DGU Be Careful When Selling Things Online

This is one thing I do have concerns about.

Akron police said one man went to the victim’s house and looked at the gaming system around 6 p.m. He then called a friend to bring him money to buy the game.

Within minutes, two armed men broke into the house and robbed the victim of $85.

During the robbery, the victim pulled out his own handgun and fired several shots at the suspects, who ran out of the house and drove off in a car.

Whenever I have to have service work done on my house I’m ALWAYS armed. You don’t know who’s showing up.

Also when selling personal property I like to meet in a public location rather than my home. One GREAT place is my gun club. Public location and CC TV cameras everywhere just-in-case.

I assume from the reading this guy was carrying or had a gun near at hand. Good work!

Morning Biology

Tam brings the Snark about a “Fish Without a Brain”

“Awesome! Let’s vote for him!”

She has a point…but pawing over the linked articles (which most of which are written by non-scientists with little actual interest in science, don’t seem to point out what’s fucking new about this discovery. I mean the image put in most of the stories were similar to ones I saw in my Childhood Bio Book. Lancelets are nothing new.

Also in my humble opinion besides their bizarre missing-link nature they aren’t very interesting, and I’m actually more amused by the life cycle of the Tunicate. A creature born free-swimming and with a notochord (Primitive backbone), cerebral ganglion (primitive brain), but give it up, and digest those advanced apendages, to become a sedentary eating-and breeding spongy mass.

Needless to say, they’re Sea Democrats.

“Gun Death” Cocaine

A “Gun Death” suitable for Dr. Rockso

A South Carolina man’s brother died after police said he was forced to eat cocaine hidden in his brother’s backside.

Both brothers were taken into custody on allegations they had drugs in their car…Officers said Deangelo Mitchell convinced his brother, 20-year-old Wayne Mitchell, to swallow the ounce of cocaine to hide the evidence. He died soon afterward.

Now note that those who use the metric of “Gun Death” claim to NOT want to make guns as illegal as Cocaine. Also I’ll note that many of the non-suicide “Gun Deaths” are in direct relation to the black market commerce of illegal drugs.

OK let’s go out on a lighter note:

Yeah Kinda Like This

Michelle Bachman on an Iowa radio station talking about her Conceal Carry permit, and AR-15

The host is an idiot, and Michelle didn’t seem to be much better, and I wonder if she even owns an AR-15 given that she dodged all the questions asked even the low ball of “They can be made automatic” crap.

Much better than waving around a duck-gun, but like Rick, Michelle hates you if you’re gay, and thinks she knows better for how you run your body.

Still that’s how it should be done. There isn’t much action on banning hunting or O/U Shotguns, but AR-15s, 30 round magazines, and conceal carry are hotbed issue that really need to be addressed.

I would say “Sadly this is only being addressed by the idiots” but this field is ALL Idiots so there’s nobody good to follow the lead.

Light A Candle To Stop Violence

So the Brady Bunch are planning Candle-light vigils on January 8th to “Stop Gun Violence”. Now many have pointed out what a stupid and pointless gesture that is, also many are noting the dwindling numbers of people willing to come out in the cold with a candle for the sake of their lost cause.

I propose a display that will show we have the same goals, but our side is actually interested in results.

So on January 8th I ask everybody to post a picture of a lit candle and you carry gun. Because lit candles don’t do a whole lot but cast a meager amount of light…but a loaded gun in the hands of lawful citizens can do wonders to protect innocent lives from harm.

Also “Gun Violence” is a bogus and made-up term, so on January 8th I ask you all to light a candle to stop VIOLENCE, and show you have the means to do just that.

Do this across blogs, facebook, photo accounts, twitter, and any other means. I suspect with a little spreading of the word we can easily dwarf the anti-freedom effort, as well as make the world a safer place!

Nice Video

On how to grip the 1911…or really any other pistol.

Your grip and stance make an amazing difference on how the recoil of the gun feels, and you can handle some pretty scary guns if your form is good.

