Saw this guy on my street today!
Crappy cellphone picture that I cropped down. As far as I can tell from markings and beak size it was a Peregrine Falcon, and when this guy flew off, another came out of nowhere to chase him and make a LOT of noise. We have a lot of Red Tails around here too. Not only are they cool but they eat squirrels and pigeons.
So the more I see of them the happier I am!
I have some business in Boston today. Because of all the “Peaceful” protests from the Kill The Jews movement I decided to carry TWO guns rather than just the usual one.

I’m totally disgusted that we train people to fight with firearms in the name of our country…and keep these people disarmed until they are deployed to a war zone. The argument from people who both hate America and have never served is that soldiers are bad people and can’t be trusted to carry guns. If we let soldiers go armed on base they’d just kill each-other.
A Marine found dead in his barracks room at Camp Pendleton early Sunday was beaten to death, a spokesman for the investigating agency said Tuesday.
Ed Buice of the Naval Criminal Investigative Service said Lance Cpl. Mario Arias Jr. died from injuries he suffered at the hands of another Marine sometime late Saturday night or shortly after midnight. That Marine then jumped from a third-floor balcony of the barracks and suffered what Buice described as “significant” injuries.
Fucking shame. I’m upset that such a monster went through the screening and training process, but also I’m upset that we lost a Marine while on base.
I wonder if such a move would have been done if the killer suspected his victim might be armed?
And in the end, I will note that this was not a “Gun Death”, you don’t need a gun to commit a horrible crime, but they are the BEST tool to STOP one.

I’ve owed this story to you for a good while. Back in 2008 I read about a new Pocket pistol in .45 ACP from Kahr. I’m in love with .45 ACP, and when I don’t carry in my shoulder rig, or carry a backup gun I like to drop a gun in my front pocket.
So let’s have a look at the story of my Kahr PM45, that I call “Eleanor”.
Now for those who don’t know we have a bullshit system here in Mass where guns first need to be approved for “Safety”. BTW some well-known guns that are “Unsafe” for Massachusetts are everything in the Glock line, as well as all handguns made by Springfield Armory or Colt. Now Colt and Springer just didn’t want to play with the Attorney General’s stupid games and never submitted a single unit for testing. Companies like Kahr and Glock submitted EVERYTHING they had (this was destructive testing and likely cost millions), the guns passed the safety tests…but the AG decided in his infinite wisdom that the guns were still “Unsafe” and couldn’t be sold.
Ok so how does one get around this. First the law ONLY effects FFL transfers, so you can privately sell these guns all you want. (well we’re allowed 4 sales per year) There is one exception, is an FFL can transfer guns that are given to you through a will estate. I didn’t feel like asking one of my friends or relatives to buy one and then die…I like the gun but not that much, I needed to look at the other options. One way is to have an officer buy a gun (cops are exempted from all our bullshit laws) and then sell the gun to you. There are several cops in the state that run a racket like that. The other is to get somebody to move into state, get their LTC and then sell it.
A few years ago my Buddy Vector moved to Virginia with his wife while she was in college, and given that their family is from Maine and Mass they chose to move back. They also bought their house they moved back into. That coupled with the fact that DC traffic is ALWAYS horrible, and there are no gun shops in the Arlington area he knew about. It was a bother for him I didn’t press the issue. I was a big chagrined, but it later turned out the state never cancelled his permit so there would have been some bizarre legal issues.
So that opportunity was missed, then Christina decided to move to Mass. Stupid move, and after I attempted to talk her out of it, I talked her into buying a PM45. BTW the gun was bought online from US Citizen’s FFL “Well Regulated Millita”
Then Christina Moved to Mass. Got settled in and got her LTC, and given that she didn’t really like the gun, she sold it to me, which we had to do through the state police. Used to be we had to do it on paper forms and send them out in the mail. Now its online which is better…if you ignore all the infringements of the 2nd Amendment.
So yeah, that’s what it took for me to get this one gun. What a pain in the HOLE this was. The Gun was built about an hour west of me in Worcester Mass, then shipped to Traction Control’s place (where’s he located BTW?**UPDATE** He’s in Texas also, thanks Kevin) then to Texas, then driven in a car up to Massachusetts.
There’s one thing about my Westinghouse M1891 was made in Mass, went to Russia and goodness knows where, only to now be living in a gun safe back in Massachusetts as the crown jewel of my collection (I need to do a better post on that rifle). This gun pranced around the country not because it needed to, I’d just as soon drive over to the Worcester factory and swipe my credit card and bring it home, but no, it had to be difficult.
Still I will say, all that PITA, it was WORTH IT, I love this gun, and its EXACTLY what I wanted for a light carry/Backup gun.
Les mailed me these two stories that show the validity of the arguments of those who defend gun control.
Fist argument: Banning guns on campus prevents “Gun Crime”
Police in North Carolina were investigating Sunday after two students were robbed by several gunmen in a dorm room at Fayetteville State University.
WRAL-TV reported four to six men with guns knocked on a dorm room door at around 2:00am local time, university spokesman Jeff Womble said. When the two students answered, a physical altercation ensued.
Good thing students are left defenseless on campus!
And of course the old saw “Just Give Them What They Want”
Two men entered the store at 7205 Lorain Ave. about 11:05 p.m. and bought a cigar from the two clerks behind the counter.
The two customers then pulled out handguns. One went behind the counter and pointed his gun at Eyad Salhe, 45, of Cleveland, who was standing at the cash register, and demanded the money.
Salhe gave him everything in the drawer, while the other robber held two other employees at gunpoint.
The robber near the cash register demanded the store’s surveillance videotape and started looking under the counter. He found a .38-caliber revolver, grabbed it and shot Salhe in the right leg, below the knee.
He gave them the money. I bet he didn’t even know how the security system worked. And they shot him.
Also if you have a defensive gun, the best place for that gun is on your person.
But yeah keep supporting gun control! It works good!

