Why We Need Reciprocity

Hop over to Mike’s and see this picture

State lines aren’t some magical force-field. Heck most of the time they aren’t even clearly marked, and given that we don’t live in a soviet state, there’s nobody checking your papers at the border, so there are times when if a state boundary IS significant some silliness can be had. Like when I was younger my folks and I would hike the same mountain every year. The Mountain was in Maine, we lived in Maine. To get to the mountain we needed to drive into New Hampshire..then back into Maine…then back into New Hampshire…then back into Maine again. The road slithered like a snake across the boarders of the two states. There were road signs spaced about a quarter mile apart for our sheer amusement.

Still if Dad had a permit to carry in Maine, suddenly he would be committing a felony…even if he was open carrying which is legal in both Maine, and New Hampshire, because both Maine and New Hampshire both define carrying in the car as “Concealed”.

Now can you tell me what’s different on one side of the line vs. the other? Its not distinctive, nor do any rules of self-defense apply. Hell you can STAND in one state, and shoot people in the next, so its not even like the laws are protecting anybody (not that people who bother with permits suddenly don’t get concerned when it comes to Murder vs. Justifiable force).

Mike is safe to carry any way he wishes on one side of the line, but not on the other. There are lots of lines like this for anybody who carries a firearm, and the more you think about them, the less they make sense.

So erase the lines.

Glad We Have To Sign for Sinus Meds…

Found this story.

A woman has been arrested for attempting to make methamphetamine inside a Walmart store using chemicals she was “too broke to buy”….”She didn’t have the money to make the purchases of the chemicals that were needed so she was taking what was needed in the bottle,” Officer David Shelby told Fox 23.

The only injury was to an officer who received minor injuries when the chemicals in the bottle burned his hand.

Halfmoon was arrested last month in a meth-manufacturing sting. She was released just two days before her Walmart arrest.

So no word in the story if she had all the right stuff for meth in her little caustic bottle, but still, isn’t it nice that we have to go through all this bullshit to buy sinus medication to STOP people from making meth, and I suspect she was using this method which is all sorts of reacting chemicals cooking in a sealed bottle, which runs a high risk of a dangerous explosion…think about that in a Wal Mart!

Also I must throw the “Bad Justice” tag in there, because she had JUST got out of jail for making meth. Good job, revolving door system!

Can we just call the War on Drugs a defeat and move on with our lives? These creeps will always be able to cook and acquire this shit. I’ll just say we don’t see the massive deaths from drinking bad bathtub gin, or attempting to strain sterno that you saw in Prohibition ages. You also don’t see the organized crime rings, and gang violence over the distribution of booze.

You think legalizing drugs will cause problems? Well look at the problems we HAVE!

“Gun Death” Hay Baler

Of course accidents also count in “Gun Deaths”. There are things vastly more dangerous than guns in that regard.

A farm worker died from severe crushing and compression asphyxia after he became trapped in a baler at a farm near Mossburn.

Daryl David Rolton, 58, of Edendale, died after he became trapped in the baler and was crushed at a Centre Hill Rd farm between Mossburn and Te Anau in March.

Brutal. And a shame. But it wasn’t a gun. Odd that people who use the metric of “Gun Death” want to restrict guns when somebody is accidentally killed or injured by a firearm…but they never seem to care about things like cars or hay balers when they kill…

Desperation

A few other people have been talking about this proposed bill.

A Milwaukee lawmaker is proposing to make gas stations off-limits to Wisconsin residents carrying concealed weapons, even if they have a permit.

The bill’s sponsor, Rep. Josh Zepnick, told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that many station owners, employees and customers are among his constituents and have been victims of violent crime.

First up it shows the typical stupidity of the anti-freedom types. They always feel the need to conflate lawful gun owners with criminals. When Wisconsin opened the doors to people seeking carry permits, drug dealers, and gang soldiers weren’t among the ranks. Same goes to say that the thugs robbing gas stations are NOT lawful gun owners, and will NOT bother with getting a carry permit, and therefor won’t care. Miguel points out that this minor law won’t deter people who are setting out to commit a major violent felony like robbery, assault, or murder.

Of course this also adds the added danger to public safety which is lawfully armed people disarming in a relatively unsecured place like a car. This runs a risk of the gun discharging, and cars are an easy target for theft…especially at gas stations.

But there’s a bigger issue here. The loser who drafted this idiotic law admits it isn’t going anywhere. Still all the anti-rights channels are linking this story and sending praise for this fool and his fool’s errand.