I’ve shot some brick-splitter handguns, from .454 Casull to .500 Magnums loaded hot, to Jay’s Snubbie From Hell. A good solid grip and an aggressive shooting stance keeps pain to a minimum and allows you to effectively utilize some pretty heavy artillery!

Couple this with a moderate recoiling gun and you just gain gobs of control and fast follow-up shots. A great lesson!

Philip Marlowe

I love pulp stories and Film Noir. My favorite being the works of Raymond Chandler, specifically Philip Marlowe.

Of course the best film adaptation is Humphrey Bogart in The Big Sleep

Of course Chandler’s hard-knuckled, hard-drinking, tough talking private eye, and the wild women, and corrupt millionaires has been an inspiration to many films, but another favorite of mine might be a surprise to you.

Yep, the Big Lebowski is based heavily on Raymond Chandler’s Marlowe stories, just remember in this story “Marlowe” is too damn drunk and stoned to realize he’s a private detective.

So this week I was hanging out over at my Mother-in-Law’s place, and while the ladies were doing some dreadful nonsense my uncle and I listened to the old Philip Marlowe radio broadcasts on her Roku. Not having a Roku I decided to see if there was an other way to enjoy these broadcasts. I succeeded with flying colors!

(Full player found here)
Not only can I enjoy them, but we all can! yay! So have a drink, light an unfiltered cigaret and wait for some big goon to come out of an ally to tune you up with a sap!

It CAN Happen to You

Jack comments on this story.

I’ve said it on other blog posts but this is one of the 2 Krogers near where I live.

I’ve been in that Kroger several times. Often at 6PM.

Carry your damn guns.

I know that feeling, I’ve shopped at this store many times.

I remember Mike W. had a murder up the street from his place (I can’t remember the details so I couldn’t find it, Mike).

Really many of us have had similar events, and all people cited live in good neighborhoods. Really “Bad Neighborhoods” are just neighborhoods where such things happen OFTEN, there is no such place where this happens NEVER.

BTW Jack left his comment on the post talking about the Russell Lund murders. Lund was a multi-millionaire, as well as a violent sociopath, and Barbara Lund and her boyfriend breathed their last breath in a large mansion…so even your gated communities aren’t immune from violent people with no value for human life.

And of course if you think that if said monsters are unarmed you’re safe…well you haven’t been reading close enough.

Now this post does have the “Guns” tag. Not about THEIRS, about YOURS!

Carry your gun, carry it all the time, especially carry it for quick trips to the store, and ALWAYS be aware of your surroundings.

Just because bad things don’t happen often, doesn’t mean “Never”.

“Gun Death” Shovel

Why would anybody own a shovel if not to kill?

According to the sheriff’s department, Lynn and others had gone to Bolden’s home on Sunday morning to help her with repairs to her home, not as volunteers, but to be paid by her.

They left her home around noon. Sometime after noon, the sheriff’s department says Lynn returned to her home alone, assaulted her with a shovel leaving her unconscious in her front yard. Lynn is accused of stealing money from Bolden and fleeing from the home on foot.

“Gun Death” is irrelevant because its the PERSON that is dangerous, not the tool. I know lots of people who carry a gun every day and commit no crimes, yet one monster with a shovel can do so much harm. Does it matter that shovels are made for digging and not for killing?

Less than $10 is believed to have been stolen from Bolden, which is also what detectives believe was the motive.

Can you read that and think that somehow restricting guns, but leaving monsters like this roaming free will make us safer?

Improvised Weapons

Of course Gun Control laws are foolish as smugglers will find a way to steal guns from military and police, or smuggle guns from other nations. And of course actually BUILDING guns is a very easy thing to do. But even if you’re just improvising a weapon some deadly things can be cooked up even in Prison.

Now this all leads me to this post by Roadkill about the MillWall Brick, its essentially an impact weapon similar to a Sap made entirely out of a News Paper.

From the videos out there it doesn’t seem that much of a force multiplier, but a weapon is a weapon. Also this shows that UK Police State is indeed a prison.