An elderly Missouri woman was described as “a rotting corpse that was still breathing” after her son left her in a vinyl chair for so long her skin fused to the seat.
Sick Carol Brown, 74, had to be pried from her chair by emergency workers after her adult son left her unable to eat, drink, or go to the bathroom at her home in Independence, Mo., KCTV reported Thursday.
Emergency workers were called to a scene of filth and squalor when the man reported that his mother had suffered a stroke on Oct. 27….Hospital staff who treated Brown before she died said the woman had a maggot infestation on an open sore around her ankle, according to court documents.
Her son, who had filed an application to receive aid from Missouri State to be his mother’s caretaker, told officials he had been honoring her wish to die at home.
Doesn’t say much about her stroke prognosis, but with modern medication and clot busters most people who have strokes can recover if treated quickly. Remember people: Time Lost is Brain Lost!
She likely died when she didn’t have to, and likely her death was far more horrific for her than those who had to deal with her extensive wounds and trauma.
But not a “Gun Death”, and those can be so much more horrific, right?

There are still a lot of details unknown about this case, but certain it appears that no firearms were used.
Three murders, no guns, no “Gun Death”
Just got back from the range trip. Jay was kickin’ ass with the pistols, and has proof, while my pistol shooting was mediocre. (Need to log some serious double-action time with the S&W 617 to tighten up my basics)
The FAL ran like a champ, Wally did me solid with his magic smithery. (Thanks again, Bud!) It was the star of the show as there were a few other guys on the firing line and they all took a turn. Also while my pistol targets were shameful, the FAL target pushed out to 25 yards offhand was just how I wanted it to look.
Oh and Jay was laughing at this sight. This is what being a Massachusetts gun owner is like
Yeah that trigger lock is as big as the gun. Now if I had a spare pocket to drop it into it wouldn’t need a lock, but putting it in my range bag, it needed that lock AND while I was driving needed to be locked in the back of my truck.

Not a professional job, and its Airsoft dorks, but still shows how its done. If you click on the video you’ll see in the “Related” tabs some professional shops doing it on non-gun things. I just prefer to watch those goofy Japanese dudes make their airsoft Glock 17 into a Mall-Ninja special!
While all of my guns are the traditional gun colors, there’s a part of me that digs on these funky looking guns coming down the pike.
Back in the day the Model T Ford came in “Black” or for an extra charge “Black”…and I guess if you rolled your buggy into the creek “Mottled Rust Coloration”.
Those days are gone, now cars can be had with every color of the rainbow, as well as stripes, and graphics. I don’t see why guns should be any different.
So Jay and I are heading to the range. I’m bringing my camera so I can make some blog-fodder of it.
I already know good times will be had!