This is how desperate they are. Of course there’s huge talk of National Conceal Carry Reciprocity, but that’s because it very well may pass the Senate, and I give it a 50/50 on the President signing it into law. But this is one of those perennial laws that has been submitted constantly for decades now. Nobody said peep about it back in the 90s because the bill was DOA…just the same as when various idiots present a bill to remove the Electoral College, or remove the term limits on the Presidency.

Still they talk about this bill because its all they have left. They are losing everywhere at such a rate that they no longer know what victory looks like.

99% or 1%

Does this shit come to any surprise to you?

Members of Occupy Boston — the social movement founded on demands for fiscal accountability — were divided yesterday on whether they should surrender any of their $60,000 in donations to cover the hefty costs of restoring the muddied Rose Kennedy Greenway where they built their tent city.

But they were united in saying there’s no way they’d contribute some of their tens of thousands of dollars in donated funds to defray police overtime costs.

Occupy Boston member Shane Aspinall, who is part of the group’s money-management team, said the group absolutely should pay to restore, to its pre-occupation grandeur, the Atlantic Avenue park where they squatted for months.

I’m not holding my breath that they WILL pay to clean up and repair damages…that being said this was an illegal occupation of public land. Now I don’t agree with the bullshit where one needs a permit to peacefully protest. (Not that this rabble is peaceful in any sense of the word) but squatting public land is an illegal act, and I have to agree with that. If we’re going to have public land (and in an urban environment that’s just a reality) then it simply can’t be squatted.

Of course the money they have in their accounts won’t pay for a tenth of the damage as well as the resources squandered. Bah!

The War on Christmas, but Serious

Interesting story here

North Korea warned South Korea on Sunday of “unexpected consequences” if Seoul displays Christmas lights near the tense border, and vowed to retaliate for what it called “psychological warfare.”…The two Koreas in 2004 reached a deal to halt official-level cross-border propaganda and the South stopped its annual Christmas illumination ceremony.

But Seoul resumed the ceremony last December amid high military tensions with Pyongyang.

Cross-border ties have been icy since the South accused the North of torpedoing its warship with the loss of 46 lives in March 2010.

Things are getting hot over there…kinda trivializes this:

How’s That Gun Control Working Out For You?

So here’s a story of a nut going on a random shooting spree that appears to be a “Suicide by Cop”

A gunman who fired at cars and shouted “kill me” and “I’m gonna die!” was shot to death Friday by police after wounding a driver in the heart of Hollywood, authorities and a witness reported.

Well he got his wish. Odd that such a crime happened in Brady #1 ranked California. I thought that #1 ranking meant such things like this weren’t going to happen.

Dave Pepper told KCAL-TV that he was in his car when the gunman attacked him.
“This guy came running across the street and he put the gun right up to this window,” Pepper said as he sat in the car. “Why he didn’t pull the trigger I don’t know … I thought maybe he was out of bullets.”

People ask “Why do you carry a gun?” Because when the psycho with a gun is bearing down on me, I’ll have something more entertaining and productive to do than kissing my ass goodby.

BTW out of bullets or not, the guy also had a knife and click here if you want to see how badly THAT can go down
. The victim in this story are the disarmed Californians. By the way by “Disarmed” I don’t just mean by the fact that Los Angeles County is essentially “No issue” when it comes to carry permits, but that I doubt many of the people threatened or harmed in this story will even THINK that maybe having their own gun would be better than waiting for the police to shoot the bastard.

Carry your damn guns.

Morning Inside Joke

I had this gag rolling around in my head for a little while. But I really didn’t want to attempt it as image editing isn’t my forte, even something so simple.

So buddy Sci-Fi who was still taking his victory lap for this level of genius (Go here if you don’t get it)

He created my idea in full glory.

Ya get it? I LOL’d! Thanks Sci-fi

“Gun Death” Broom Handle

Wow, I read this headline and was surprised when reading the story.

Man Arrested For Allegedly Killing Grandmother With Broom Handle…KTLA reported that the woman was killed with a broken broom handle. It said the suspect was aged 42.

Naturally when I think of a broom handle, there are a multitude of uses for it, I’ve actually got several handles without brooms to be attached to other tools, or simply to use as a pry bar or as a mixing bar. If I was to think of it as a weapon I would think of a bludgeoning instrument. Instead he broke it and used it as a stabbing implement.

At least he didn’t use a gun, right?
