Life is for the Living

Got home from work and the weather was about perfect. 80 degrees, low humidity with a gentle breeze. So I took a walk around the lake, and stopped by the local smoke shop. Grabbed a nice cigar (Hoyo de Monterey Excalibur), and when I got home I mixed up a nice Martini (Home-made pepper vodka and blue cheese Olives) and now I’m enjoying a smoke and a martini in my Adarondak Chair “Old Tetanus”, listing to the radio, and reading web pages on my phone.

Not a cloud in the sky! This is the life!

BTW, Jay decided to take the family for a tour of Massachusetts Bay!

Well played, Buddy! Could not have picked a better day! I’ve spent some shitty-assed days on Massachusetts Bay, and today is not one of those days!

Morning Listening

Just did a long slog in the lab, and generally I just tuck the head down, crank a few podcasts, and git-r-done.

First I must say, even if you aren’t into podcasts, or Michael Bane, PLEASE listen to his latest podcast, his discussion about the Norway shooting, and humanity in general is just amazing. Also if you’re too lazy or unable to listen his take-away is *paraphrased* “If you don’t have a carry permit get one. If you live in an area that is hostile to gun ownership, give it a try, you might be surprised. When you get your carry permit carry EVERY DAY.” He talks about the Norway shooting, he also mentions several other massacres that happened in “Gun Free Zones” (quotes because frankly how “gun free” can they be when a psycho is shooting you?). CARRY YOUR DAMN GUNS! and FIGHT BACK! With Mumbai, Norway, and Ft. Hood there is a good chance we’ll be seeing more of these type attacks. Carry your damn gun! Make the terrorists pick a different place. We can’t protect the whole world, and as little ill-will I wish, I’d rather the Next shooting be in Canada or England, than my own backyard. And if the bad people DO pick your backyard, make it the dumbest decision they ever made. Note the Norway shooter didn’t even go out with a blaze of Glory, he simply gave up when men with guns arrived.

The other Podcast I devoured was much lighter fare. JP over at Empty Mags has a great podcast up where he talks about .22 training guns, shit you stick in your range bag (FYI a squib rod to clear a barrel is a VERY good idea, one squib can totally end a range session unless you can hammer it out, and you’ll need a properly sized brass or wooden rod to do that), and a little basic chatter on reloading. Another good one JP!

Morning LOL

From Waldo:

I have no idea what the George C. Scott Film is, but it speaks to me. LOVE the early Adam Sandler Films. Also I’m a HUGE fan of Spanglish, but somewhere around Big Daddy Sandler appeared to be working in cost-saving measures to his film. The big thing was cutting humor out of his Comedies.

I’m kinda done with him. Tho if he wants to make a few more serious films I’ll give them the college try!

“Gun Death” Chair

Both a “Gun Death?” and a Dead Goblin. Story here:

An intruder who was bludgeoned to death by a chair-wielding Raleigh Court apartment resident last weekend was identified Thursday as Jose Elias Castro Ramos, 27, of Roanoke…No charges have been filed at this time,” police spokeswoman Aisha Johnson said Thursday.

If somebody breaks into your home and you kill them, I A) Won’t really get all that upset, and B) won’t really mind what you chose as your weapon. In this case a Chair was what did the trick.

Neat story

h/t Jake

Quote of the Day: LOL

So Robin is a pro gun person who isn’t frustrated by Brady Board Member and Joyce Puppet Joan Peterson’s arbitrary comment moderation. Check out this exchange.

The second reason is this firearm is because the Glock, constructed entirely of porcelain, is capable of passing through airport metal detectors completely unnoticed. The only downside to this amazing weapon is the price, which is quite expensive.

Why would Robin say such a thing? Check out Joan’s Response:

This should not be reassuring to anyone, Robin. Do you think that’s a good idea?

Joanie, you’ve been trolled, hon. Oh she’s also dropping this wad of bullshit:

What do you call those features then? What do you say when someone can make a semi-automatic into an automatic gun and mow down 68 people in one span of 2 hours? I call that a dangerous gun because of the ability to change it into a weapon of war.

Yeah converting guns from semi-auto to full-auto is WICKED easy. it takes a talented gunsmith with a quality machine shop. You know, the kind of shop that can also take a block of steel and convert it to a full-auto rifle.

Close the block-of-steel loophole!!!!

Cool Video

I met Nick Leghorn at the NRA Convention, and he’s a really nice and talented guy. Sadly he works for an anti-gun false flag no-talent Troll.

I make it a point not to link the blog Mr. Leghorn posts from, and generally read it only to see if his boss has decided to plagiarize some of my intellectual property as he is wont to do from other bloggers.

I don’t link his blog because I care about gun rights, the shooting sports, and the 2nd Amendment.

Still this video is too cool not to link. You can click on it to follow it back to the troll’s den, if that’s your prerogative.

I LOVE suppressors. If they weren’t illegal in Mass they would be an NFA Item I’d be willing to pay the bullshit $200 tax on.

Of course I don’t think there even should be an NFA…

Can You Hear Me S&W?

So I was talking to buddy Waldo about guns and such, and my love of .22 revolvers, and my overall lackluster of .22 auto-loaders came up.

I was mentioning that since the 10-shot 617 is based off of the L Frame, that contains the 7-shot 686 Revolver. I was curious how many holes they could put in the wheel of the N Frame that has the 8-shot 627. Then I mumbled something about the X-Frame. Waldo Came back:

X frame .22, huh? They could one up Ruger, put twenty chambers in it, and call it the Double Deuce.

Is that not a solid gold idea or what? S&W can you hear me? If you can, all I ask is a 4″ Double-deuce with a fiber optic front sight for myself, and one for Waldo!

I’ll close with the proverbial 1,000 words!

Armed Gays Don’t Get Bashed

Heard about this story while listening to the latest Savage Lovecast.

The report, released Tuesday, showed a 13% increase over 2009 in violent crimes committed against people because of their perceived or actual sexual orientation, gender identity or status as HIV positive, according to the National Coalition of Anti-Violence Programs.

Last year’s homicide count reached 27, up from 22 in 2009, and was the second-highest total since the coalition began tracking such crimes in 1996. Of those killed, 70% were minorities and 44% were transgender women.

This is a big deal! If you are LGBT you need to take your safety seriously. Take some personal defense classes! Get your carry permit. If you live in one of those super-friendly LGBT areas where buying and carrying a gun is a flaming pain in the ass (no pun intended…OK maybe a little pun) you need to think about how you got there.

Yeah the Republicans had a LOT of prominent members who are making homophobia and being discriminatory to LGBT people as some sort of bigoted feather in their hat.

But come on, what have the Democrats done for you?

Take your safety seriously, Join the Pink Pistols, remember it could happen to you.
