I showed this post here of 30 people, most with blogs from the North East United States all gathering for an invitational shoot and get-together. The location of this shoot is actually kept as a guarded secret simply to keep the range from being overcrowded, and because its private property out of respect for our hosts.
This isn’t just us, this happens All Over The Place, and these are just blogger get-togethers where personal friends of mine have gone, I’m sure there are jillions of others. (Heck used to be about once a month all the bloggers in the Midwest would gather at a pub somewhere, haven’t heard about that one in a while).
Of course the other side is a sad sad place.
Meanwhile Thirdpower has dug up some very interesting information on anti-gun blogs. First was openly Joyce-funded “Gun Guys” a once prominent anti-gun blog, and a link found in the sidebar of all who hate freedom. The blog was funded by the Joyce Foundation, but when that funding recently dried up the “Gun Guys” have been averaging about 2 posts a month, most of these posts are copy-pasting other news stories with no original content. So unlike the Gun Bloggers who don’t get paid for their blogs and will often SPEND money on items to review for their blog, shoots like the one linked above, or to travel to distant blog meets or conventions like the NRA Convention or the SHOT Show, keep coming up with more materiel, and new bloggers are always joining the fray. The other side appears to be whores, they’ll do the do so long as the money keeps coming in.
There is another site I was familiar with called “Ohh Shoot” that catalogs gun accidents. Turns out they’re on the Joyce payroll too.
All-in-all there are lots of Socialist blogs that are privately owned and run voluntarily that are hostile to gun rights, but really there is only one blog out there that actively goes against gun rights on its own vocation without compensation from the anti-gun lobby.
I wonder how it must feel to #1. Stand for a political cause that is so backwards nobody will support it without getting a healthy paycheck. And #2. Running the ONLY blog that DOESN’T get a paycheck from the anti-gun lobby.
