Chess Game

I’ve said I’ll be voting for Ms. Warren this fall, not because I like her much but because Scott Brown doesn’t deserve that seat, and frankly from a voting standpoint I fail to see how I’d tell the difference between this “Teaparty Conservative” Army Officer who drives a pickup truck, and this Oklahoma-Born Harvard Professor, Limousine Liberal.

Still I was Hesitant to watch the video because when you choose to vote for a Wolf over a Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing, its ill advised to spend too much time at the zoo petting the wolf, any more than a chess player should dwell on the power of the bishop he placed in harm’s way with intent to expose the opposing queen.

Well I enjoyed the video, it was a softball interview, and Ms. Warren came across as meek, and stupid. If anybody can be beat by a better candidate it’s this fool.

*sigh* why do these assholes make me do such things?

Old Video

But new to me.

Ted’s the kind of guy who doesn’t get much mileage on old-fashioned diplomacy. He right up and calls all gun control stupid and oppressive. Also note his justification: TOO MANY VICTIMS!

Yep

Do more than just light a candle!

“Gun Death” For Joan

Candles for Victims.

A 20-year-old Texas City woman who pleaded guilty to stabbing and beating her blind grandmother to death with a candlestick holder could face life in prison

Too many Victims! BTW if we were to light a candle for this dead woman, how respectful would it look?

“Gun Death” Witchhunt

From the land of low “Gun Death” none-the-less.

A 15-year-old boy who died from “unspeakable savagery and brutality” was attacked by relatives who believed he was a sorcerer involved in witchcraft, a London court heard Thursday.

The victim, Kristy Bamu, was found drowned with 101 different injuries on Christmas Day 2010 in a flat in Newham, east London.

Good thing those Limeys banned guns and created an oppressive police state! Those things work AWESOME!

A Solution to the Problem

One of the Home invaders of the Petit family has been sentenced to death.

A U.S. man was sentenced Friday to die for killing a woman and her two daughters during a night of terror in their suburban home, a crime that halted momentum to abolish the death penalty in the state of Connecticut.

For those who don’t remember this crime.

Hayes was convicted in 2010 of raping and strangling Hawke-Petit and killing the girls. The girls were tied to their beds and doused in gasoline before the house was set ablaze; they died of smoke inhalation. Komisarjevsky was convicted of the killings and of sexually assaulting Michaela.

Of Course not all is bright.

Komisarjevsky joins accomplice Steven Hayes and nine other men on Connecticut’s death row. The state’s last execution in 2005 was the first since 1960, and Komisarjevsky will likely spend years, if not decades, in prison.

For those of us not intimately involved in the case this is a vague memory, 20 years from only the family will remember the case, and news junkies like myself will say “Oh yeah, I remember that horrible crime….” when we hear the headline of him being executed, or maybe dying of natural causes on death row.

There is no deterrent effect, nor justice in people spending that much time on Death Row…and 20 years from now appeals will be History lessons, not prompt trials.

Its a shame its such a farce.

Angry Riot Scheduled !

I’m sure the Kill the Jews Movement will be calling for re-enforcements this weekend.

U.S. Park Police are warning occupy protesters that they must stop camping at two Washington parks on Monday or risk arrest.

The National Park Service is distributing fliers to protesters Friday at McPherson Square on K Street and at Freedom Plaza on Pennsylvania Avenue. The notice says protesters must comply with regulations that prohibit camping at those sites by noon on Monday.

They’re going to have to clear the park and gather up all the detritus to do this…you know there will be rocks and bottles, and possibly weapons concealed in camps wielded against officers.

Just watch, DC at noon is NOT the place you’ll want to be this Monday.

Glad She’s on Our Side

John over at No Lawyers only Guns and Money found this great video of Emily Miller

That is how you conduct an interview! I especially liked how she deflected the “Common Sense” law part with pointing out that all the other states don’t seem to have a problem with this.

A lot of laws sound great, but they either do nothing to stop the problem they proclaim, or are addressing a problem that doesn’t exist. Gun control laws span both.

I tell people, back when I lived in Maine I liked guns, and thought it was nice to roll back stupid laws…Buying my first gun in Massachusetts turned me into an activist. Seems Emily has the same bee in her bonnet. I’m glad we have sharp ladies like her!

On Shotguns

Borepatch confesses he’s not in love with shotguns. He obviously thinks there’s some shame in that, so I thought I’d pitch in.

Me neither. Compared to rifles shotguns are heavy, kick more, and hold less ammo. As for ballistics I’m also not floored with them, and because of the weight of the payload and the fact that most shotguns use fast-burning powder more frequently found in pistols rather than rifles their recoil is PUNISHING with full-power loads.

