“Gun Death” Bring a Gun

AuricTech brings us this tale of why we DON’T want a gun-free world.

When resident Jack Crawford, 72, answered the door, one of the teens hit him in the head with an aluminum bat and tried to force his way into the home.

“I opened it up, and he hit me right off… Wham! Split my head open,” Crawford said.

“So I shot him and another guy,” Crawford said, chuckling as he told the story to a News Journal reporter Sunday evening. “I could have shot the third one, but I would have had to shoot him in the back as he ran away.”

I’m guessing if he didn’t have a gun, and wasn’t armed at the time of answering the door, Mr. Crawford would be dead by baseball bat.

Instead all participants are alive thanks ONLY to a gun.

Carry your guns people, its a lighter burden than Regret! –Breda

Play Me Out: Choctaw Bingo

Michael Bane used this song as the end-bumper for his latest podcast, amazing finger-picking and depraved lyrics that just bring a smile to my face. Enjoy!

Another Good Post

Chris From AK slaps one out of the park. Some lefty Professor says “Charles Darwin’s ghost is watching — and he doesn’t have a gun. ” And Chris paws through Darwin’s writings and finds that Darwin indeed packed heat when he was out-and-about.

I mention in the comments that I was anti-gun, but after some research I concluded that defensive firearms were good things to have around. Seems Charles Darwin discovered that long before I did.

Go Read the whole thing, its great!

Great Post

From Linoge

My rights are not subject to any polls, studies, statistics, opinions, or arguments. PERIOD.

It simply does not matter how many people, groups, organizations, or agencies support “gun control” – no number of people approving of the basic abrogation of human rights makes it appropriate or acceptable… or are you saying that if enough people were sanguine with it, we could start enslaving the blacks again?

Now these statements are often framed in a 2nd Amendment context, but really it’s far more vast than this. We recently talked about a blogger who’s against gun rights…but is also against the 1st Amendment right to petition the government. Lots of anti-gun bloggers talk about registration and safe-storage laws that demand inspections by Law Enforcement without probable cause or warrent. That’s the 4th Amendment.
People who want to ban guns and knives also like to ban things like cigarettes, prescription dugs, continue the losing war-on-drugs, things like Four Loco, trans fats, etc, etc.

Essentially my take-away from this is that there are two kinds of people, those who feel that human rights are granted by governments, and subject to permissions and negotiations, and there are those who don’t.

One of those groups is your enemy, and a give them NO Yield.
“Necessity was the plea for every infringement of human freedom. It was the argument of tyrants; it was the creed of slaves.” –William Pitt the Younger

Having a Bit More Fun

Heh, So William Buster left yet another rambling comment. Its loaded with emotional hand-wringing, Passive-Aggressive ad-hominem, and outright lies…not to mention what appears to be a vague dig about not being open minded….sorry bub, talk is cheap and the evidence is in my corner, nice try. And of course some conspiratorial nonsense about lone-wolf lobbyists imposing their extreme views on states, town, and federal government. Uh Huh… The only thing worth note is this load of crap:

Where is the gun lobby after crimes? Shouting for more guns. Helpful. Somehow, the mother of my dead brother in law, shot through the head, don’t find comfort, or even recognition from gun lobby when the awful happens, not just in the press. There are so many deaths you don’t hear of. There is little demonstrated, expressed concern over protecting the lives of people caught in gun violence, by people who have “legally” bought guns, because the laws are shit.

The quotes around “Legally” make it. You’ll note his whole screed (as well as blog, and likely his entire existence) is heavy on emotion, and fallacy, and light (to the point of non-existence) on facts. Care to share with us where the gun lobby does this? Care to show me where the gun lobby. Care to share with us the story behind your Bother-in-law’s death? I mean you talk a lot about how your brother-in-law was killed with a gun, but how true is that?

Recently there was a multiple murder in Boston Were these people killed by a gun, or were they killed by a convicted violent criminal who was allowed to walk the streets? Were they killed by a gun, or were they killed because of their involvement in illegal drug dealing? Care to share with me how the Gun lobby in Massachusetts is supporting a convict dealing drugs, possessing guns illegally, and committing murder?

Do you have proof of these things, or are your feelings enough? It wasn’t a gun that killed your Brother-in-law, Bill, and it certainly wasn’t me, or people who represent me Locally or nationally. Maybe you need to give this a solid read.

Oh another thing you should read are the responses to your disjointed comments. For my readers, I’ll politely ask you to leave the ball in Bill’s court. Bill needs to grow-up, or get out. This is a blog for adult discussion, and a 47-year-old acting as a petulant child, is no different than a 7-year old acting the same. You’ve gotten your freebies, Bill. Join the discussion, or hide in the shadows. My blog is not your soap box for your insane and illogical ramblings. Further discussion and debate will be welcomed, mindless rants will be treated appropriately, as Spam.

Thanks for playing!

