin between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m., merchants said.

A violent game of “Knockout” also broke out on the upper level of the mall — and one teen may have been carrying a gun, sources said.

The teens used social media to plan the mass looting, vowing to put the mall “on tilt” – or to raid it, according to posts on Facebook and Twitter.

Clerks, who scrambled to close up their shops, said they were terrified.

The “Knockout Game” is frequently fatal, and certainly can be considered an activity of grave bodily harm. Is there any surprise they chose a Mall in Brooklyn where only uniformed police and security would have guns?

These “Flash Mobs” are a great protection for individuals committing horrible crimes, as there can only be so many police, and they can only arrest so many people. The bulk of these violent criminals would get away with it.

When patrons and proprietors are allowed to be armed the tables can be quickly turned in the favor of the lawful citizens. We saw what happened when a crazy man went rampage in Utah.

Guns save lives, and Gun Free Zones are a threat to EVERYBODY.
