“Gun Death” Jackson PD

This is a tandem post with Barron as both a “Gun Death?” and a “State Sponsored Criminal”

Asst. Chief Lee Vance with the Jackson Police Department said, “The baby died of injuries that were described as blunt force trauma to the abdomen area. Certainly from what I know right now, the baby was in the sole care of Detective Gray.”

Police are often touted by those who use the metric of “Gun Death” as the only ones responsible enough to carry guns. Even unarmed they can still be monsters despite all the safeguards.

Makes Perfect Sense

I carry a gun because I’m taking my personal security into my own hands. If you prohibit me from carrying a firearm you are saying you will take my security into your own hands, and I will not NEED my firearm.

I think under than if I am attacked, harmed, or injured in a “Gun Free Zone” and I can make a reasonable claim that if I had been armed I could have protected myself from harm, then the person or entity that banned weapons in the establishment is responsible for my injury.

Frankly I think everybody killed or injured in Fort Hood should have sued for damages as everybody harmed was trained and proficient in stopping an attack like that.

Also a single jihadi with an underpowered pistol was not much of a threat against a fully staffed army base…except when the army is disarmed it was.

Interesting

So Joan Peterson of the Joyce Foundation and the Brady Campaign linked this article by Time. Go read the whole thing as its interesting. But the overall message is studies show that if a person is given a choice to kill a person to save 5 others they would choose to do that.

It ties well into the gun debate because that is a potential situation when you keep and bear arms. You might be in a situation where somebody or many somebodies could be killed unless you kill the aggressor.

I would go a step further, I see nothing morally wrong with shooting a person committing a violent crime that risks an innocent life. Its something I’d rather NOT do, but if the choice is shoot somebody doing something horrible and morally wrong or allow them to seriously harm or kill another person (we won’t even factor in multiple people) I would question anybody who would make any choice but to kill the aggressor.

And of course there’s factoring in, say somebody willing to rob you with deadly force. They may kill you even if you comply, and do you think this will be their last armed robbery?

So even a single-victim event could still spare the lives of many more people down the road.

And now to the messenger, Ms. Joan Peterson, who would like to make sure we don’t have that choice and the innocent people die.

These are not good people.

Another Great Big Sea

Because they’re awesome, and this song is my favorite:

There is something about a concertina that is just integral with going to sea. I can’t hear one being played without getting a whiff of salt air in my nose and feel the deck roll a bit.

Anti-Freedom, not Anti-Gun

Is there any doubt?

Yesterday the Boston Public Health Commission voted to ban the use of electronic cigarettes in workplaces, including outdoor areas such as restaurant patios. It says it is simply “clos[ing] a loophole” by “treat[ing] e-cigarettes like tobacco products.” But since e-cigarettes do not contain any tobacco and do not generate smoke (merely a propylene glycol vapor containing nicotine), that is a puzzling way to characterize the decision.

The harms of smoking are almost exclusively from inhaling smoke. Nicotine, in the levels ingested by smokers is essentially harmless, you are doing the same harm smoking a corn-cob pipe filled with corn silk like Huck Fin and Tom Sawyer used to do as you are puffing on a a fine cigarette.

The electronic cigarettes (as do the gums, lozenges and other nicotine replacement products) essentially eliminate any of the harmful side-effects of smoking besides becoming dependent on nicotine.

It also eliminates the somewhat dubious hazard of second-hand smoke. Still Boston has decided to treat electronic cigarets exactly the same way as they do traditional cigarettes because they have decided that smokers are one of those groups of people they CAN punish, so they will continue to punish them even when they make a responsible choice that effects nobody but themselves.

And note this is a city ordinance, so if you own your own business and think this is all bullshit, and you let your employees engage in individual liberty the city can send men with guns.

No coincidence these are the same people who restrict guns and knives. They are anti-freedom, and they will fight it however they can.

“Gun Death” Again with Mom’s Boyfriend

Scary how many stories like this pop up.

A 5-month-old boy in west-central Minnesota suffered fatal injuries at his home, prompting the arrest of a 30-year-old man who was baby-sitting the child, authorities in Otter Tail County said Monday…The suspect, the boyfriend of the baby’s mother, is being held on suspicion of manslaughter and assault

I’m not even going to attempt to wrap my mind around this mess. I will point out that this was not a “Gun Death” to all who are heartless enough to be comforted by such things.

What in it is Sexual?

Really? It’s come to this?

A 7-year-old boy is being investigated by his South Boston elementary school for possible sexual harassment after kicking another boy in the crotch.

When guys grow up we all sign on to the unwritten rule that you don’t hit another dude in the balls unless you have a VERY good reason.

Still while boys are young rough-housing can be VERY rough, and I don’t think there’s a man alive who hasn’t felt a good solid hits on their junk. The ladies seemed to be even worse in my memory.

This is no more “Sexual” than getting slugged in the solar plexus.

People can be so stupid!

Know Nothings

I’m always amused that when anti-gun people tell us what is “Common Sense” and “reasonable”…and it turns out said people don’t even know what end of the gun the bullets come out of.

Maybe that’s why they think a folding stock is such a big deal, they think bullets come out of it.

I can’t believe the guns I own and carry are dictated by these pile of ignorant morons.

What’s worse is they are ignorant BY CHOICE!
