Keep Track of Your Guns

This is just sad!

An East Texas mother has a warning for parents after finding her young son playing with a pistol he found in their rental car.

When Jaymie Bates and her son, Matthew, left Enterprise car rental in Longview, the farthest thing from her mind was Matthew getting his little hands on a pistol….According to the police report, the gun Matthew found wasn’t the only one left sitting in an Enterprise rental car that day. The manager told officers he found another gun in a different car on the lot….According to that report, the manager of the Longview Enterprise where this incident occurred called the people who had previously rented the cars the guns were found in. Both people advised the guns belonged to them and were mistakenly left behind. The guns will be kept by the Longview Police Department until the owners can be verified and come to claim the weapons.

Seriously? I know in Texas you don’t need a carry permit to pack a gun in your car…or a rental car. Still if you’re not going to holster the weapon, at least REMEMBER to take it with you when you turn your car in!

Quote of the Day: Useful Idiot

Say Uncle has a post about pundits either declaring victory for Obama, or the polls being skewed. His feelings are the same as many in my circle of friends. I we all really find it hard to get into this election because both Romney and Obama are totally horrible candidates, and I for one certainly don’t care who wins. Actually assuming Gary Johnson doesn’t win (which is like saying “Assuming Water is Wet!”) I’m kinda hoping for a narrow Obama victory…bonus points for hanging chads, and software problems with electronic ballot machines. Why? Well because I see the Democrats being a party taken over by the Marxist “Progressives”, and while the GOP is chock-full of Daddy-State turds like Romney and McCain, there are a ton of young faces that seem to be getting the idea that people can live their lives how they want, and can do it better with less government and taxes. Maybe its wishful thinking, but I think President Romney will just kick that eventual small-L libertarian take-over of the GOP down the road a few more years. Also Romney is a man of action, and Obama is a Man of Leisure. I personally think Obama after his victory will fly off to some place tropical, and only venture into the country long enough to make a speech about how nice his poop smells.

Still this leads to this guy. Don’t know him from Adam, so he might just be some troll still:

I have to say, after reading some of these comments, some of you people need your damn guns taken away.

No seriously, you have an party stating that they want to bring back the AWB, need more taxes and more spending (btw “taxing the rich” is how California got a state income tax) and you are “undecieded” or “not excited”. When a party says as clear as day that they want your guns, all i read from your comment is…. I’m a fucking idiot for even considering the democrats.

I think you should vote for Obama, maybe when he drives us into an Argentinean collapse you “undecideds” will just become “unexisting”

He goes on in another comment about how he predicted the housing collapse before his happened. Yeah he’s the smartest guy in the room! Yeah we need to have our guns taken away!

BTW did you see my go-to rifle?

Hmmm, Flat muzzle, fixed stock, no Bayonet lug, and pre-ban magazines? Why its almost like the ’94 AWB is still here. AM I LIVING IN THE PAST?

No, I’m living in Romney’s Massachusetts. Now I don’t think this idiot should have HIS guns taken away. I live under this shit, and don’t wish it on anybody.

Still I do think he needs to be told to his smug face that he’s an idiot a LOT more.

Idiot!

Asia The Strange

So I guess this video is the new Hawtness on the intertubes.

Pretty nuts, really! I’m amused. The music is pretty basic, but at least the Korean version of Rap isn’t some dork pretending to be a drug dealing and rapping lyrics that consist of A) His Stage Name, and B) The N-Bomb, and C) Repeat.

Still if this is a competition I still think Japan wins with odd videos.

“Gun Death” Buried in Sand

From California where gun control is extreme.

A 20-year-old exchange student from Korea died after he lay down in a 6-foot-deep sandpit he and some fellow students had dug on a Southern California beach and it collapsed on him.

The Oxnard Fire Department said in a statement that students from Masters College had dug the pit while spending the day at Oxnard Beach Park on Wednesday and the man became buried after climbing into it.

Firefighters arrived and immediately began digging with tools and hands, but it took 15 minutes to free him.

CPR was performed on the man as he was taken to Ventura County Medical Center, but he was declared dead at the hospital.

California seems to justify their anti-freedom endeavors by using the “Gun Death” metric. Of course this metric ignores cases like this, and many others. Can it be ANYTHING but blatant dishonesty?

Discussions of the “Gun Death?” Files Project

Been a busy weekend, but I took a little time to refill the “Gun Death?” magazine as it ran dry with this morning’s post.

Was talking about a few of the upcoming stories that I’m particularly impressed with, and she started asking me about the project overall. Some of the discussion points are things you should all know, like the other aggregate projects done by various bloggers to create large lists used to give real-world stories to sterile, and sometimes nebulous hard statistical data.