**UPDATE** While writing this post I was listening to the latest Handgun Podcast, Eric was nice enough to give me not one, but two shout-outs in this week’s episode, but that’s not relevant here. What IS relevant to this post is that he mentions that the call for personal arms, the call to carry them, and the call for training from the pro-rights side is simply stating that you are the only defense you can depend on. When seconds count police are minuets away, and when danger strikes the Anti-Rights advocates want you to be helpless, while the pro-rights side wants you to fight and wants you to live.

That statement really put a little more fire in my belly. Where are you, Bill, after gun violence strikes? Where are you when in your gun-control Metropolis of New York somebody gets raped, mugged, or murdered?

Gun control laws don’t work, and have been proven for decades not to work. That’s why I can’t support them.

Nice Rack!

I mentioned my Field test of the Dragon Leatherworks Talon I mentioned we were furniture shopping. Well the Bed and Sofa arrived Yesterday.

I could have cared less about this bed when it was in the showroom. Not really something on my radar…but now that its set up in my bedroom its WICKED nice. Solidly built, well stained and a great style. All for a really good price. We’ve been going to Jordan’s for years now, mostly to watch movies in their kickass iMax, but overall I hadn’t been impressed by their furniture until recently. They’ve been switching over to domestic-made stock that seems to be a much higher quality, and more solid construction, and since the wife has been looking as sleigh beds for ages, I’ll note that the prices have gotten better too.

Don’t have a picture of the Sofa, its not all that exciting, but we got that at the Jordan’s outlet store for just under $300. I don’t nit-pick when it comes to $300 Sofas, but I WILL say it looks nice, and we definitely got our money’s worth.

Thought I’d Share!

“Gun Death” Exercise

Really this is more for a laugh than for a serious story.

An alleged Taliban commander held at the Guantanamo Bay prison camp since 2002 has died from an apparent heart attack after exercising, the Pentagon announced today.

Awal Gul, 48, collapsed in the shower Tuesday night after working out on an elliptical machine and was pronounced dead at the base hospital after “extensive life saving measures,” …The military’s announcement said he was “an admitted Taliban recruiter and commander of a military base in Jalalabad.” He also allegedly operated an al-Qaeda guesthouse and helped Osama bin Laden with operations several times.

OK I won’t lie, him dying in the shower after overdoing it on a Government-owned Elliptical Machine is better than ANY possible GSW death story possible.

OK so sometimes the tool is important!

“Gun Death” For a Car

We’ve talked a few times about how smaller crimes like “May Issue” carry permits, mandatory training, safe storage, magazine restrictions, and gun-free zones won’t do much to stop somebody who is perfectly willing to commit the penultimate crime of murder. I would say somebody willing to murder over a car won’t even be deterred by not having a gun.

Tory Nelson, 21, faces trial this week in the 2007 slaying of an 89-year-old church deacon.

Authorities say Nelson broke into Charles Davis’ home in rural northeastern Durham County, stabbedDavis and drove off in his 1993 Buick Century on the night of Sept. 26, 2007. The car, worth about $2,000, was the only property taken from the home.

Davis’ body was discovered that evening when his brother-in-law, James Taylor, brought Davis’ wife, Sallie, home from dialysis treatment after Davis failed to come for her.

North Carolina is an interesting state. Depending on how you look at it its both gun friendly, and gun unfriendly. Certainly its a state where one can choose any gun on the market. “Assault Weapons”, “Junk Guns”, “Saturday Night Specials”, and certainly no testing is required by state officials on guns sold. You can buy-and-sell guns face-to-face so long as you obey the law, you can buy magazines that hold 10, 12, 15, 20, 30, 50 rounds and anything above or below. Their carry permitting system is shall-issue, also they recognize most state gun permits and allow outsiders to carry in their state.

It does also have mandatory training for that permit, there are “Gun free zones” galore, you need a $5 Jim Crow permit and a waiting period to buy a handgun if you didn’t go and get a carry permit.

Why am I reciting the North Carolina gun laws? It isn’t relevant because this man was stabbed to death. The attacker wasn’t even old enough to own a handgun legally, and while the south is the home of the fabled “Iron Pipeline” that brings guns from Southern States into Leftist havens like New York and Massachusetts, he didn’t buy a black market gun.

He just stabbed a Veteran and a Church Deacon in his own home, and took his unimpressive car. Can you tell me how this could have been worse if it had been a “Gun Death”?

h/t Sean

Conspiracy

When I read press releases by the Anti-Rights advocates who focus on guns I find something in common: Lots of quotes below the cut.

It seems a question Was Answered

So in doing research for a new post I went back to Bill Buster’s site. It look different to you? Go click on the link here.

Looks like Bill didn’t like us questioning his cult-like following of gun-control, so he simply dumped the posts. Ahhh Cowardice and Irony! Well only because I’m both deeply amused, and to point out the internet is forever. I uploaded the Google Cash here and here of the two missing pages!

I just don’t see how ranting at someone like an Evangelical Christian is going to accomplish anything. Everyone thinks their interpretation of GOD is the right one, and the others are WRONG. Same with guns.

-William Buster

Maybe not the same with guns, but certainly the same with those who hate freedom.

Thanks for playing, Bill, and happy trails!