As a new shooter I was lucky enough to know somebody who owned a Weatherby Rifle in .460 Weatherby Magnum, now this is one of the more powerful of the African Dangerous Game loads, and the Rifle was a safari gun, not a bench gun so while not feather-light, it wasn’t a gun you wouldn’t be able to lug across the veldt of Africa. It kicked, and was a challenge to shoot…but that rifle paled in comparison to a simple Winchester 12 Gage loaded with #00 Buckshot. Think about that for a second, the .460 a skilled hunter can kill an African Bull Elephant weighing in at maybe 8 tons at over 200 yards with a single shot….meanwhile that 12 Gauge #00 buck is typically deployed against white-tailed deer weighing in generally under 175lbs at ranges inside of 50 yards. Heck Zercool has hunted turkey with an 870 Magnum shooting 3.5″ shells holding 2oz of turkey shot, and that gun is downright unpleasant to shoot, and he’s using that against fucking BIRDS.

Meanwhile my FAL weighs about the same as my Mossberg 590 Trench gun, holds 20 rounds to the Mossy’s 8 (which is in a “High-capacity” extended magazine), and I can land shots on a man-sized silhouette at 100 yards offhand without really trying and using cheap steel-cased factory practice ammo. Also while skilled shotgunners can top off their magazines scary fast with practice, I can stuff a fresh box of 20 into my FAL at an unimpressive speed before they’ve managed to stuff 8 new shells into their tube.

As I said over at Borepatch’s place Overall If I’m in need, I’ll be reaching for a handgun to fight to my rifle, and if I ever need to leave my home in times of extreme danger I’ll grab my archaic SKS rifle before I bother to cart the Scatter-gun around.

Now that’s not to say that shotguns suck. Logistically they’re pretty awesome as in situations where an angry mob or home invaders needs to be fired upon, chances are they won’t be wearing body armor (even soft body armor rated for pistol shot will generally defeat buckshot) and they won’t be sticking around for you to run your tube dry, let alone wait for you to reload, and a solid hit with #00 buck generally is seen as one of the best one-shot-stoppers out there.

Still I just think a rifle runs better, so I’ll be sticking with that.

Yes He Called You That

So I guess Virginia is well on its way to scrapping one-gun-a-month.

he vote on Senate Bill 323, sponsored by Sen. Charles W. Carrico Sr., R-Grayson, was 8-6, with Sen. John S. Edwards, D-Roanoke, voting for passage with seven Republicans. Sen. Thomas K. Norment, Jr., R-James City, who was not present at the time of the vote, was recorded as abstaining. The vote came during a marathon five-hour meeting in which lawmakers took up a series of gun bills.

The repeal measure has strong support in the Republican-dominated House of Delegates, and Gov. Bob McDonnell has indicated he is inclined to sign the bill.

Awesome. Still my jaw dropped when I read this:

“The only group that this law currently prohibits is gun traffickers,” said gun-control advocate Andrew Goddard, father of Virginia Tech shooting survivor Colin Goddard. “Getting rid of the only law we have on the books … is not going to make that problem go away.”

Josh Horwitz of the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence said the concern was not the purchaser of a couple of handguns during a month, but the “huge, bulk, multiple sales” of guns.

Have you ever bought more than one handgun inside of a month? I sure have. That makes you a “Gun Trafficker” because Virginia’s stupid handgun law would make you a Criminal, and if it only effects gun traffickers. Mr. Goddard is the type of person only anti-gunners would want to associate with.

Also note the shaky ground Josh Horwitz is on pointing out that if you buy two or three guns inside of a month you really aren’t the problem they’re talking about…but you should still be charged with a crime.

BTW when have we heard Mr. Horwitz or Mr. Goddard speak out against Fast and Furious where our government was working directly with the Mexican Drug Cartels selling bulk purchases of firearms to known criminals using US Tax dollars?

Yeah, I’m so happy to see your horrible laws being trashed!

“Gun Death” Bum Fight

This is an extreme bum fight

Authorities say a 53-year-old homeless man was decapitated by another homeless man during what they believe started as a fight over food…According to witnesses, Leer jumped Webber and chopped at his head with a machete.
Leer has been charged with second-degree murder. Jail records do not list an attorney for Leer.

The simple yard implement the Machete has been a known weapon of war, genocide and other violent crimes that are not “Gun Death”. Also they’re so simple they can be built by hand out of simple raw materials that can be found anywhere.
