Hemispherectomy

I must first apologies to whoever in the Conspiracy sent me this link, but its a neat one. (Chime in in the comments to remind me)

Kinda cool, and interesting given the wife is going in for EEG monitoring and an MRI today for further confirmation on how awesome her surgery went. Now I’ll note that she underwent an Anterior Temporal lobectotmy which probably removed about 80% of her right temporal lobe. Looks from the video this surgery removed about 90% of the whole HEMISPHERE! Got me looking for more.

You can see that her left arm is partially paralyzed, but she’s running, walking and even dancing.

Meanwhile the biggest side-effect of the surgery for the wife is it appears her memory is considerably better now. BTW as a tie-in all the talk of “Plasticity” I suspect is a reason why the surgery went as well as it. We have no idea when the tumor that caused all of this formed, but it very well could have been in her infancy, and structurally it isolated much of the tissue removed in the surgery from the rest of the brain. Whatever that tissue was destined for from the get-go got mapped to other parts of the brain, so when it was eventually removed, only the errant functions of the tissue (seizures) were missed.

Very neat stuff!

“Gun Death” Mass Murder

The anti-rights people always say they use the metric “Gun Death” because guns make it “too easy” to commit murder. (This should explain why 90% of all gun owners have a confirmed kill, right? …I mean its SO EASY!) and that while other tools can be used for murder guns are idea for mass murder!

A man has been charged with murder after police say he stabbed a woman and her two children to death in their central Ohio apartment.

Columbus police say Caron E. Montgomery was arrested Saturday in a hospital, where he was in stable condition with self-inflicted knife wounds.

Yep, keep pushing that shit, I’m sure people are believing it!

This Blog Powered By

So many of you might remember my breakfast of a hamburger with an Egg and a side of chips and pomegranate. I do have more traditional breakfasts as well. Of course there’s cereal which is hardly blog-worthy. This I thought came out quite nicely.

That’s a onion, mushroom and pepperjack omlette with a side of toast and bacon. As we say in Maine “That’ll make a turd” 😉

Oh and by “Blog Powered By” I must apologize for the light posting this week. Work is totally crazy so I haven’t really had the time to put in reading news and penning posts. Things will return to normal soon enough. Thank you for your patronage!

“Gun Death” Shaken Baby

Another Infanticide story here.

A Dakota County jury has found a Northfield man guilty of two counts of murder in the first degree in the death of his 17-month old stepson. A judge immediately sentenced Hokanson to life in prison.

Hokanson shook Nicholas Miller multiple times after arguing with his sister in law about how to discipline the child on June 19, 2009 in Northfield. The boy died four days later in a Wisconsin hospital.

Hokanson admitted to investigators that his shaking of the toddler might have contributed to his death.

An autopsy revealed several broken bones, bleeding on the brain and other injuries dating back several months.

I can’t even get into the mind of such a monster. To friends with babies I often joke that babies need to be cute because all the puke poop and crying is not something somebody would tolerate from something ugly looking. That being said when you hold a baby you are GRIPPED by the need to nurture and care is damn near compelling. To harm an infant enough to break bones and cause death is just terrifying.

And when killing a baby just a brisk shaking is all that’s you need to end a life. But if you’re a person who used the idea that “Gun Death” is a worthwhile metric, this dead baby isn’t even an issue….

For my Homies in South Africa

Gun Control doesn’t work, never will work, and we need to fight it.

PS: I think the South African Accents sound so cool. Always like them.

Don’t Get It

So I guess Boston has two big lighted fir trees up. One called an “Official Tree” the other the “Holiday Tree”

Look, I’m not a Christian, and I don’t go to Church, and I honestly belive the “Jesus” as he’s talked about in the Christian bible is actually a conglomeration of acts done by real people, fantastic tales of mythology, and clever manipulations to help convert paeans.

The wife feels similarly. And guess what? This weekend we’ll be buying and decorating a CHRISTMAS Tree. Not because we’re religious, but because we want to, and enjoy it. Also what’s the big fucking deal? Hell look at this post when my wife was having her brain operated on. Lots of people offered prayers and blessings. While home for Thanksgiving the Mrs.’s cousin told her he had converted to some new-age flavor of Buddhism, and that he was chanting for her that day.

Guess what, we were deeply moved by these gestures.

What the fuck is wrong with the people who feel that saying the word “Christmas” is somehow poison? #1. Lots of Non-Christians celebrate it. (I personally know a TON of Jews who put up a tree for the same reason why the wife and I do) #2. Just about every business and government agency, will recognize it. and #3. What other “Holiday” involves erecting a fir tree covered with lights around the Winter Solstice?

I mean you want to erect a “Holiday” cross? How about celebrating the “Spring Holiday” with a “Holiday Cross” with a “Holiday Martyr” on it?

Is anybody dumb enough to think that if you call it something different it’ll actually change what it is? (See Also “Assault Weapon” and “Ground Zero Mosque” et al)

Look whoever you are, and whatever you believe, have a happy season. If in this season you feel like not celebrating Christmas, or celebrating the several other winter holidays, feel free and enjoy it. If you decide to erect a Christmas Tree, call it whatever you want, but don’t expect anybody dumb enough to be fooled by it!

“Gun Death” in Love!

One must be careful with whom we are intimate with.

Pittsburgh police have arrested a woman on charges that she killed her roommate in a fight over a man.

Nancee “Bunny” Mosley, 55, is accused of fatally stabbing Audra Cobb, 40, on Nov. 13 in the apartment they shared on Washington Boulevard in Homewood, according to a criminal complaint. Police arrested Mosley after interviewing her at police headquarters Tuesday night.

Seems that one lady brings home a man, and her roommate decided to bed said man. The disagreement involved a knife and a dead woman.

These are the sorts of stories they say why we shouldn’t keep guns in the home. You see a gun is too easy that in a moment of flared temper you could commit murder. Good thing there wasn’t a gun in the home in this case, somebody might have been hurt!

Ok I’m not a huge fan of holiday music, but I can get behind this for the trippy Space groove.

The Gun Is Different!

So this little video is going around the web.

Makes your teeth clench doesn’t it? So much stupid and gun in one place pretty amazing nobody got hurt! After my reaction to take the gun away from the little punk went away I thought “Oh no, the Anti rights turds are going to have a field day with this!” But that got me thinking of other videos I’ve seen.