Again I need to thank all who help me with this project, as it wouldn’t be possible without your help! Also remember, the “Gun Death?” Files are a TOOL, not just blog fodder. Be sure to drop a link to the archive anytime you see somebody using the made-up and irrelevant metric of “Gun Death” in attempts to sway a debate, the #1 reason for this project is to take that term away from the antis around the world, and it won’t happen with just my voice alone.

So let’s pop the hood on this great engine a little. First I’ll point out to date there have been over 850 entries in this category! Some don’t actually contain death, but injuries, but many contain multiple murders, as well as massive accidents.

I didn’t want this blog to become the “Gun Death” Blog, so posts are often done one a day, set up in a syndication. I generally just tuck down for an hour and crank out a week or two of posts at a time, and set them to fire off consecutively at 0500 every morning (with a few exceptions). I first started the category with this post on June 23 back in 2010. I did go back and add the category to a few post, and this one is the oldest post to bear the “Gun Death?” tag.

Also I was amused to find that it didn’t take long for me to get a massive influx of “Gun Death” stories from readers. Today if you send me a “Gun Death?” Story you might have to wait a few weeks to a month before it shows up on the blog. I can’t remember the last time I didn’t have a few stories waiting in my mailbox to be committed to a post. Also I can’t remember the last time I went searching for stories to fill out the magazine. Sure I still hear a story in the news and write it up, but I haven’t gone looking for them myself in ages, thanks to all the reader submissions. In the early days I was simply trolling Google News with some basic search terms…I was actually disturbed how easy it was to get a LOT of usable stories that way. Non-“Gun Death” is really common, so carry your damn gun, because the other guy doesn’t NEED a gun to kill your ass!

So yeah, thanks again, and keep them coming. This project has been an AMAZING success!

Lee Dorin Covers the Arab Riots

Really as this unfolds this is really a big deal.

I think the biggest deal of this whole event is Obama’s disinterest in security on US Embassies and Consulates, and his framing of an innocent American citizen for these attacks.

People say Obama isn’t anti-gun because he hasn’t banned guns…yet. But President IS Anti-Freedom, and against the US Bill of Rights, and we know that those people aren’t limited in their attacks against individual Liberty.

News Roundup video here.

BTW another take-away of this is Obama’s talk of “Investigation” after the attacks. This is the same type of “Investigation” the administration has had on Fast and Furious, and that has “Cleared” Eric Holder from any wrongdoing.

Also the Onion again nails it with their little riff on the 2001 Terrorist attacks, and government incompetence

“Gun Death” Bridge

This is a bad one

A New Jersey man accused of throwing his 3-month-old daughter off a bridge repeatedly confessed to investigators, prosecutors said in opening statements Wednesday of the father’s murder trial.

Shamsid-Din Abdur-Raheem’s own words will help show he’s guilty of murder, the prosecution said. But defense lawyers told reporters they will prove reasonable doubt, The Star-Ledger reported….Prosecutors claim Abdur-Raheem abducted the baby from her grandmother’s East Orange apartment in February 2010, assaulting the woman and hitting her with his van. They say he then parked on the Driscoll Bridge on the Garden State Parkway and threw or dropped the baby into the Raritan River.

Look at all this violence. Murder by throwing a baby off a bridge, assault, possibly attempted murder with a van, and of course kidnapping. This is a violent dangerous man…but a violent dangerous man without a gun, so no “Gun Death”….

.22 Plinkster’s Ammo Choice

Interesting that he uses very affordable ammo for his AMAZING trick shots!

I generally just use the American Eagle red brick ammo because that’s the stuff that both works in all my guns, and my local shops carry it.

I’ll have to keep my eyes peeled for the Federal Champion stuff!

TSA, Keeping Us Safe

Can we Disband the TSA now?

At less than six inches and just under 10 ounces, the Ruger .380 is considered by gun owners to be a great little pocket pistol.

So small, in fact, that you can sometimes get one onto an airplane.

D’oh!

Yep, the New York Daily News reports that a woman flew 938 miles from Orlando, Fla., to Newark, N.J., on Thursday with a loaded .380 in her purse. United flight 15 was airborne before she realized what she’d done—and airport screeners had missed. How the Daily News said it unfolded:

She didn’t tell anyone on the plane about the weapon during the flight, which left Florida at 8:19 a.m.

But when she landed at Newark Airport at 10:24, she immediately told a Port Authority police officer.

Yep, they demand we remove our shoes, accept doses of harmful radiation, and touch our private parts, but the TSA can’t catch a lawful citizen with a pocket gun, let alone a dangerous terrorist!

Can we stop paying these goons and make flying pleasant? I mean its not like we’re any safer with them!
